[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

This lunchtime, we’re updating you on those players who are just one mistimed tackle or display of dissent away from a two-match ban. At present, four players – Gareth Barry, Phil Bardsley, Lee Cattermole  and Neil Taylor – are on the precipice with nine yellow cards to their name and will be tiptoeing their way towards the April 12 cut-off date.

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the omission of Jack Colback from our suspension shortlist – much to manager John Carver’s ire, the Newcastle midfielder picked up the crucial tenth yellow for throwing the ball away in frustration after being pulled up for a foul during Saturday’s 5-0 hammering at City. The 25-year-old’s ill-discipline means he’ll sit out home ties against Aston Villa and Manchester United

Gareth Barry served a one-match suspension by missing Everton’s encounter with Leicester City and will now need to time his tackles perfectly if selected to face Arsenal’s elusive forwards next weekend. Meanwhile, Lee Cattermole returned for Sunderland following a six-match injury break, giving the no-nonsense midfielder the near-implausible task of refraining from any rash challenges for six Gameweeks.

With no new additions to the nine-yellow club, Blues duo Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas remain the most high-profile candidates just two slip-ups away from a spell on the sidelines. Southampton and Aston Villa have the most representation – with four each – among those players needing three yellows or fewer to topple off the tightrope.

In terms of players serving out suspensions, Joey Barton and Nemanja Matic both face three-match bans on the grounds of violent conduct, with the latter reacting to a dangerous tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes. Upon further review, the FA decided not to take any further action against the Clarets’ forward, citing the fact that referee Martin Atkinson witnessed the incident as justification for sticking with the on-field decision. Nonetheless, Chelsea are reportedly set to appeal Matic’s ban.

Elsewhere, Ron Vlaar was given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card for hauling down Stoke City’s Victor Moses in the penalty box last weekend, meaning he’ll sit out Aston Villa’s Gameweek 27 clash away to Newcastle United. Likewise, West Ham’s Morgan Amalfitano will play no part his team’s upcoming London derbies against Palace and Chelsea, having seen straight red in the Hammers’ 4-0 FA Cup defeat to West Brom.

Finally, Southampton welcome Ryan Bertrand back into the fold for their match-up with the Baggies next weekend – the former Chelsea left-back sat out the third and final match of his suspension during Sunday’s home loss to Liverpool.

Best option to fill in the blank? Only £4.2m to spend.

    Krul, Panti
    Koscielny, Rose, Clyne, Naughton, _____

Would prefer a defender that isn't from any of the above clubs.

Worth doing Colback > Ki (or even Ibe?) for a -4?

If I don't I've only got 10 players, with the risk of 9 if Bellerin doesn't play (or 8 if PvA doesn't). Burnley at home, could pay off

Think i'd still do Walcott > Ozil for a week then get Eriksen next week. PVA to Rose ain't a bad idea either though.

Doesn't look like you need any changes (perhaps 3 Arsenal in attack is overkill?). So you could do PVA > Rose and bench him. Benefit from 2 games next GW and use transfers for Eriksen, etc.

Hi all, could do with a bit of help, in a sticky situation. Currently only have 9 players playing this weekend!

    Forster
    Terry* Jones PVA
    Mane Boyd Silva Sanchez Hazard*
    Aguero Giroud

    Guzan Kane* Wasileski* Yun*

Onlyh ave 1FT and 0.6m ITB. I don't mind taking a -4hit if it means having 11 players available. Also don't mind getting rid of Terry!

    Would appreciate some input. Cheers

With #10 in the world admitting he's run multiple teams this year, and that guy who had multiple teams in the top 10 a few years ago, how many of the top FPL players do you think get there by running multiple teams?

Not many, multiple email addreses and accounts equals organisational nightmare. But there are always a few.

So, Albrighton to Moses or Baird to Dawson?

Either would work. For this week, I'd go for Moses, and Baird to someone like Rose next week if you can. If not, I'd just make all 3 moves this week if you have 2FTs. Would be worth the hit imo.

Hey lads, what changes would you make here?

    Krul
    Jones - Trippier - Wisdom - PvA
    Sanchez - ADM - Mane - AJ
    Aguero - Giroud

    Panti; Kane, Hazard, Terry
    0.2ITB + 2FT

Would prefer AJ and Wisdom out ASAP, and I don't mind using 2FTs this week as I'll most likely only make 1, maybe 2, FTs next week anyways.

he's cheap, nailed, and will only play a cameo role when certain teams don't play - such as next gameweek.

Newcastle plays Villa at home, so if I can get 6 pts from that this week, I'm fine with him on my bench the next few weeks.

Are there any budget Stoke defenders worth getting in? They have some pretty nice fixtures.

      Wollscheild prob the best option.

Not too confident in their clean sheet ability though.

PVA & Zouma > Haidara & Dawson for free good moves? 🙂

Haidara essentially just for this week, need guaranteed starters. Can sort him out with my WC again.

Boring? It'll separate those who have good squad planning from those who don't. Teams will be less template and there will be more captain punts than usual due to no standout options. That sounds exciting to me! 😀

Maybe. Most ppl seem to be bringing in the same defenders.

I think not taking hits this week could pay divedends

Sometimes the weeks we think will be high-scoring end up a disappointment, and vice-versa, so ya never know 😉 great week to make up ground or extend leads over other if you get it right.

    Aguero, Defoe, N'Doye

    Hamer, Terry, Bruce, Johnson

If you were looking for a cheap defender who you needed to get to 10 for the week and already have Yoshida, Ospina and Lescott, would you go Bellerin, Dawson or someone else to replace PVA? I'm leaning Dawson under the Fortress Pulis theory, but could see going in a different direction as well.

      Go with Dawson.

WBA defender is a good shout under Pulis. Pulis knows how to get clean sheets.

Do we know whether Aldy is back and fit for Southampton? Will he come straight back into the side for Yoshida?

Unknown as yet. If fit then he should come straight back in. Wait for the presser later in the week. I have him penciled in also, but fear he may come up short this week.

Could really do with him being fit - the money saved on him rather than Clyne/Fonte/Berty would come in handy!

Wait for presser or training pics. Only way to know. He may not be match fit since he's been out a month, so no guarantee he'll slot straight back in, but he's a class act so there is a good chance.

Wouldn't be too confident that he would go straight back into the side.

Walters looks tempting at home to Hull.

ADM, Siggy, Moses, Downing probably the best for 1 week only.

That said, if you don't already have him I'd look at Silva.

Got ADM and Downing, not sure I like Silva away at a solid Liverpool plus I have a bad Silva ownership history, he is in form though.

Think ive found a mistake in fixtures on FPL

go on Boyds history and it says he has already played Stoke twice (GW 2 and 12) then also says he is playing them on the penultimate game of the season! Not seen something like this before, normally very accurate
