These are difficult times for Granville. Sadly for him, his prediction that Diego Costa’s studs played into my hands along with Emre Can’s ankle proved correct – the Chelsea villain pushed me into a Gameweek 23 Wildcard and I cashed in.

It left Granville spitting feathers and 92-points behind but he remains defiant. Even with the millions draining from his squad via his active Wildcard, my resolute co-host is not giving up on keeping the season alive and the rivalry as bitter as ever.

We weigh up Granville’s latest options in his quest to close the gap: analysing the contest between Sturridge and Aguero for our place in our forward lines, check in on the fallout from the Sanchez injury, whilst wading through the usual regulars ahead of another Gameweek.

I asked this to a couple of people but its kind of lost up the page now ... I am just interested ( those of you from America ) how you came to be interested I'm football and the premier league ... Also do you have TV channels that play highlights of football.... This is the reason I struggle to get interested in NFL because of the lack of exposure.

It's kinda cool that guys from over the pond care about what's going on in Swansea lol

Actually for the past two years, NBC Sports broadcasts every Premier League game (TV+online) so it's become much easier to follow BPL, if you don't mind waking up super early on weekends to watch the opening fixture though!

i had a grandpa from italy who taught me SOCCER (ha Brits!) when i was 6 months old. took me to Cosmos games at Giants stadium....38 years later here i am. And if i understand your question, we have NBC, one of the major networks in America that own the PL rights...you can watch every game online, and they show the early and late game every Sat/ Sun and one of the middle games.

Hey, not sure if you saw my reply from when you originally asked. To add to it, I love travel and different cultures and people, and England in general fascinates me. Add to that my love for football, and it's a great match. The league is so darn entertaining for so many reasons. (been playing fantasy FPL for 7 or so seasons)

Ha ha. My parents are both from Pittsburgh, so I was raised to be a Steelers fan....even though I grew up in the Cleveland area. So fun to laugh at all my friends who are Browns fans. I have been to Cali numerous times. Actually spent 3 months in Davis living on a friend's couch before and tried to live in L.A. but ended up bouncing for various reasons after a month. Almost moved to San Fran....yada yada.....I have always had a place in my heart for the Golden State ( I think largely in part to the allure of that sunshine and ocean air when it's snowy, dark and freezing here!)

Yeah, well I shoveled snow! Ha...ha....wait......not so great. Nah, I do love the change of seasons, to be honest. I often think of returning to Cali some day. It honestly has some kind of fix on me like it's where I'm supposed to be. Hard to deny that mix of landscapes and weather and agriculture.....etc., etc. I've moved all around...spent time in Chicago, Colorado, North Carolina, and Georgia. Some time abroad studying. Love encountering new places. Back in my native Ohio now trying to plan my next move.

If nothing else, I've learned that wherever you are, there are things you won't exactly love about it and other things that will enjoy. Kind of that whole grass is greener thing. For me, I like to absorb a place for a while and then move on to another. It's intoxicating.....but also tough when you ain't exactly a millionaire. Man, I need millions to really fulfill my preferred lifestyle....lol 🙂

Played my whole life growing up until college. Was a solid defensive mid and centerback. Born in South America tho, just grew up in the US so naturally it was my first and only sport.

NBCSN covers all of the EPL in the US. We may have it better than those in the UK honestly. We can watch the all the games (including the 3pm games) live and online if you'd like. I normally have two monitors and two tvs going on Saturdays. I can record up to 4 games at once and we also have MOTD as well as other condensed format options where you can watch the highlights.

@dmhomag, in response to your thread about Silva,

He's a stand-out option for right now IMO, has a great run and still hasn't been slotted to the wing. With Silva in the #10 role, he shines both in real life and for FPL his form has been in the limelight ever since Aguero's injury and City playing w/o a front a man. For now, there are no worries of Pele reverting back to the 442 with Bony still at AFCON and the finale coming up on the 8th vs Ghana.

Thought when he's back after the final and if Pele slots him in the team right away, Silva's appeal will decrease substantially IMO. A 442 system or any system that doesn't include a traditional CAM or #10 role instantly limits Silva's potential for FPL. He's notoriously been labeled the quintessential "assister of assisters" of FPL (along with Modric) and for good reason, his role for Pele has for the majority of the time been on the left. Yes, his influence is still exceptional on the pitch as he's a great player but nevertheless he's never been a goal scorer and his FPL appeal has always been hindered for that reason. He's marginalized on the wings IMO, and his early season form was a by-product of that.

Great player? Of course. Fun to watch? Yes. But nevertheless, unless Pele somehow opts out of playing with 2 strikers up front, Silva will be the one who will be influenced the most from Bony's appearance and IMO, it will haunt his appeal exponentially. The odd assist will come for sure, yeah, but his goal scoring prowess of late will not be the same, and I'm certain this has never been Pele's expectation from him either on the wing. Aguero, YYT and Bony are better at it and I can't see how Silva's direct goal contribution will keep up with the likes of them on the pitch.

