These are difficult times for Granville. Sadly for him, his prediction that Diego Costa’s studs played into my hands along with Emre Can’s ankle proved correct – the Chelsea villain pushed me into a Gameweek 23 Wildcard and I cashed in.

It left Granville spitting feathers and 92-points behind but he remains defiant. Even with the millions draining from his squad via his active Wildcard, my resolute co-host is not giving up on keeping the season alive and the rivalry as bitter as ever.

We weigh up Granville’s latest options in his quest to close the gap: analysing the contest between Sturridge and Aguero for our place in our forward lines, check in on the fallout from the Sanchez injury, whilst wading through the usual regulars ahead of another Gameweek.

Pay your dues via this link or mark up the deficit via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Need help with this shower of misfits. Bench is in a bad way and not sure what to do about Sanchez.

    0.7 ITB 0 FT

    Panti (Heaton)
    Terry, Kosceilny, Wisdom, Wasilewski (Hutton)
Silva, Hazard (VC), Boyd (Sanchez*, Elmohamody)
    Aguero (C), Giroud, Kane

Good 2 go with this line-up or take a hit on Sanchez to improve my attacking options?

Looks good, I had tinkered with my own WC team with thoughts of keeping Lloris for the DWG, but decided against it because Spurs defense is unpredictable and I can see them conceding away to QPR for the DGW.. risk is not worth tying up the extra funds in Lloris ( getting Krul instead leaves you an extra 1.2 mil to invest elsewhere or keep for unplanned transfers..

Depends if you're on WC, have a FT, what state the rest of your team is etc. I got rid of him in my WC but if I had to use a valuable FT I'd consider keeping. I got Sterling, but then I have Cazorla and Silva already

Prepares to be laughed out of the DZ

    A) Sturridge, Ozil, Zouma,

    or

    B) Giroud, Silva, Ivanovic

One is template, the other is nuts. Not normally a maverick and I get more fun out of points rather than just being 'different'. However, a time must come where you need to take the lead. Can we see enough potential in A) to make it well worth the risk?

B, mostly because we're not sure, are we?, that Zouma is going to be nailed. Could easily see Cahill start at the weekend. And, while Sturridge is a born goalscorer, Liverpool have some pretty tough fixtures. Giroud leading the line with that set of midfielders at Arsenal makes me fancy him....(have him myself, actually), and that seals it for me.

Ivanovic brings such a proven offensive threat as well. Thinkin' of picking him up at the moment myself. He's "due" a goal (I know some people don't like that whole due notion, but it is what it is.) I actually just checked his summary......think I'm grabbing him right this second.

I've had Ivanovic all season and I'd loath to drop him and then he scores a goal. His nailed on-ness for the DGW is also a massive appealing factor.

I just think Zouma is a mistake as he is extremely unlikely to play in both of Chelsea's DGW matches. Ozil will score less points than Silva. I do prefer Sturridge toi Giroud though.

Fair call. I think Ozil and Silva are fairly 50/50 with Bony set to return soon. The DGW is a big factor though and I wouldn't want to waste a Chelsea spot so easily on Zouma if he doesn't play both games

OK if you have plenty of cash then get Ivan. I just think Zouma is better value right now and, if it were me, I could usually put the extra money to good use. Or keep some in the bank to get back Sanchez or do Giroud > Costa in a few weeks

Fair point about Giroud -> Costa. I like to maximise value as well and I wouldn't want to miss out on a potential bargain. I guess I could always observe for a few weeks and downgrade Ivan to Zouma if it appears he's nailed on. It'd cost a FT but it'd provide insurance on Zouma's playing time particularly with a DGW coming up.

I guess that goes both ways though. If I have Zouma and he is dropped I can always use the same FT to get rid of him. Still, having security of starting Chelsea players is important with the upcoming DGW.

Refer to my post on the next page on the Silva vs Ozil part mate. Ozil is a great option as I'm assuming you're sans Sanchez right now, and if Ozil stays in the XI or the long haul he could be a great option (I prefer Wally though). Much is up in the air as to which Arsenal mid is the "best" option right now, as only Cazorla has proven his worth over these past months so we know what to expect. Ozil gives you a great differential if you'e chasing also, and is coming off a pair of goals and has been very involved in the box these past two matches.

