After the fun and frenzy of the cricket World Cup, I present to you the Fantasy IPL 2015. The tournament gets under way on the 8th of April and cricket and Fantasy sports fans in general can register for the Fantasy IPL game here. Upon doing so, you’ll be sent a verification email which you must click on to complete registration and create your team. Below is a list of the rules, including how scoring and transfers work, and at the end, you can find the code to join the FFScout league for the Fantasy IPL game.

THE RULES

SELECTING AN XI:

For Tournament Mode and Match Mode, you have 1 million Credits to build a squad of 11 players. Each player has been assigned roles (batsman, all-rounder, wicket keeper, bowler), and a price (ranging from 60,000 Credits to 110,000 Credits).

    • Squad Balance:
    • four or five batsmen.
    • At least one all-rounder.
    • Exactly one wicket keeper (you can pick variable role wicket keepers as batsmen)
    • At least two bowlers.
  • Team Spread: Not more than six players from any one ICC Cricket World Cup team.
  • Overseas Limit: You can pick a maximum of four overseas players in your squad.
  • Uncapped Quota: Your squad must have at least one uncapped player. An uncapped player is an Indian cricketer who has not played in any ODIs, Tests or T20 Internationals.
  • Once you have selected a squad, you can pick any one player from your XI to be the Power Player. Your Power Player earns you double points, so he can make a big difference to your score. Your XI will start earning points from the next match.
  • Remember, for Match Mode, you need to select a new XI for each match. You have to select your squad, and choose your Power Player before the first ball of a match is bowled. Winners will be declared for each match based on the points scored.

SCORING

Batting Points

  • Base Score: 1 point per run.
  • Impact Score: 2 points per six, -5 for a duck.
  • Milestone Bonus: 10 points for every 25 runs scored.
  • Pace Bonus: Runs Scored – Balls faced.

Bowling Points

  • Base Score: 20 points per wicket.
  • Impact Score: 1 point per dot ball, 20 points for a maiden over.

Fielding Points

  • Catch: 10 points.
  • Stumping: 15 points.
  • Direct Hit: 15 points.
  • Run Out: 10 points for each player involved.

Bonus Points

  • Player of the Match: 25 points.
  • Victory bonus: 5 points for victory in League Stage. 10 points for victory in Playoffs.
  • Milestone Bonus: 10 pointsfor the 2nd wicket, 10 points for each subsequent wicket.
  • Pace Bonus: 1.5 x Balls – Runs conceded. If it is positive, it is doubled.

CHANGING YOUR SQUAD

Substitutions

Before the tournament: Unlimited subs.

Match 1 to Match 56: 75 subs.

After Match 56 and before Qualifier 1: Unlimited subs.
Qualifier 1 to Final: 10 subs.

LOCK IN, POWER PLAYER & UNCAPPED SUBS

  • Teams are locked when the first ball of a match is bowled.
Changes made after the first ball of a match is bowled will not affect points earned in that match. So if you drop a player after the first ball of the match is bowled, he’ll still earn points for you in that match.
  • For the Daily Challenge, you can make unlimited substitutions till the first ball of the first match of the day is bowled. You cannot make any changes to your squad for that day after the first ball of the day is bowled.
  • You can change your Power Player as many times as you want. So remember to change it for every match.
  • Every match, you can bring in one uncapped player into the squad without it counting as a substitution. So, picking an uncapped player for each match is a great strategy.

STEALTH MODE

Every hotly contested league has a few crucial matches, when you’re making critical substitutions and trying to earn as many points as possible. In such cases, hiding your squad changes from opponents adds a massive strategic advantage.

Stealth Mode is a feature that lets you do exactly that. You can activate Stealth Mode in the Confirm Substitutions panel in the Change Squad page.

Once activated, other users will not be able to see your current squad. Instead, when they visit your page, they will see the squad and updated time for the previous match. There will be no indication that you are in Stealth Mode, it will simply look like you’ve made no changes since the previous match.

If you are in Stealth Mode, you can make any number of changes and none of them will be visible. Your new squad is revealed only after the next lock-in.

You can activate Stealth Mode for any five matches of your choice, from Match 2 onwards.