So, in summary, I will have Silva on my WC team for sure. City is the way to go IMO with those fixtures and no blanks (HUL, stk, NEW, liv, LEI, bur, WBA, cry). Pele will have quite the team at his disposal for this run) I expect their form to improve drastically and their charge for the title looks very good indeed. I do have money ITB to upgrade him when the 442 comes or when Silva is slotted to the left, probably to an Arsenal mid soon. He's not a long term for me, that's for sure.

Fwiw here are the stats and formations if you want to check them out
    From the 2013/2014 season http://www.espnfc.com/player/43815/david-silva?season=2013

Thanks Zan 😮 Silva is one of the best options in the midfield right now, great form and fixtures to boot. You really can't ague past him man mate, City milf of the month.

Good point on the value aspect, no way he warrant that much w/o offering goals and consistent points with assists. It's the very reason many are put off by AdM right now.

Thanks Zasa and I completely agree with every point of the analysis. Great minds...

Not sure if I am overthinking but my 2FT are to swap Spurs out for GW 25, 26 and next 2 FT to get 2 Spurs or (Costa) for GW 27, 28 which means Silva is stuck in my team until GW 29 (I plan on basis of no hits as injuries and suspensions happen). I am not sure I want to risk his imminent diminishing returns for 5 GW.

I had him from the beginning of his hauls back since GW17 when everyone was debating Nasri, Yaya, or Dzeko but unfortunately sold on WC last week to make room for Kun. 😆

Kinda regretting it now but I guess I can get him in for Sanchez. Still don't know what I'm going to do.

Nice man, he was golden in that time period. I was daft enough to go for Dzeko right when he got injured in the warm-up and recently punted on Jovetic for his goal and assist, Silva was the better option this whole time though not to my benefit 😡

Yeah, Silva ia a top milf right now. Your decision here mate, I'm going with Silva short term and sold Sanchez for him myself. May also get Sanchez back if he's fit for the Leicester game.

If you can afford to bench Sanchez, then it's a great route to take also

It's a hammy. If you were Wenker would you risk your best player out for the season for a midweek game 2 days away or rest him since the next GW is almost 2 weeks away? Especially when ARS is flooded midfield options.

2FT's and 3.0m in the bank. What to do with this lot:

    Panti / Heaton
    Terry / Clyne / Wisdom / PVA / Wasilewski
    Hazard / SANCHEZ / Silva / CHADLI / Boyd
    Aguero / Giroud / Kane

    A. Sachez & Chadli > Cazorla & Sterling
    B. Sachez & Chadli > Cazorla & Eriksen
    C. Just transfer Chadli > Caz, Sterling or Eriksen
    D. Hold

    Ehhh?

Ospina -- Krul an expensive pick

Downing is useless you can degrade him and upgrade JWP as well....even if it means loosing some value on Downing..just because of value no point keeping a player...

Think I'm going to leave myself short.

For me it's the difference between having Walter / Moses home to hull wk 27 or Boyd.

I'm pretty confident I won't get him back next week due to proximatey of the fixture then it's a case of deciding if I ride it out without him for cpl, EVE. The week after is round 28 and it all about DGW players anyway.

So worst case I can take an extra transfer / hit to sort it but hopefully won't come to that.

I can't decide to keep or sell for someone like Silva or Mane. It's driving me batty! If he's back to light training, which is what I have read, then seems sensible he'd be ready for the Leicester game. Plus, that game comes fast after the weekend, and some of the other Arsenal mids are just coming back from injuries of their own, so I think Arsene might just be playing a game of turns right now. I suspect he's just giving Sanchez a breather in the long run.

So strange that Granville talks about losing a lot of Team Value after having to sell many of his players like it's a bad thing?

    He's making money here!

Remember, we really only make (or lose) money when we sell or buy our players, right?

Example, last year my ML rival had Yaya from GW1 all the way until the end of the season.
Sure his team value shot up by several million, but since he never sold the big man he never got to use the cash that he *earned* elsewhere.

Now, I get that it's a bad idea to buy & sell a player like Yaya several times over during the season... Although, any idea that we've *lost something* by selling a player who has risen in price just isn't true.

I appreciate that, (listening to it right now) although they talk about TV much like people do in the forums:

"But, if I sell I'm going to lose .6mil on Costa!"

No you're not... you're going to make .3mil on the deal.
You'll only ever *lose* it if you buy the player back straight away & honestly, does that ever happen?

Oh, & let's say you do buy the player back at an increased price to what you got them at the first time around, who cares?
You presumably got points from their replacement so, you didn't really lose anything...

Previous ownership shouldn't influence buying a player again regardless of their current price.
