Our Friday afternoon regular comes around once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 12.45pm, when Sunderland welcome Liverpool to the Stadium of Light in the Gameweek’s early kick-off.

Goalkeeper – Mark Schwarzer
With Kasper Schmeichel still sidelined, Nigel Pearson has recently snapped up the veteran from Chelsea as Leicester look to cement their spot in the top-flight. Priced at just 5.5m, Schwarzer looks poised to take over from Ben Hamer in goal and his experience between the sticks could be vital as his new club play host to an Aston Villa side with a single strike in the last five Gameweeks. West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster is immediately drafted in as our favoured option between the posts. Available for just 6.3m in PlayON, the Baggies number one will be hoping to benefit from Tony Pulis’ installation to the Hawthorns hotseat and at home to fellow strugglers Hull, looks a solid shout to rack up his seventh clean sheet of the season.

Defender – Mathieu Debuchy
Whilst Arsenal’s failure to keep a clean sheet for six matches has dented their defensive appeal, it has, nonetheless, ensured the Frenchman remains favourably priced as Stoke roll up to the Emirates. Coming in at 7.2m, Debuchy faces a Potters attack with just three goals in their last four road trips and with the visitors’ top scorer Mame Biram Diouf having departed to the African Cup of Nations, a shut-out could be on the cards. The right-back’s strike against Liverpool in Gameweek 17 also serves a reminder of his points potential at both ends of the pitch. Three goals in four matches for a defender is an eye-catching feat and makes John Terry (8.7m) our essential pick in defence as Chelsea host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. In spite of his recent attacking endeavours, the centre-half is even kinder on your budget than team-mates Branislav Ivanovic (9.5m) and Gary Cahill (8.8m) and is always likely to pick up extra points with the clearance and interception elements in PlayON’s scoring matrix. Given that the Blues haven’t conceded in the last four in front of their own fans, another clean sheet would be no surprise.

Midfielders – Stephane Sessegnon
The West Brom midfielder will be hoping to continue his recent fine form in Tony Pulis’ first match at the Hawthorns. Sessegnon has bagged four assists and fired six shots on target (each worth 200 points in PlayON) in the previous five Gameweeks and Pulis will be relying on his creativity and Saido Berahino’s threat up front to get the better of a Hull side that have conceded seven in their last four away matches. Managerless Newcastle make their way to Stamford Bridge on the back of a run that has seen them concede 13 goals in their last five matches. After losing their unbeaten run to the Magpies early last month, Jose Mourinho’s side will be out for revenge and we turn to Eden Hazard as the Magpies likely chief tormentor. The Belgian has served up three goals and as many assists in his last five outings and, at a price of 13.9m, is cheaper than team-mate Diego Costa (15m) up front.

Forwards – Ashley Barnes
We’re overlooking Danny Ings for Burnley’s home clash with QPR and instead turn to his in-form strike partner. Whilst the former has scored just once in the last seven league matches, Barnes has racked up three goals in five and priced at a mere 6.5m, he looks a real value option against a side that has failed to pick up a single pint on their travels so far. Man of the moment Harry Kane is impossible to ignore. After making the PlayON picks as our left-field striker on Boxing Day, the youngster is elevated to essential status for Tottenham’s trip to Crystal Palace. Coming in at just 7.7m, Kane has delivered five goals and three assists in his last five outings and looks in the mood to spoil Alan Pardew’s homecoming at Selhurst Park.

Need help please. I am 2nd in my league chasing a guy who has similar mid to mine however he has Silva & Sterling. I am wildcarding next week so am happy to take a punt and even -4.

    Green
    Azpi Wisdom Mangala
    Hazard, Sanchez, Downing, Yaya
    Kane Costa Benteke

Subs: Adrian - Hutton, Wanyama, N Taylor

Obviously gotta be Yaya out but for who? need a big score this week? Erikson, Chadli, Cazorla, Di Maria...Maybe a -4 and swap out Taylor/Mangala too?!

And if you can be bother who shall i play Green v Adrian & Mangala v Hutton? Thanks

I have ADM, Eriksen, Mirallas, Hazard and Sanchez and just can't justify playing the WC yet with their fixtures.

I'd go Yaya to ADM but it may be 1 week too early. But you never know.

Why do people bother picking two budget goalkeepers to "rotate" when clean sheets are always extremely unlikely over 90 minutes for either? :/ ... Much better - and so obviously much better - to pick a quality GK and bench the cheapest one possible.

I'm coming around to this way of thinking, and I love a rotation. If some of the mid-priced options were cheaper then it may be worth it.

The GK article shows that you can outscore one GK by having two that rotate well. Gives you another option should one get injured too. They're the reasons why it's not so obviously better to only have one, but I do quite like picking one with a good run and having no benching dilemmas.

But only with hindsight can you get the rotation right, and that's assuming you picked the correct pair to begin with.

For the second half of the season, I think it is easier. I'll certainly be looking at Sunderland's home fixtures.

        1. Black Knights
          • 14 Years

Didn't they say that even looking back with hindsight they still chose the lower scoring GK in some instances and it still worked out higher than sticking with one? There are clear reasons for doing it, it isn't nailed on.

I have had Forster, followed by Guzan, and I'm probably going to do Panti, with Hamer, but that's not to say you can find a rotating pair that will outscore Panti at all.

Yeah I think so, but with that particular pairing it was possible to pick the wrong GK a few times and still better the single GK score.

Panti and Foster both look strong GK's for the remainder of the season with no rotation whatsoever.

patience is key i have learned this season.

I was very impatient last 3 seasons and it cost me, this season wait till friday for Transfers unless its a dead cert (Sanchez, Aguero...ect) and its paying off. My mate last season was super patient and did really well this season his lost his patience and 21st in the mini league! All down to his inability to wait!

              Hazard, Kun, Sanchez, easily enough

Issue for me in getting Cesc in and keeping Austin/getting Bojan is benching dilemmas

Trippier, Fazio and Skrtel? Or at least defenders from those teams are probably the best on paper…?

Will Baines (mcl, WBA) get more points than Trippier (QPR, PAL) in the next 2 GW's?

Thats tough. I went Baines as GW 22 & 23 are decent for Everton.

Trippier hasnt done much all season.

A lot of odd Wild Card teams, they often look a little bare.
Could you post your SV here if your on a WC, or even if you're not if you like.

101.6 🙁 This is why my WC team looks very bare…

          Pantilinon | Myhill
          Terry | Alderweireld | Hutton | Wisdom | Duff
Hazard | Sanchez | Di Maria | Sigurdsson | Boyd
          Aguero | Kane | Giroud

Sturridge will not be loved by the BAPs system

Lost out on BAPS to defender who didn't score and did concede (Skrtel) in the only game he scored in

    WC Planning Dilemma; (Terry/Costa debate)

    A) Costa - Boyd - 4.2DF
    B) Austin - Downing - Terry + £1m (with Siggy/Downing/Austin/Kane rotation)

Putting it like that...seems B is by far the better option!?

Valid point. Seems the more balanced option out of the two though?

Downing could be anyone below £7.1m

Your phone may have an Adult content bar active - is quite common, and sensible, but I'd be surprised if this website and FPL have classified themselves as having adult content.

You sure you're not using the work's wi-fi, and it is restricted on that?

They both come up as gambling sites
Which are restricted, happens in all places wifi or not.
Can get likes of bbc but obviously they miss out on assists etc and often get names wrong

Really just need to decide if Ineed to buy my own phone.
Never seen point before until I got this upgrade with more restrictions.
Can't even download ringtones or apps
