hey guys, good to go on WC? had to sacrifice defence, to get costa in.

    Foster/Hamer
    Hutton/PvA/Terry/Wasilewski/Baird
    Sanchez/Hazard/ADM/Chadli/Boyd
    Costa/Kane/Aguero

Im just worried about weak defence, and two 3.9 cheapies (Baird/Wasilewski)
Anyway, dont think Hutton/PvA will score me a lot points...

clean sheets are a largely unpredictable business and if Baird nails down the spot then its like having a 4.5 player for 3.9 so his price being low is irrelevant

There's just so many options on the WC. I was going to double on Chelsea D, but there's Southampton, West Brom, Sunderland's home fixtures and of course, Baines.

Also seem to have money to burn given Kane as a valid option up top.

Not had Costa for ages... worth getting him in now?

Yeah, that's tough. I'm making a huge assumption here, but it's one of those fantasy decisions you wouldn't make if you watch Arsenal play. Talented and determined, I'd have him ahead of Hazard even.

Yeah. Had him in ages ago, can't even remember why I swapped him out. Trying to catch mini leagues now so took a chance he'd have a dip in form with Gru back... Brought in Ings and berahino too which were great differentials but unfortunately all the usuals scored up front too....

Yeah, unlucky. Certainly is a lot of luck in this game, but patience with good picks is rewarded too.

Walcott might be an alternative once fit, but you might have to get Sanchez back in to compete.

    Sánchez - Hazard - Sigurdsson - Silva - 4.3m benchwarmer
    Austin - Rooney - Costa
    2FT, 0 in bank

Want to get Aguero (surprise), dont want to use WC yet. I am thinking about 2 moves:
A.) Rooney and Costa to Kane and Aguero, would leave me with enough cash to get AdM for Siggy
B.) Rooney to Aguero, Silva to Chadli

          Actually, no.

This is the team I'm considering:

          Forster / Hamer
          Terry / Cahill / Clyne / PvA / Baird
          ADM / Hazard / Sanchez / Silva / Boyd
          Aguero / Kane / Austin

          0.0 ITB.

          Thoughts?

Originally had Panti, Bertrand, Fabregas over Forster, Cahill, Silva (and money ITB).

Like it a lot. Would you be prepared to play 442 at times and bench Austin or Kane? Can't see PvA or Baird getting any game time otherwise.

Don't you think someone like Giroud will outscore your defenders?

            1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
              • 13 Years
              11 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, I would. Probably not if Austin keeps shooting the way he has been right now though.

Giroud may outscore them - but would he also outscore Austin? I'm considering potentially having to replace Austin at some point but I can't do it based on the current stats/form is all (despite tough fixtures coming up).

More worried about dropping Fabregas in place of Silva... Think that's okay? Will get in Walcott in place of one of my mids (not Hazard or Sanchez) in the long-term though.

Of the 4 in mid, I'd say Silva is the most disposable - at least over the next 2 fixtures. I prefer a double up of Chelsea defenders than Hazard + Fabregas, personally.

I'm considering a cheaper mid and Austin > Giroud, and keep Baines at the back, so very little chance to double up there.

                1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
                  • 13 Years
                  11 years, 7 months ago

Hmm, that's doable. I do plan on brining in Walcott as soon as he seems ready though (I'm biased, I'm a fan). Silva allows me to get him in easily.

Though having Giroud + Chadli (or something of the like) is quite tempting. Every time I go with a front 8, I mess up my rotation though (lost atleast 40 pts over Christmas). That's the only reason I want to avoid that mess!

          2. Demí
            • 15 Years
            11 years, 7 months ago

Hmm, that's not as bad as i thought. 3-5-2 then? It's pretty good, although i've never really been a fan of Silva in fpl. Think with Aguero back, he'll go back to hogging all the points.

Solid frontline really, but consider Ings/Berahino too over Austin as i'm not sure he has many good home games left.

