The weekend cup defeat by in-form Liverpool may have paused Palace’s recent momentum but the narrow 2-1 reverse means Alan Pardew can now concentrate solely on Premier League matters. After producing three wins and a draw in five top-flight matches since their new manager rolled up to Selhurst Park last month, the Eagles now sit five points clear of the drop zone with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.

Bearing in mind that Palace managed just three wins in their first 20 league outings prior to Pardew’s installation, it’s fair to say their form is very much on the up. With that in mind, we turn to the latest addition to our members section – the Team Profiles and Comparison Tool – to assess the impact of the former Newcastle boss as he looks to replicate Tony Pulis’ 2013/14 heroics and steer Palace to safety. These tools allow us to pinpoint any areas of improvement and/or issues of concern, in addition to highlighting the players who have benefitted most of all.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yeah man. I've had a change of schedule in January and Feb. That coupled with not much to discuss meant Ive been off the site quite a bit. Trying to be more productive in my life learning Korean and exercising. You'd be amazed how little you want to discuss fantasy prospects of Burnley defensive assets etc. after that 😆

The only season in 9 years that i've got my WC at this stage and there are practically no DGWs to use it on.

Is it really worth using for GW28?

No. Hope for a better one to come. think you can fit most players in easily for this DGW

I've still got mine and I don't think I'll use it for GW28. There just doesn't seem the need. I would only be making about 2 changes, and I feel that a better, or more necessary, opportunity will present itself.

There can be another DGW, atleast..
Guess it also depends on what your main goal is, mine is to win a cash minileague (again) so its always nice to have the WC saved...

So many ifs buts and maybe's this week considering injuries in Europa, Chelsea Leicester with balancing GW27 with GW28.
I want Costa but involves a double change. I look 3 GW's forward and it really is swings and roundabouts.
Those who held on to their WC are not going to get the benefits in season's past.
A post out of sheer boredom.

As of right now, yes. But youre still gonna want 3 from Chelsea, atleast 2 from Spurs and possibly one or two from QPR/Leicester, and by doing that youre gonna have problems the gw before. So i think making a sideways transfer like that is just not necessary.

Ron Vlaar. Potential Wisdom replacement (have 4.4m to spend).

Pros - Nailed on, 4.3m, decent fixtures, bonus points magnet

Cons - Unsure how defensively sound Villa will be under Sherwood, had an injury-plagued season

    Thoughts?

Too risky with too little reward when you can just get Hutton for the same price. The extra bps arent worth the risk.

Yes, and not just this season. Coming back from a serious injury usually means easing back in, and as you said, we dont know how Sherwood will make them look. If both were fit and nailed on, Vlaar would be my preferred choice too, but when youre going for a cheap defender like that the most important part is that they play every game and have a few decent home fixtures. Having them not play for various reasons is just devastating.

I dont disagree with that. I just think the risk doesnt match the reward when you can just as easily get Hutton, or wait. But youre the boss man 🙂

I disagree. Sponatenous reactions, fine - i have no problem with that. But Rooney does something else, he always tries to influence the referee to change his mind, and to me thats just lack of class. People hated on Barcelona players for years over this, but when its Rooney, everyone seemingly just turns the cheek. But yes, ive said for years that hes a diver. At this point in time, youd be hard pressed to find anyone who never dives.

Screw the rules you can't blame the ref for giving it or the player for going down, keeper been rightly punished for a rash tackle. With replays it's no pen but live it will be given more often than not. The keeper needs to make a better decision there not the ref

Now youre just trying to justify his actions. We were discussing whether or not Rooney is a dive/dove to get the penalty, which he clearly did as there was absolutely no contact. The opporunity for diving is there every single game, doesnt mean you have to take it. But Rooney did, and has been doing it for years.

And actually you are wrong. The keeper made a bad decision to rush out thinking he could reach the ball before Rooney, but he didnt touch him. Rooney then made a worse decision by diving, and the referee made the worst decision out of all three parties involved when he dove.

Screw the rules just simply doesnt apply, my good sir.

Rooney has every right to go down there, he is punishing the keeper's mistake. Any striker worth their salt does exactly the same thing in that spot. It's completely different to diving when the defender has done nothing wrong

Youre actually insane. You think youre right, but youre not. Youre actually condoning diving just because the circumstances are in his favour. Do you not hear how dumb that logic is?

So Rooney should have to hurdle a flying torpedo to get to the ball? The keeper messed up and was punished, what's fairer than that?

But because they are a popular team he's given the benefit of the doubt like Manu as a whole always do e.g. Somehow escaping FFP fine despite spending triple that of City. And no, they did not compensate it with their sponsorship deals as it was reported that their revenues fell by £17m due to the lack of CL football despite the new sponsorship deals.

Biased all around from the FA to the media just to save them from more negativity.

And how do you think profit is calculate? Let me give it to you:

              Profit = Revenue - Cost

Now look above and fit it in yourself.

