The Wear-Tyne takes pride of place in Sunday’s pair of league fixtures, with Newcastle and Sunderland scrapping for points in the bottom half of the table. A win for the Toon would arrest a run of three successive defeats, while the Black Cats have a solitary victory to their name since these fierce rivals last met in Gameweek 17.

Before that, the early kick off sees Burnley’s obliging defence attempt to stifle a red-hot Harry Kane as they entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.

Fresh off a hat trick against Leicester City last Gameweek, Kane will be under strict surveillance from the hosts’ rearguard in what could be a game of goals. Considering that the Lilywhites haven’t earned a single clean sheet in their previous seven matches – and Hugo Lloris is sidelined with a leg injury – out-of-form Burnley marksman Danny Ings will fancy his chances of putting a five-match goal drought to bed.

The tea-time derby clash – hosted at the Stadium of Light – takes on an altogether different complexion from the reverse fixture at St James’ Park in December, with two new managers at the helm. Newcastle are down to the bare bones in defence as a result of long-term injuries and suspensions, meaning there’s only one fit centre-back (Michael Williamson) at the disposal of Magpies boss John Carver. Meanwhile, Sunderland boast a relatively clean bill of health – aside from Wes Brown’s absence with a knee injury – as Jermain Defoe seeks a goal for the first time in seven Gameweeks.

Completely off topic ... Who do you want to see promoted to the bpl next season, and who do you want to be relegated?

    For me:
    QPR, Burnley and Sunderland down

    Middleborough, Bournemouth and Brentford up

Only thing I don't like about Watford is that, for example last season, most of their team was made up of seria loanees. Don't think they'd do well in the bpl.

Can never tell who will do well or not, I personally think our players would suit it.

It was like that at the start of the pozzo era but our team now isn't like that, two of our main signings have been H Gomes and Ben Watson. Other clubs take advantage of the rules for loans as well, for example Bournemouth signing Kenwyn Jones on 'emergency loan' is ridiculous, they have scored the most goals in the league, not really an emergency...

Never seen a season like this one, normally one has pulled away by now. If we beat Boro tomorrow I fancy us.

Norwich are playing some great stuff at the moment.

Steve McDutch accent is being found out at Derby. Can't believe he's a contender for the Newcastle job. So many better options.

I would have Michael Laudrup, Neil Lennon and Alex Neil all ahead of McLaren.

The problem you have is Mike Ashley. I would rather take the QPR job knowing that I would get far more support from Tony Fernandes.

Like a lot of people on here, I'm looking for a replacement for Costa. I thought I'd get someone who can fill in for the next 2 gameweeks and get Costa back in for hie double gameweek.

With that in mind, looking at the fixtures ticker, I'm tempter to draft Berahino in (LEI, cpl).