For me what really edges it though, is the Sturridge vs Giroud slot. Sturridge has great offensive fixtures coming up with 2 notorious rivalries coming, I think these will be open games and Pool will rely on Sturridge more than ever for the derby. Even if he doesn't start, his impact off the bench will be noted and with both Countiho and Sterling hitting great form I think Sturridge will be receiving great delivery and his confidence is very high right now to boot coming off a goal.

I expect Sturridge to outscore Giroud with relative ease in these next matches, the value may not be there for Studge but he'll be up there with the best goal scoring odds each week for a reason.

B is definitely most sensible if you're defending though and would ideally shoehorn Silva in somehow as he's the only one that can truly hurt you from all those options. Highly owned and has great form and fixtures to boot, I would get him for the Hull match if I could. In any case Ozil has just a good of chance of make up the deficit when he faces Leicester at the Emirates the following week, so this fixture could nullify Silva's score as both games have goals in them and I would bet my money on both nicking in with a goal minimum.

Ozil also has a historically high-scoring derby coming up, he may even have a slight edge with these next two as Silva is away at the Britannia and I can't see that being too high scoring fwiw. Both good options Ryan, Silva is template and safe for a reason, most mavericks and players chasing will have him on their WC I assume. There's a strong case for Ozil, and it wouldn't surprise me if he outscored him with Ozil's recent heat maps and tendency to stray very close to the goal.

Zouma vs Ivan, not sure here mate. Ivan always has the attacking threat and nearly always has the best odds or second best to score from defenders. Zouma's value is just hard to ignore for what he offers, 4.6m for s stake in the best defense in the league? Yes please. Ivan may leans the odds higher in favor of B of course as he could be a definite tie-breaker here, but Sturridge's better goal scoring threat and playing for the most in-form offense wins it for me. Plus, he's a differential to boot

I guess I should mention my full team. I have Sterling as well so Sturridge would mean I'd be doubling up. However I could get Silva instead of Sterling perhaps? In which case I'd question why I have the more expensive Liverpool player when Sterling is probably better value.

            Plan A

            Foster Krul
            Bellerin PVA Naughton Wisdom *Zouma*
            Hazard Cazorla Sterling *Ozil* Walters
            Aguero Kane *Sturridge*
            (Sterling could become Silva)

            Plan B

            Foster Krul
            Bellerin PVA Naughton Wisdom *Ivan*
            Hazard Cazorla Sterling *Silva* Walters
            Aguero Kane *Giroud*

Good point mate, I'm doubling up myself as I'm confident they'll rack in goals with Sturridge in one shape or another.

Ah, team 1's defense doesn't look to competent fwiw, B looks better in that sense. The balance is better there for sure, and B is more of the template option as it's the most sensible. like team A myself though, but don't wanna get you too maverick here as it's the risky option for sure 😛

B, and have you considered Coutinho?

True he isn't known for his goalscoring prowess but their is ownership and price to count in as well IMO. That .8m-.9m could benefit the team as a whole. Countiho's definitely on the up though and is on a nice little run of form which is always great to watch, a genuine optionfor sure

I'd do a comparison tool between the two IMO

Nuts is good. Sure, it can leave you lagging behind but other weeks it can give you an unexpected edge. Often when the template team has a bad gameweek, and there's a sombre mood on FFS, you'll find yourself wondering 'what's everyone complaining about' as you bask in the glow of a big green arrow.

Zouma's a risk, but if you feel your bench can cover him then go for it. He's pacier than Cahill so will probable get the nod for the Villa match, where Agbonlahor will be running at them.

Studge might be starting on the bench for a week or two yet but he doesn't need long to make an impact.

And Ozil seems as safe as anyone in the Arsenal midfield.

      I like it!

Sturridge might be on the bench for Everton but Rodgers said if thats the case he would have a great chance against Spurs. I'm willing it risk it on that I think.

I also have faith in the rest of my defence to cover Zouma if necessary but I wouldn't want to have Zouma if its likely he'll only play one game in the DGW (which is probably all it'll be). I'd feel as if I'm wasting a valuable Chelsea spot in that situation.