SCHEDULED SUBSTITUTIONS

There may be days on which you are unable to make substitutions because you may be travelling, stuck in a meeting or stranded on a desert island. In such situations, scheduling your substitutions beforehand is a big relief.

The Scheduled Substitutions feature lets you schedule changes one match in advance, by clicking on the “Schedule Substitutions” link on your home page. You can also review or cancel scheduled subs from your homepage.

You can only schedule subs for the match after the next one. So if the next match is Match 5, you can schedule squad changes for Match 6.

All Scheduled Substitutions for a match will be automatically performed after the lock-in of the previous match.

Warning: If you have subs scheduled for a match, you cannot make changes to your squad unless you cancel those scheduled subs.

You can also choose to activate Stealth Mode along with your Scheduled Substitutions.

The Scheduled Substitutions feature can be used any number of times.

In Match Mode, you choose a new squad for each match. You can make unlimited changes to this squad and the Power Player till the first ball of the match is bowled.

The code to join the FFS league is 17538.

I’d be happy to help with potential starting elevens and if you need help scouting Indian players.

This game's gone pretty badly for me, only 124pts from Duminy PP, Agarwal, Pandey, S.Yadav, Russell & Uthappa.

Will take a big knock from Russell or a Duminy wicket to maintain rank at this rate.

I've got Watson (PP), Rahane, Tambe, Vijay and Sandeep.

Maxwell and Sehwag could hurt me, if neither of them score big I should rise in the rankings.

5 KKR in the first game.

Dunno about the second one. Will depend on the pitch. But it's usually high scoring in Bangalore anyways.

Also it's the South Indian derby and has history of big totals. 🙂

4-5 games into the season. How do you see the top 4 shape up?

RR,KKR and CSK are nailed imo. 4th spot is up for grabs. Got a feeling that DD will take it.

    So my predictions-

    1. RR
    2. KKR
    3. CSK
    4. DD

very true. Malinga has been a shadow of his former self. RCB have a slightly better attack for me with Stark & Chahal. They just need Aaron to sort his form out

Great to see Starc back. Best bowler in the world these days. AB run-out turned the game, RCB desperately need a win now, but i don't think they'll get it vs the Royals

    1. pundit of punts
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 9 months ago

      Doubt it.

Can see them struggling this season. Don't think their bowling is at par with some other teams. Only Starc and Chahal are good.

They struggle with their 5th bowler and the Indian bowlers are all second rate.

The batting would always have to bail them out.

      1. Demí
        • 15 Years
        10 years, 9 months ago

I think Starc is good enough to win games on his own with the ball. If he can get early wickets at the start, and then keep it tight as he always does for his last 2 overs at the end, it won't matter too much that the other bowlers perform poorly. Been more disappointed with their batting than bowling so far, which was always a weakness.

          • 13 Years

You hit the nail on the head. They are too reliant on Starc. Starc won't always get wickets upfront. No other good back ups.

btw, do you support RCB? 🙂

Haha, not particularly. Support a different team each year tbh, depends on the players. Starc is my favourite player so have enjoyed watching him play for RCB. Also bet on Rajasthan @ 12/1 so have a bias towards them this year.

Yep. 12/1 is a big price and with their start they should easily make the play-offs now.

Yeah, you'd have to say Roussow didn't take his chance today, neither he nor Bisla looked confident opening. Gayle needed.

I don't really rate Wiese that much. I'd play Sammy ahead of him as well as Roussow. But Gayle should be ahead of all of those for me.

    Any ideas about captaincy tomorrow?

Looks like that's what it'll come down to in terms of rank movement.

I guess the usual suspects any of Gayle (if he plays), AB, Kohli, Stark, Watson or Faulkner

Rahane seems like a must have...Gayle does not seem worth the risk.... He always struggles when injured.... I would go with smith.... He is as they say DUE

King Mitchell Starc, winning games for his team. The absolute GOAT. Best limited overs bowler in the world and will dominate for years

Just Warner PP, Pollard & Bhajji for me. Very worried about Rohit but not worth the sub looking at the schedule.

Warner can afford to be a bit more cautious than usual with MI posting a below par score. Hoping he doesn't go at it from ball 1.

Still 33 games left. I can keep conserving my rank with the odd extra player each game compare to most. All makes a difference.

Thinking of going Raina personally, or maybe even Dr Smith over BMac.