Just because a club spends more and makes less than the season before doesn't automatically mean they've breached FFP - the starting position is important.

That's true, but how well above the FFP standards were Manu originally? The margin above is over 117m pounds + the mad wages they pay.

Oh dear, here are two points:

                1. Man City will not be fined £50m they got away with a £16m fine
                2. You've provided the calculation for profit yet still believe that Man Utd should be caught by FFP! Here are the last two years worth of figures for the two clubs. Now if you still believe Man Utd and not Man City should be caught by FFP as it currently stands there's no helping you.

                Manchester City
                2014
                Revenue £346.5m (MU £433.2m)
                Loss £23m (MU £23.9m profit)

                2013
                Revenue £271 (MU £363m)
                Loss £51.6m (MU £146m profit)

Mate, let me guide you step-by-step.

                  1) You take Manu's 2013 profit (146m)
                  2) Subtract it by 17m (the loss in revenue)
                  3) Subtract it by another 150m + nearly 1m a week in additional wages paid (ADM, Falcao, Shaw, Blind, Herrera, Rojo)
                  4) Sum it up and tell me how did they come up with that 23.9m figure.

City apparently met the threshold for a 50m fine with that 23m loss. In that same year, how did Manu escape it with a 47m loss as calculated above? Fix your maths mate.

                    :insertrollyeyegifhere:

I didn't "come up" with those figures they are the reported figures in their annual accounts and are provided to the NYSE

                    https://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=NYSE:MANU&fstype=ii

Key thing to remember, FFP is calculated over a number of years not based on one year. Since Man City had been making heavy losses they were caught by FFP, however Man Utd due to their past profits will not be caught by FFP after one year of over spend.

See below. Manipulation of profits are extremely common which was clearly overlooked by the FA in this case because, why would they want to fine a popular club like Manu?

Nice way to sum up your argument with a solid "there's no helping you" by the way. Really smart way to end off your argument which was based on googling up Manu's balance sheet. If that was too sophisticated for you as you can't believe your eyes that Manu's 2014 profits were manipulated, here's something new for you: It very obviously is.

I'm sorry I thought I could reason with you and show you how FFP calculated over a number years based on profits (which Man Utd make) and losses (which Man City make) would sure you why you were wrong in your assertion that Man Utd should be caught by FFP.

If however you just believe it's a big conspiracy played out between Man Utd, UEFA, the FA et all then I'm out. Have a good day.

                      🙄

All I'm saying is that Manu clearly manipulated their profits, just like many businesses making losses do. I never said that there was a conspiracy, but for whatever reason, whether the FA didn't notice the manipulation or chose not to overlook it, the manipulation is still there. Don't change the subject.

Ramsey`s injured, Welbeck not even close to nailed on, Cazorla always was overrated and most of his returns have been from set pieces/penalties. Özil or Walcott and Sanchez/Giroud, 2 out of those 3.

Which player to own doesn't really come under a team comparison. These type of articles are for comparing two different teams, or the same team over two different periods. E.g. Liverpool playing 4-3-3 vs 3-4-3, Palace pre-Pardew and with Pardew.

Ive had some bad luck regarding Kane. Actually had him and sold him just before his run started, then i got Dzeko (who got injured), then Giroud (who got sent off), and then i got Kane but sold him and kept Austin because his stats were far superior to Kane`s. Stubborn as a donkey. But having Kane doesnt allow me to climb the ladder, which is why i didnt get him.

While it's quiet! For Spurs DGW I'm not sure if I want to do:

    A) Defoe and Wollscheid to Kane and Rose for free
    B) Defoe and Walcott(QPR) to Kane and Eriksen for free
    C) Defoe, Walcott and Wollscheid to Kane, Eriksen and Rose -4.

Which do ye prefer? Seems a shame selling Walcott before qpr. Have Sanchez also

I would have thought Kane and Erik are enough Spuds. They are an unreliable bunch of oiks at the best of times.

Spurs are home to Leicester in gw 30 after the DGW. Could hold Spurs assets til then at least. Will hold Kane anyway

Rose is also a wildcard, he could easily have been sent off multiple times this season for rash challenges and loss of temper.

Looking at fixures I'm hoping chelsea double ain't gw28

    Doesn't seem right. Taking out

    Silva LEI
    GIroud qpr

    But want

    Eriksen (double)
    Costa (if double)

Probably not. Hes expensive and Spurs have a way of conceding in games where you`d really think they could keep cleanies. Its not awful by any stretch, but i think i`ll suffice with Kane/Eriksen, however boring it may be.

SWANS/qpr in dgw28, I'd fancy 1 shutout but it's risky with spurs, Vert seems the safest option but will be difficult to crowbar him in.

Yeah i noticed the fixtures, but as i said i just dont trust Spurs enough to shell out almost £6m for a defender. I do think it could be a nice differential though.
