A sceptical Arsene Wenger admits Alexis Sanchez is determined to prove his fitness in time for tomorrow’s North London derby. Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama could return for Southampton’s trip to QPR. Everton could welcome back James McCarthy for the Merseyside derby. Connor Wickham is set to miss Sunderland’s trip to Swansea. Alan Pardew remains without Mile Jedinak for the weekend, while Ron Vlaar could make a return to action as Chelsea roll into town:

As Arsenal gear up for tomorrow lunchtime’s trip to Tottenham, Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that the Gunners would be without Alexis Sanchez due to an ongoing hamstring injury. This morning, however, Wenger initially ruled out the Chilean again only to backtrack and suggest he will be assessed:

“Sanchez is out but he wants to have a go (in training) today. It’s not easy to tell him he’s not playing. He wants to play – he’s so keen. He feels he can defy the medical people because he is so keen to play. I don’t know if he can. I will see today.”

Elsewhere, the Gunners boss revealed Danny Welbeck is back in the group, with the rest of the squad expected to be the same as the one that played Aston Villa, according to Wenger. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere remain out for the weekend, though are closing in on a return to full training.

Southampton have received a big boost ahead of their visit to Loftus Road, with Ronald Koeman confirming that midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama should be available for selection, after recent injury troubles. There is less positive news on Toby Alderweireld though, with Koeman ruling the Belgian out of Southampton’s next two league fixtures. New signing Filip Djuricic will also miss out at the weekend, as he’s still awaiting his work permit.

Roberto Martinez believes James McCarthy will be in Everton’s squad for the Merseyside derby, having refuted suggestions that the midfielder had suffered a setback on his return from injury. Meanwhile, Tim Howard has made a return to training, though is unlikely to be risked for the weekend and will instead be given an extra week to get fit, according to Martinez. The Toffees boss has also revealed that Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar are expected to make their returns from injury and join the rest of the squad soon.

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham has been ruled out the trip to Swansea with a calf injury picked up in midweek. Gus Poyet is also sweating on the fitness of Adam Johnson, Jack Rodwell and Emanuele Giaccherini for the weekend, with the trio all rated as “50-50” to be involved.

Alan Pardew has confirmed that skipper Mile Jedinak will miss the trip to Leicester, after returning from the Asian Cup with a sore ankle.

Ron Vlaar and Joe Cole could return from injury for Aston Villa ahead of the weekend visit of Chelsea. The pair had been absent with knee and hamstring injuries respectively, but are expected to be in contention to face the Blues should they come through their final training session today.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

I don't think they'd keep a CS this week so it's probably not worth it. If you really want him, it's probably best to bring him in before the Leicester game, this coming Tuesday IMO.

But I won't be able to afford if he rises to 4.5....he'd be on bench this weekend but would be used prominently in medium to long term......worth doing for that reason surely?

Yes worth it long term, but think about it this way: He prob won't get a clean sheet this week. Save your transfer and take the four point hit for tuesday, while transferring in another player you really want alongside.

This limits your risk of a Bellerín injury/sending off, or that of a more expensive defender in your squad

Yeah it's no problem for me to get him for Leicester, I don't think he'll start tomorrow, and even if he does it's not guaranteed points. My main concern would be that it might mean Walcott will miss out.

Keep money for Sánchez on Tuesday. Personally I think you have too strong a Midfield leaving you with Defoe up front. I could be wrong of course, and the team has a few differentials.

    Community feedback-

It would be cool if on the page where you see a persons posts, that the posts were all exploded out already just like a regular page/thread. You could then at a glance skim down a timeline of sorts of your favourite posters and look out for posts about situations/players you are looking for.
Currently the click to read more on each comment makes the page less useable for that purpose, esp. on touchscreen.

You mean on a user's profile? I think the length of some of the threads would make that page pretty unwieldy then, I know what you mean though - it would add context to the comments.

    Midfield ADM-Sanchez-Fab-Chadli-Boyd

Had Sanchez & Fab since start of season so looking a big cash hit.
Cash for Chadli + Fab to Silva + Cazorla.

Is Boyd really a weak option to come off bench WBA (h) and save Sanchez?
    Will Chadli start?

Hahah, I love how people are being tarred with the same brush RE selling ASanchez. Every case is unique -

How much did you buy him for?
Who are you going to bring in?
Is it going to cost you 4 points?
Is it going to cost you 8 points?
    Are you a WC?

So many factors there which can nullify posts like 'haha Sanchez sellers'. You need context before you jump in with your size 12s.

Personally I am selling Sanchez for -4 to get Silva, ive already lost 0.1 on him and I am not one bit bothered about that.

Yep, I sold for free to Silva, and although I lose value, I have the money to get him back. If Silva racks up big points this week, using 2 transfers isn't a big concern. It's a game about points, not about who can save all of their transfers.

Everyone in the top 10k will have him captain, don't make much difference.

No one else in my mini league has him and my two nearest rivals would need to take a hit to get him.

Cant decide (c) Silva or (c) Kun - hmmm... would be a sweet differentiator

Hello all. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm quite behind in my league and need to play my WC with some differentials/gambles in the hope of catching up. What do you think to:

    De Gea Pants
    Wisdom Terry Clyne PVA Bellerin
    Haz Coutinho Downing Boyd Walters
    Sturridge Kun Kane

    £1.6 left in the bank.

I have free reign on this with it being a WC so I'm very open to suggestions.

    Cheers guys

Difficult isnt it. I'd probably want another ARS player, so Caz out of those.

    Sanchez -->

    A: Cazorla
    B: Walcott
    C: Ozil

Leaning towards B, just because I love the man!

Judging by the Wenger news, Sanchez has a slight chance of playing tomorrow? It doesn't sound like he's definitely out.

      First three words ....

“Sanchez is out but he wants to have a go (in training) today. It’s not easy to tell him he’s not playing. He wants to play – he’s so keen. He feels he can defy the medical people because he is so keen to play. I don’t know if he can. I will see today.”

he is fit but the medical people were initially wrong so wenger doesnt know who to believe. the truth is sanchez defies the laws of nature and the medical people couldnt have made the right diagnosis in the first place.
