Bought Rooney (c) this morning for Giroud for a hit cos think Giroud may not start. My original plan was to upgrade Rooney to Costa for next GW. Will I have the nerve to? I need to watch MOD later to see if Rooney has turned a corner

That's the point. If you look at his record he has ALWAYS scored goals when played upfront.
United get a hard time for the way they play, and maybe deservedly considering how much they have spent and how good they have been in the PL era. But even at their current standard they are still way better than most teams in the PL. Rooney playing upfront and on pens for them will score goals. Simple as that.