Yeah, that's true. I wouldn't expect Zouma to play both games either. I don't think it's a bad plan you have here though.

I'd go as far saying getting Ozil over Cazorla is ludicrious. He's started once in the prem since October for christ's sake. Cazorla is in the form of his life, nailed on, £0.5m cheaper and on pens.

This being the first time all season they've all been fit together, we don't know who's nailed on in that midfield yet (if anyone is). They may all suffer from rotation, Cazorla included.

Lads, this is my first time posting here as i dont play this format but i've got my FiT team nailed now and would really love some comments on who else you'd rather have.

For those that dont know there is no bench, but you get an extra trade every week. Player prices and starting budget are basically exactly the same.

    Courtis
    Zabaleta, Fonte, Monreal
    Hazard, Cazorla, Silva, Eriksen
    Aguero (c), Kane, Giroud

RVP a good option for this week? cheers

RVP is a big gamble... anyone of Falcao, ADM, Mata, Rooney or even Wilson could grab the points for Man unt.. LVG just too unpredictable as well as Man unt players FPL output

    Greetings Dz,

    Thoughts on the WC team?
    Foster/ Myhill
    Bellerin, PVA,Wisdom. Clyne, Ivanovich
    ADM, Hazard, Cazorla, Sterling, Walters
    Giroud, Kane, Aguero

Saved money in the bank to upgrade ADM to Sanchez (when fit) and Giroud for Costa when he returns GW26

What do you guys think? Good to go?

Basically the same as my team but I'd have Silva over ADM. Might be an idea to get Krul instead of Myhill if you can afford the upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm still undecided on Silva over ADM but everyone else in my ML has ADM so afraid if gets a big haul I could fall behind.. Only way to upgrade to Krul is by freeing up cash elsewhere ( Walters to Ameobi is on my mind, will just be bench warmer)

No might as well keep Myhill in that situation. Probably not a lot in it regarding Silva and ADM (Im not a big fan of either). Still I think the form is with Silva right now and I wouldn't worry about others having ADM, he's not getting them any points

Walters too expensive for 5th mid in that team IMO. I like the team though. Do you not want Panti for his save points?

I have similar WC team except Panti/Krul in goal, Colback over Walters and I'm undecided on my last defender but may go for Zouma/Clichy over Ivanovic. Not saying mine is necc better than yours, needs some tweaking and thinking about!

Thanks for the reply! Walters is sitting there as I was hoping to make a quick profit during my WC week.. Optimum team would just have the 5th mid (between Ameobi, Colback or JWP) . I'm staying away from City defenders personally because I always get burned with them due to rotation .. Zouma might turn out to be a good bargain.. will reshuffle team again and see where it lands

Yes Eriksen will be out before GW27 but not touching Silva. Bubbye Silva when YYT and Bony get back.

I posted "I don't get the Silva bandwagon. Is it simply due to the cash from the Sanchez and ADM dumping? Sure he has HUL next, but he assists the assister. He has not been a fantasy option over the years, and now at 9.4?? I bought him at 8.8 when he played false 9 due to Aguero's injury and dumped after the strikers recovered. Compare 8.4m Cazorla, who shoots scores assists, good stats, scores penalties."

I actually got into fantasy football before I got into real football believe it or not. I had a few mates who asked me to join their league even though I knew nothing of the premier league. This got my initial interest.

I'm in NZ and we don't have much of a football competition which holds our interest (the A league is alright but its a bit Sh*t). Football is a global game unlike American sports and there are a lot of international players in the premier league which is why it has a much greater global appeal. It was shown in SkyTV in NZ during the dead of night but unfortunately they lost the rights last season. I now watch the premierleague on an online platform

I grew up playing soccer (used this word to not confuse with American football). A guy from Scotland set up a local youth club team, and I spent years in that "system" after the little leagues. Some of the best memories of my life. Have studied abroad in Spain and Ecuador and seen big time matches there and followed their national leagues. It's just always been a part of my life. I'm still surprised that in the U.S. it has taken so long to field a decent national team. The sport has really been quite popular among enough citizens in past decades and really should have grown so much more by now.

Your team looks good to me, Chelsea/Southampton defense + Haz/Caz/Aguero/Kane is a solid foundation, after that all the prospects look pretty equal.

