This evening, we roll out the quarter-final draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the key events during the seventh round ties.

With a score of 93 points, 66irons emerged from round seven as the top scoring manager, with his decision to captain Alexis Sanchez proving key. He earns himself £25 worth of free bets from Paddy Power and will now face bobbyg in the last eight.

United Nations, who has two top Gameweek score prizes already during the tournament and sits in 383rd spot overall, marches on. He now squares up to Harts Hotspurs, who is ranked 243,341 places behind his weekend opponent.

The highest ranked manager left in the competition is 73rd placed mjfdept, who faces 780th ranked Momalpashands in round eight. The remaining eighth round tie will see Wolverine take on CMIFLFC. This is another close encounter with just 528 places separating the pair.

Among our remaining eight contenders mjfdept is the only one wielding his winter wildcard this week, with the rest still to play it.

The full list of seventh round results can be found here, while the eighth round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

        Foster - Hamer
        Terry - Gardos - Pva - Hutton - Wasilewski
        Hazard - Alexis - Silva - Chadli
        Aguero - Costa - Kane

Any ideas what to do with 2 FT's, 2.1 ITB ?

    Hart / Elliot
    Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Hutton, Wisdom, Wasilewski
Sanchez, Hazard, Di Maria, Sigurdsson, Downing
    Costa, Austin, Kane

Improve the defense or go for Aguero ?

    11 years, 3 months ago

    Heaton, Mannone
    Clyne, Ivanovic, Wisdom, Hutton, OShea
    Downing, Siggy, Sanchez, Hazard, Boyd
    Austin Costa Rooney

    2FT, £1.0 ITB
    A) Ivan & Rooney => Aguero & Cahill/Bertrand
    B) Rooney & Siggy => Aguero & Puncheon
    C) Rooney & Siggy => Kane & DiMaria

Leaning towards B, but I can't sell Siggy for a premium midfielder if I bring Kun in. I like the Puncheon punt for the next fixtures. Also if I sell Rooney then no United cover against QPR...

Just listened to Lawro on Focus Forum about Newcastle playing a weakened team in the cup against Leicester. He seemed so shocked that Carver hadn't played a full strength team.

It's as if he doesn't realise that the manager doesn't have full control of the team!

    1. BabyB
      • 12 Years

Has Carver not stated that players were injured and he wasn't prepared to risk them?

      1. CABAYE4
        • 14 Years
        11 years, 3 months ago

        "Injured"

They might have had small niggles but if the game was viewed as important, they would have played. I'd be very surprised if Carver wasn't told that certain players were being rested for league duty. Ashley has no interest in the FA Cup, you get more money for finishing one place higher in the league than winning the cup.

It's two places actually looking at it again.

You get 1.2M more each place you finish higher and 1.8M for winning the FA Cup.

Very nice. I'd rather have two 4.5ms in goal considering DGWs/blanks to come. If you're going to get rid of Siggy I'd do it for Chadli. Silva could be a good placeholder for Theo.

Prefer Costa to Rooney. Maybe ADM instead of Fab if you're set on a Utd player. Either are a good placeholder for Theo though. I'd see if you could squeeze .5 to upgrade Gilks and have two playing keepers with DGWs/blanks to come.

I'm 50/50 on dropping Austin for Costa. I certainly wouldn't do it for Sanogo.

If going with Soton double up, should Fonte be one of them, or do I go with Clyne & Berty ?

Latter if you can afford I think.
I haven't looked at the stats but I wonder how many headed attempts Fonte is getting. He was kind of their target at set pieces last season but Pelle is so bloody massive, I imagine he's the target every time now. Would have to check it out.

Does anyone want to buy one of my wildcards? :p Don't see too much use for it currently.

    Panti Elliot
    Terry Baines Gardos Wisdom Hutton
    Sanchez Hazard Silva Sterling Wanyama
    Agüero Austin Kane

I will probably hit a bad patch with injuries having posted this!

Aston Villa fans can be optimistic about their new signing. Carles Gil is a very sharp and skillful attacking midfielder who can create situations 🙂 As a Liverpool fan, I hope he won't play against us on Saturday

Please help in my WC team

    Forster, Hamer
    Terry, Clichy, Berty, Braid, Wasil
    Haz, Fab, Sanchez, Downing, Boyd
    Kun, Austin, Kane

    3.7 ITB.

Plan is to ship out Downing after this week (HUL) -> Chadli/DI Maria/Silva.
But my main concern is Clichy for the next 2 weeks.
Please suggest how I could improve upon this.

    Thanks in advance.
