There’s no time to rest in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game as a double Gameweek 29 looms on the horizon. As always, we look back on our data from the previous week and bring you the usual info including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends, the Watchlist and a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 28 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Aston Villa vs StokePhilipp Wollscheid
Chelsea vs BurnleyEden Hazard
Crystal Palace vs ArsenalJason Puncheon
Hull vs QPRRobert Green
Sunderland vs West BromSebastian Larsson
Swansea vs Man UnitedKi Sung-Yueng
Man City vs NewcastleDavid Silva
Tottenham vs West HamAaron Cresswell
Everton vs LeicesterJamie Vardy
Southampton vs LiverpoolMartin Skrtel

Eden Hazard took his MoTM tally to nine, equaling last season’s best total – all the more impressive given he contributed only with an assist in the 1-1 home draw against Burnley. Philipp Wollscheid is another interesting option; the 5.4m centre-back has started only six matches but has managed to pick up two awards already despite Stoke struggling to keep opponents at bay. David Silva’s sensational form continues after he picked up his sixth MoTM – only Hazard has received more awards.

Gameweek 28 Bonus Points

Only two goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves this week. Adrian and Simon Mignolet were the men in question, with Mignolet’s clean sheet helping him to nine points. Robert Green is still streets ahead, though, with 24 bonus points earned.

In defence, seven players grabbed bonus, five for tackles and two for passes completed. Southampton’s Jose Fonte was the closest to picking up both, missing out by just five completed passes. Man City full-back Pablo Zabaleta is now the leading bonus point gatherer at the back with 18 additional points so far.

In midfield, there were 13 beneficiaries in total: eight for tackling and seven for passes. Cesc Fabregas and Fernandinho were the two to pick up both to earn an additional four points. Nemanja Matic is still the game’s overall highest bonus point earner with 42 points credited.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
FerQPR55.8%
RooneyMan United9.45%
BertrandSouthampton5.14.1%
MaticChelsea7.34%
PelleSouthampton7.43.3%

Leroy Fer, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Bertrand see continued sales as they all feature for the second week running. Fer remains injured and Rooney is well out of form, though Bertrand is now back for the Saints following his three-match suspension. Nemanja Matic’s red card means he will miss Chelsea’s next league match, whilst Graziano Pelle owners finally lose patience after a barren run in front of goal.

Top Transfers In

KaneTottenham6.77.4%
CostaChelsea9.56.7%
AgueroMan City9.83.7%
SturridgeLiverpool9.82.6%
Sung-YuengSwansea52.5%

Harry Kane and Diego Costa are again the top two targets this week, followed by two heavy hitting forwards in Sergio Aguero and Daniel Sturridge as Fantasy managers seek to refresh their strike forces. Budget option Ki Sung-Yeung makes up the five and looks a great option following his goal and MoTM display at the weekend.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few players with sub-5% ownership that could be good options in the coming weeks. The players are split up into three separate price categories to cater for your available budget – these names evolve with fixtures and form and hopefully offer Fantasy managers a nudge in the right direction.

Notes

A tally of 53 points meant a slight dip in ranking this week, which is not ideal at this time of the season. I feel I’m getting a tad unlucky with my team recently, considering on paper I think it looks pretty strong. Patrick Van Aanholt’s benching at the weekend presents a dilemma as the Dutchman’s omission from the Sunderland XI looks concerning regarding his future minutes. With Angel di Mara failing to justify his price tag, I’m weighing up a double swap, with Craig Dawson and one of Samir Nasri/Raheem Sterling/Christian Eriksen or even Philippe Coutinho to come in. At this stage I want differentials to have a chance of climbing so that may rule out Sterling and Eriksen. I’ll have to delve into some stats and make a decision but will probably give Di Maria the Saturday match against Sunderland before making the switch. This would leave me with only ten transfers and is definitely a risk but I feel I have to in order to try and make the top 100 this season.

Captain plan
As per usual in a double Gameweek, the opportunity for four captains is there if you wish to use transfers. Many, however, will be in a position like myself without that luxury.

My plan is to leave the armband on Sadio Mane for Saturday’s match against West Brom, ignore Sunday’s matches – thus leaving the captain with Mane for the Saints home encounter against Crystal Palace on Tuesday – and then use my switch to make Harry Kane my skipper for Wednesday’s fixtures.

Although Sergio Aguero at home to Leicester on Wednesday looks a fantastic option, leaving the armband on him will create issues the following Gameweek, when the only fixture is QPR vs Tottenham.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and are currently topping the Private League rankings. With a £1,000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch the rerun of Fenners and Merse at 18:30 SkySports One HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris and asking Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes for his #One2Eleven.

I may go with Sanchez, if he fails me i may take him out of my team. He costs too much money and is not producing nearly enough now that Arsenal have many points-getters in their team since players are back from injury etc. Last chance saloon

Seems like lots are in this spot, including me. Basically it's whether it just replace Wisdom or replace PVA as well with your 2FT. I'd do Wisdom>Dawson to get some WBA cover but then you still might only field 9 or 10 (most likely 10)

So consider PVA>someone as well, maybe Wolly?