Yeah I'd look at Schwarzer TBH. Amazing rotation with Arsenal (though I know Lei aren't any better than QPR in defence, he might be able to pick up a cleanie or two when Ars have tough fixtures).

    Hi all,

Ive never asked for a RMT before, but Im going to now. Thanks in advance for any feedback...

    Lloris, Foster
    Terry, Fonte, PVA, Bellerin, Zouma
    Hazard, Sterling, Cazorla, Mane, Walters
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

This leaves me with enough money to do Santi -> Sanchez as soon as the latter is available.

It is isn't it? I genuinely intended not to be template this time around - but my early drafts slowly evolved into this lot. I guess, the popular players are popular for a reason?!?

      Looks pretty solid AB.

Presumably you are on a WC? If so I think I'd be looking at Silva given his fixtures. I like the Lloris idea for the DGW but I think the cash can be better used elsewhere. I like the Mane pick btw - considering also.

Any temptation to go with Sturridge?

Thanks Jinswick. Yep, Im on WC.

Silva is definately tempting - and has been in a number of my draft teams. His fixtures vs Sterling's form is the classic fantasy football dilema. I'm gambling on Sterling becuase I think he has more upside - especially now that Sturridge is back.

Lloris is a cheeky short term pick for the DGW. He will be downgraded as soon as the DGW passes.

Sturridge is another one who I have toyed with - but I think that Aguero will score better and Kane and Giroud are better value. With Sterling in my team Im ok about not having Sturridge.

Having Zouma as your 3rd cheap defender may restrict you from easily getting Costa for the DGW if you wish to do it.

Good point. However I still have my other WC available - and will probably use that when the Chelsea DGW rolls around or if I want Costa earlier.

I like the Mane pick. I have so much cash I don't really need him but if I was hard up I think he's a great option in the mid price bracket.

Other than that its fairly template for a WC this week (I'm on a WC myself). Zouma could prove problematic if you want him for Chelsea's DGW as he will probably only start one game.

Yep, I rate Mane pretty highly too - he was great prior to ACON. I think he might be a bit of a differential *because* he is so cheap - I'm seeing lots of teams with 5x expensive midfielders - but SOU fixtures are too good not to have an attacking player imo.

Good point on cheaper mids being differentials. I'm happy to observe Southampton till after the Liverpool game but its still worth giving Mane a go.

Yep, the 'sensible' option is to monitor the SOU attacking options for the next little while. I just feel like I need one or two points of difference in my WC team - and Mane looks like he's worth a gamble. We'll see!

Also, your other comment re Zouma and the DGW is a good one. I'll definately be keeping an eye on his playing time. At his current price though - he's another one that looks too cheap not to take advantage of.

Ive strategically gone for Lloris to give myself an 'extra' DGW player in GW28 - I will downgrade him and reinvest the proceeds afterwards.

Quick poll. Couple of questions 🙂
    A) Wollscheid/Zouma and Jones
    B) Bellerin/Naughton and Fonte
    C) Bellerin/Naughton and Wollscheid
    --------------
    A) Colback/Boyd and Shelvey/Walters
    B) Mane and Boyd/4.7m mid
    C) Walters/Shelvey and Gils

Im not treating him as nailed on at all - but if the rest of your defence is reliable then I think he is worth the risk.

    can spurs shut arsenal out?
would be handy for those of us who haven't doubled or trebled up on arsenal's attack. a clean sheet at the lane could result in some low scores round here.

Not nailed on and not great, but Berahino has managed to upset half the team and so I'm not sure who we're going to have up front.

    Arsenal fun...

    On WC:

Sanchez, bench for a week in the hope he's back fit? Or Cazola?

How nailed is Bellerin? Is Kosc worth the extra?

Giroud - with Welbeck reputedly fit will his gametime vanish?

Sanchez -> he's out for this week and there is a 'chance' he might be fit for Leicester

Bellerin -> Its his spot to lose until Debuchy returns, he's much better than Chambers

Giroud -> form based, and he's in form

Cheers - it's the upside of potentially having Sanchez against Leicester when many won't vs potentially having a plummeting player on the bench for a couple of weeks whilst watching Cazola rack them up...
