A trio of in-form midfielders at Arsenal, Man City and Swansea are amongst tonight’s topics, whilst we also assess United’s alarming attack, Burnley’s raiding right-back and the main men for West Brom and Palace as Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew kick-start their respective stints at the helm with a victory.

I think Soton getting the CL spot over United would be the sweetest thing ever.

Can you imagine the look on LvG's face on the final day of the season as the premier league's most expensive team ever assembled lose out to Koeman's Saints for the fourth spot?

It would be a thing of beauty.

Farcical. We barely spent anything after Ronaldo left. Only started splashing the cash this summer. Our net spend was in the neighborhood of Tottenham's, FFS.

            Bias media is biased.

"Chris Smalling, for instance, cost £10m when signed from Fulham in 2010, Phil Jones cost £16.5m when he arrived from Blackburn in 2011, and Wilfried Zaha cost £15m. The much-maligned Anderson was £27m, Antonio Valencia £16m and Ashley Young £17m."

                It all adds up.

You reckon they're factoring in that 80m quid we got for Ronnie? Of course not. Just looking at fees of players currently in our squad which is an idiotic way to look at it or rather serve their bias.

But they are taking everyone else's squad into account the same way too surely. What about Luiz 40m, Mata 38m and Lukaku 28m?

Expense is expense and right now United are most most expensive PL team assembled.

What about revenue? What about all the inflated fees spent to build your squad up which created this market? Again, you're so ironic it hurts sometimes. Laugh at LvG and us all you want. I'll not try to defend us. But a Chelsea fan banging on about finances is farcical.

I simply said that United are the most expensive squad, which they are.

And using inflated fees as some sort of an excuse is laughable coming from a United fan.

i find the media very easy on mnu in the uk, europe and even s america. i mean, MNU arguably has several of the top 10-15 players of the world as of 1 yr ago in adm, rvp, falcao, rooney, and to alesser extent one of the top 3 players of eredivise in Blind. add Mata who is spain national team and its just an insane cast. nothing but top 2 in my book. MNU squad per name has more heavy hitters than MCI and arguably Chelsea. Oscar and William an Chelsea are not that high profile anyways. Yes im aware that mci and che are both teams in sync.

Morning all……...I could do with some feedback on my WC team please:

Can't seem to find a decent Keeper combo that I'm happy with. I know Forster and Harmer / Schmeichel is popular and would mean I could (would have to) swap Bertrand for Azp / Clichy?

    Foster - Speroni
    Clyne - Bertrand - Wisdom - PVA - Wasilewski
    Sanchez - Fab - Hazard - Downing - Boyd
    Aguero - Kane - Austin

Rooney will come good with a hat trick one of these days and be bandwagon no.1

They have full squad back and fixtures, and just came off a 11 game unbeaten streak vs a top four team.

Absolute nightmare defensively mate mate 🙁

Frank De Boer. Laurent Blanc. Jose Mourinho.

These are the only three who could save us I think.

I like Frank de Boer but he's done nothing to show he'd be an upgrade on Louis van Gaal. And having spent about a decade of his career coached bu him I'd guess he picked up a few habits from him.

Blanc I don't get at all. Heinherited Ancellotti's squad of stars and sits 4th in Ligue 1.

You need to do some reading on Blanc then. Never should've taken the PSG job as it's a poisoned chalice. It's his work with Bordeaux that was impressive.

De Boer more of a risk but who else is there?

        1. Tex

You'd take Blanc work at Bordeaux whilst dismissing his PSG stint.

But write off LvG after 6 months at Utd? Van Gaal has Ajax Barcelona AZ Bayern and Netherlands as examples of his work.

In the 18 months since Ferguson retired it seems Man Utd is every bit the poison chalice that PSG is.

I really can't see Van Gaal being removed.

Van Gaal's credentials are overrated. Blanc has ideas and vision in the transfer market, which is completely wasted at PSG. He just had to suspend two of their best players for not giving a toss. Joke of a club.