            1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
              • 13 Years
              11 years, 7 months ago

I'm not a huge fan of Silva in FPL either (he's the heartbeat of that team in real life though). It'll be a 3-4-3 I would think.

A little worried about Austin myself but till his stats drop a little, I can't justify dropping him. If I do, I'd probably atleats look to upgrade to Pelle/Giroud/etc. Worried that I might have to bring in Costa/Sturridge for him at some point (don't know where I would find the funds).

Do you think this is a better option than the first?

              Panti / Hamer
              Terry / Bertrand / Clyne / PvA / Baird
              ADM / Hazard / Sanchez / Fabregas / Boyd
              Aguero / Kane / Austin

              1.3m ITB.

Yes, i think that's better. Leaves money to upgrade Austin if he's not doing the business, and strongly fancy Fabregas to outscore Silva from now on.

Hmmm, thanks. It does make me lose out on my lovely CHE - CHE - SOT - SOT defence though haha!

I can keep money free in the first option by keeping Panti instead of Forster btw.

That's a very nice team. Just really a choice between Austin with that back 10 or Costa and a weaker defence I am guessing ?

            Nicely balanced I reckon.

              • 13 Years

Yeah. I can't find a way to fit in Costa while keeping that midfield tbh.

Based on numbers, I can see sense in Costa + Siggy/Downing/Chadli but I don't think Downing/Siggy will do as well from here on (tough fixtures for Downing, no Bony for Siggy). Chadli could but he's from the Spurs (who are the worst) and I have Kane for that anyway.

              So, I went with Austin.

                All soundly thought out.
                It's a nice team.
I've had Costa since the start - so perhaps I'm more psychologically inclined to keep him and thus give myself the collywobbles deciding between those 3 midfielders !!

Haha absolutely fair. I dropped him sometime back - not really regretting it. Especially with his lack of BP's (and Fab/Haz making up for it).

I'd probably hold him too if I had money stuck in him.

Sound reasoning. I get a little bored with fixed teams and like a player in my front 7 that I can rotate based on form / fixtures, so I'm tempted by Silva > Chadli for the next 2, then switch to Elia (only 5.5m). Up top would be Kane, Aguero, Costa.

Haha, fair. Well, I can be rotating Austin as well!

Ugh, it's all so confusing. The one temptation to get Costa is that I can easily swap to Sturridge if that man starts firing at some point.

      new/SWA/qpr/WHM/LIV/wba

It's good, and they're excellent, but I think I might wait for Toby to return for the run in. Will probably want a couple for CPL/BUR/HUL in GW28/20/32, then they should be keep things tight over the final stretch.

Yeah the fixtures are great, and they are one of the best defences in the league this season along with Chelsea. Problem with the latter is their poor away record and the cl starting up again.

I'm doubling on Sunderland - stronger home fixtures than WBA over the next 6

I wouldn't double up on any team personally. There are good rotation options for a third defender. I'd rather have a Chelsea and Saints combination. Better to spread over the good defenses as IMO not many teams are keaping cleaners atm apart from those two.

I think Foster is better value than Forster, so am just going Gardos for now.. like the look of him.

Playing 3 at the back, one will be Terry, I have a soft spot for Baines, so that leaves the keeper and 3 defenders to rotate. Really tricky to double up in that situation.

Don't usually post but any wisdom from the crowd? Wild carded...

    Forster / Foster

    Clyne / Ivan / PVA / Wisdom / Baines

    Boyd / Downing / Silva / Sanch / Haz

    Kane / Austin / Aguero

Don't like having so much invested in defence, could upgrade Austin to Costa..

Made a big mistake not using my WC last night, Kun and ADM have both gone up now. Can just about afford this, worth pulling the trigger now on this? Or is that defence too woeful?

    Heaton 4.0
    Terry PVA Wisdom Baird 3.9
    Sanchez Hazard Siggy ADM Boyd
    Costa Kun Kane

I guess it's impossible to make an 0.1 profit on any player that is not Sanchez or Aguero..? 🙁
