Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are back for Arsenal. Leighton Baines is expected to return for Everton’s home clash with City, though Sylvain Distin is ruled out for the Merseysiders. Villa skipper Ron Vlaar is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. Tim Krul is expected to return for Newcastle’s weekend trip to Stamford Bridge, Brendan Rodgers hopes to have Daniel Sturridge back at some point this month, whilst Marouane Chamakh could be set to return for Palace.

Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini are all available for Arsenal’s clash with Stoke after returning to training, though Danny Welbeck has been ruled out by Arsene Wenger.

Robert Martinez has ruled Sylvain Distin out of the visit of Man City this weekend, with the defender picking up a groin problem against the Hammers in midweek. Elsewhere, the Blues boss has confirmed that Leighton Baines missed the midweek tie with a knock, though is expected to be fully fit for the weekend.

Aston Villa have been rocked by the news that captain Ron Vlaar will miss the next four to six weeks of action with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Nathan Baker, Kieran Richardson and Gabby Agbonlahor are all expected to return in time for the trip to Leicester.

Tim Krul made his return from injury for Newcastle’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Celtic on Thursday evening. The Dutch stopper played 45 minutes, and went on to reveal that he feels good and hopes to be in contention for the meeting with Chelsea on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge is in the final stages of his recovery, and hopes the striker will be available again “at some point in January.”

Leicester midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has been ruled out of the weekend visit of Villa through injury, after the Argentine was withdrawn early on in the Foxes’ cup victory over Newcastle last week. In more positive news, fellow midfielder Danny Drinkwater may be in contention to train on Friday having come off injured against Liverpool, whilst Dean Hammond and Andy King have both made a return to training ahead of the weekend visit of Aston Villa.

Burnley skipper Jason Shackell will hope to prove his fitness in time for the weekend, after missing the midweek tie against Spurs with a calf injury. Clarets boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that the defender will train with the squad today, and is expected to make a judgement call on the skipper’s availability for the weekend. Fellow centre-back Michael Duff has also returned to training following injury, and will also be looking to prove his fitness ahead of the visit of QPR.

Alan Pardew could be handed a boost for his first home match in charge of Palace, with reports indicating that Marouane Chamakh could be set to make the squad for the visit of Tottenham.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Ugh, a real benching dilemma this week!
    Austin (bur) or Chadli (cry).
Both away games to pretty bad sides, Austin and QPR aren't that good away and Burnley can keep it tight at home if they feel up for it, but Austin always has the potential to score and has been involved in 15 of QPRs 22 goals so far this season and bookies has him more likely to score than Chadli.
Chadli is the new kid on the block with great form, but Spurs are inconsistent to say the least and I already have cover in Kane. Not sure how tight Crystal Palaces defence is looking tbh.

TL;DR: Play Chadli (cry) or Austin (bur) this week? 🙂

If I'm ever unsure between a mid and striker I always go striker so I'd play Austin.. If QPR are going to do anything he'll be involved.

Can I have your thoughts on Sanchez please? I have not owned him once yet still top of all my leagues. Admittedly at the start he was causing me a pain but since Giroud came back I dont think he has been worthy of 11.4 due to being pushed out wide.

Do we think there is better value elsewhere in the arsenal team? Walcott or Caz?

    1. Black Knights
      • 14 Years
      11 years, 1 month ago

I also haven't owned him, and even owned Giroud briefly. I have to get rid of Yaya this week though, so I'm going to throw him in just to see how it feels. He isn't really good value when he plays wide to accommodate Giroud, but it'll be a short term bit of fun.

        • 11 Years
        11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah. I am on my wildcard and not having Sanchez makes Aguero money easy to get. I think im going with Caz because everyone has alexis .... bring on the penalties (most likely won by sanchez)

          • 14 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

You may worry about his place with all these big names coming back. Ozil could take his penalties, and probably his no. 10 position. He could end up playing much deeper now. It's a real minefield. I will get Giroud shortly though for sure.

Tried to find fault with it, but it's tough cause it's nicely balanced.

Maybe have Costa in there for one of the CHE mids, but there's a case for not having him.

I´d pick Bertrand before Clyne due to the fact Clyne just had injury problems.
Also would have Costa against Newcastle and then trade in Kun after City have played.
Giroud to Pelle next week is my strategy but then again I can afford Kun to rise a bit.

You can use it any time up until the GW that starts at the beginning of February. You can make transfers all week and then activate it at the last moment if you like (and it will cancel the -4s), or make it with your first transfer and play all week. If you know you will do it in a week, do it early as you can then try to get the players that will rise in price, giving you more money to use.

Good day all. I see that most of the wildcard team drafts only include Aguero from City. Their fixtures from gw 24 could not be any better:

HULL, stoke, NEWCASTLE, liverpool, LEICESTER, burnley, WEST BROM, palace

Why no love for Silva, Nasri or a City defender in our drafts? I mean, Kompany/Zabaleta alongside a Chelsea defender could be golden over that run of fixtures.

Good question - I guess re defenders, City hasn't exactly been water tight even against weak opposition , and then there's rotation. Silva - not sure I'll be shipping him at all, maybe just hold on to him instead of going the AdM route.

True. Now Kompany is back soon. Guess that will help them quite a bit.

If silva performs against Arsenal and Chelsea he'll make the template

The mids don't do enough to warrant the investment.

I agree I think. But the defenders deserve another look I think

I agree. Although it seems most are going one premium and rotating cheapies. If I could throw Kompany in there alongside Terry, I'd be tempted.

15:30 there is a stickie on pressers in the last page or sort comments by stickies.

Also probably the most disproportionate ratio of comments to upvotes. Over 400 comments, yet only 4 upvotes. Remarkable stuff!

    Panti Heaton
    Terry Cameron Alderweireid Wisdom Taylor
    Fabregas Hazard Silva Chadli Boyd
    Aguero Giroud Kane

How is this looking for a WC team? 2,1m ITB left

*who will score most points Costa or Fabregas?
    *Silva or Di maria?
    *Alderweireid > Bertrand?
*Do you think Aguero will play any minutes this week?

      Using your Jan wildcard?

I always wait until the end of Jan as you never know who's going to come in and make the big difference - ie. a striker for a team struggling like Defoe to Leicester.

      Costa should score more points.

Not sure if Di Maria will start.

      No.

      No.