For those putting Kun immediately in their team, is no one worried about a player fresh returned off semi serious injury with ARS and che as next two figures?

Don't see much haul here with possibly monitored minutes, even for Kun.

Maybe Ride Costa, Austin, Kane a bit longer..

Probably Aguero. His price could get too high for most and he's capable of hurting any team.

Basically i have to decide with these two option before wildcard on GW24:

        1) Yaya > ADM (FT)
        2) Yaya + Austin > Kun + MF 7.7 (point hit)

Not many choice for MF around 7.7M except Tadic

        1. Tex
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 7 months ago

Yaya is the player that most urgently needs moved on. If you can swallow up to 0.5 in price rises then you can maybe wait til gw24 for Aguero. If not you'll need to get him sooner if you want him.

My money is tight so I've brought him in already whilst I still can

          1. nazrijack
            • 14 Years
            11 years, 7 months ago

            Another option:

Yaya + Costa > ADM + Kun (point hit)

How do you rate this trade? I maybe need Costa back in my WC team and losing 0.1 from current price

            1. Tex
              • 12 Years
              11 years, 7 months ago

I don't mind that trade. I'd have both Costa and Aguero but if I had to chose I'd rather have Aguero. If you're only losing 0.1 then Costa shouldn't be too difficult to get back if you want him later.

Finding it difficult to fit a Chelsea defender in, unless downgrade Silva?

Is Hazard a must when I have Cesc? Silva to Chadli and Duff for Terry?

Alight, getting close to a final WC decision.

    Heation - (Pants)
    Terry - Bert - Cameron - (PVA - Wasil)
    Sanchez - Haz - Downing - ADM - (Boyd)
    Kane - Crouch - Aguero

    1.1itb.
Crouch my 2 week punt, then back to Austin.
Downing -> Chadli after this gw.
    Any other ideas?
    ADM or Fab???

I plan on getting Austin back after 2 weeks. Definitely 1. Really torn on the fab/adm. United have some awesome fixtures coming up..

I was fairly set on bringing in Costa this week (on WC - kun, Kane, Costa fwd line.)

But the Costa cash can be spread so nicely.

    Costa, Trippier, P.Jones or

    Pelle, Ivanovic, Bertrand

Seems obvious if Pelle starts scoring again.

With Alderweireld and Debuchy out, is anyone considering Moreno as a ~5.0 DEF option?

Yeah, that's exactly what our back lines need, a Liverpool defender! 😆

      (Sarcastic enough? 😉 )

near essential based on Liverpool's defensive performances this season.

      don't forget, he's 'very attacking'

I'm holding out on WCing for another week and just did Benteke --> Kane, that means that I'm going without Aguero...

At home to an Arsenal without Debuchy, Kun will run circles around Merte and Chambers

anyone thinking Chambers now Debuchy is out ?

I just asked about Moreno above, but I suppose Chambers would be a similar ~5.0 DEF choice. Tough choices in that price bracket. Perhaps best to avoid.

Debuchy just needs to pop his shoulder back in. Sorted 😎

Alcaraz was out for a long time with the same injury

Alcaraz popped the wrong shoulder and dislocated the 2nd. Then he had no more arms left to pop shoulders. Had to just wait until they receded into their sockets.

I'd wait until the specialist updates. He's missing City but you'd probably bench him anyway for that. Then 2 week break - possible he's able to recover in that time. I've no idea what the standard recovery is though. But I'd wait for now.

Why does LVG still persist with a 3-5-2 system, especially revolving around RVP?

No idea! Koeman himself said after the game he knows United have problems building up the play with 3 at the back

Yeah its time to give it up. Rooney in behind a main striker has to be the way forward for United. Bring back the 4231

Something like this would be ideal

        ___________________DDG___________________
        Jones_______Evans________Rojo_________Shaw
        __________Carrick__________Herrera__________
        Januzaj____________Rooney_____________ADM
        ___________________RVP__________________

with loads of alternative options like Smalling, Fellaini, Mata, Falcao, Valencia etc
