A dire Gameweek 29 limps to its conclusion this evening as Swansea and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Liberty. Brendan Rodgers returns to his former club having guided the Reds to a 12-match unbeaten run since moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation and the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge have the chance to get amongst the points against a defence with a single shut-out in six in front of their own fans.

At the back, the visitors have been a consistent source of clean sheets in recent matches. The Merseysiders have kept out their opponents in six of the last eight Gameweeks and have Martin Skrtel available after the Slovakian recovered from a head knock that forced him off on a stretcher against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup stalemate last time out. Mamadou Sakho also returns as one of three centre-backs as Dejan Lovren drops to the bench. Rodgers has made further changes in the wing-back roles, with Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic dropping to the bench: Alberto Moreno is recalled on the left while Raheem Sterling looks to be deployed on the right.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss at Spurs in Gameweek 28. Prior to that defeat, Garry Monk’s men had registered back-to-back victories and earned three points in their previous match at the Liberty, courtesy of a 2-1 win over United.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was back in the goals last time out and has the upcoming fixtures to earn himself a place in our five-man midfields again, whilst Ki Sung-Yeung has notched three times in the last five and, at 5.1 in FPL, is staking a claim as a cheap budget option.

The teamsheet finds Monk forced into one change as Jordi Amat comes in for Federico Fernández who misses out for family reasons. Up front, Bafetimbi Gomis is available to lead the line after recovering from his collapse at White Hart Lane in the previous Gameweek.

Jones fracture, 6-8 weeks no weight bearing and then decide after that about surgery. should be up and about and active by mid-May but ortho recommended no contact sports until Sept/Oct 😐

much better overall than my ACL tear two years ago, this will be more of an annoyance than anything else

Prognosis is not good. I have radial nerve palsy as a result of the break so no use of my right hand for what could be several months while the nerve heals. I had an operation, 10 metal pins put in my arm. I did a good job of it thats for sure! Tell me about it, would love a shower. Wet flannels for the foreseeable though!

think you gotta remove Austin, I'm not sure on Cazorla as I don't think he is a rotation risk so much as he was rested in anticipation of Monaco..

Giroud looks a good add, but would obviously wait until after the CL game for any transfers to be safe.

I'm tempted to look at Rooney in for Austin myself 😯 (but will probably chicken out)

    Funny story

Was just walking my border colly last night, saw several leaves fly up into the air. Swirling they were. Then they just fell back down without warning.

I thought, that was lucky. If the winds were 30mph stronger it may have made it hard to walk the dog home in.

I best check the weather forecast before I walk the dog next time. I'm so silly.

    Couple questions:

    1. Do we expect Bellerin to start again this weekend after Chambers' unconvincing-at-best performance vs West Ham?

    2. Can we also expect Clichy to start vs West Brom since he's banned for Barcelona and presumably Kolarov will be playing in that one.

....I'm more confident about the first than the second

    Urgently need some advice.

I took top spot in my mini-league this week and really want to consolidate my position at the top now that there's only 8 more GWs left,

I want to know what teams are likely to have DGWs (is Southampton one?)

My nearest and most likely challenger in the mini-league tends to take -4/-8 hits every week and is more likely to now that he has ground to make up.

I want to do the following changes:
    A) Puncheon > Mane
    B) Aguero > Costa
    C) Naylor > Terry
    D) Foster > Forster
    E) Sanchez > Ramsey

I intend to make these transfers over the next two GWs taking -8/-4 hits in the process.

Would any of these changes be affected by the DGWs as I would see that as a plus.

Thank you very much for any advice in advance.

GW33 blanks: Arsenal, QPR, Villa, Sunderland. Liverpool and Hull if Liverpool beat Blackburn in the FA Cup replay.

GW34 probable doubles: All those teams, plus Chelsea & Leicester.

I think only the moves to Chelsea players have dgw implications, and in a favorable way. Not commenting on the quality of the trades as I'm assuming some moves are needed to create funds for others.

Yes they are. Others are motivated by my rivals team selection.

        My current team is

        Foster - Pants

        Dawson - Clyne - Ivan - Naylor - PvA

Sanchez- Eriksen - Silva - Puncheon - Henderson

        Kane - Aguero - Giroud

If I make all the proposed changes my team would be

        FORSTER - Pants

        Dawson - Clyne - Ivan - TERRY - PvA

        RAMSEY - Eriksen - SIlva - MANE - Henderson

        Kane - COSTA - Giroud

That, to me, looks a solid team (minus PvA and Pants)

no dgw for saints. from memory I think it's chelsea arsenal pool qpr leicester villa. some confirmed in 34 the rest in 34 or 37. most have blank in 33. if pool lose to blackburn they won't have a blank or a double.

Include all this info in your original post in future if you can mate. No one can answer the question fairly tbh. What transfer have you made this week already?

I wouldn't get Costa, partly cos he's not the best value, and partly cos you can still get him for the DGW in your WC. But I'm not sure I'd take a hit at all. That's a mega amount to have in your bank though lol, how did you end up with that?

I might save actually as not sure it's worth a hit to get Grioud. But then he misses a GW, so if I didn't get him this week I doubt it'd be worth getting him to play 2 out of 3 GW's (at most) before you sell him for Costa in WC.

Your team is surprisingly decent given you have £7.4m in the bank! Maybe save and reassess next week?

Post was done in haste (at work) so my apologies for not including all relevant info!

I have done Sanchez -> Mane.

Haha jumped on a few cash wagons. That's about it!

I mean I'd have kept Sanchez this week for sure, and just done Austin>Giroud instead, but oh well it's done now lol. Mane could score big ofc also vs Burnley.

Think about what you want to do the next GW or two, if you don't get Giroud this week, then I wouldn't get him at all due to the blank. It's hard to justify doing it for a hit, but then I'd want to get some value out of that £7.5m!

I was planning ahead to Arsenal's blank so it didn't bother me that Sanchez was going!

I am Austin owner and am torn between holding for a decent home fixture vs Everton, or moving to giroud for a decent, but away, fixture @ Newcastle. I feel like the prudent move is to hold, but it's tough watching giroud consistently produce. QPR is much more unreliable.

That's the tension hey. I'm holding based on Fionnmac's advice and Gru's impending blank.

I've never been a fan of Giroud in fantasy but he's been bucking that trend the past few months.

              I won't be tempted 😛
