Myself, Granville and Jonty welcomed Fantasy Premier League royalty for this week’s episode, as reigning champion, Tom Fenley, made his belated ScoutCast debut.

Tom joined us to talk us through his difficult post-championship season, whilst lending his informed view the situation facing the current Fantasy Football Scout league leader, and FPL number one, Simon March, aka “Dufflinks”.

Of course, we were also glad to have Tom’s expertise on board to help us grapple with the latest round of topics fed to us by the community. Amongst the many issues tackled, we attempt to explain the withering form of Sergio Aguero, discussing the merits or otherwise of an Argentine exit strategy.

This episode was recorded on Tuesday evening with a live Hangout broadcast. If you missed that and you really want to catch up on the latest beard developments (Tom abstains from this), you can view the Hangout in full via the movie below.

If you prefer to have your ScoutCast slip down that little bit easier, you’ll be wanting the rather more slick and refined audio version via this link or the first player below.

Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel if you want to be kept informed of future live ScoutCasts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Have 2 FT, just thinking of Kun > Studge for next GW, he has better fixture next & gets him in my team for DGW....was gonna go with Eriksen > Henderson & Rose > Terry, but may hold Spurs for 1 more week, thoughts?

Im not a fan of having both Henderson and Coutinho for the double but cant see an alternative, mid (for GW34) is:

    Silva, Hazard, Henderson, Coutinho

If i take out Coutinho then i would have £9.1 to spend, and its between:

    A) Hull mid
    B) Leicester mid
    C) Keep Coutinho/get Sterling
    D) Punt on Oscar/Cuadrado/Willian
    E) Hope Fab fall in price

They have improved somewhat of late, but are still not a high scoring team. I hear you. I will still likely get both Hendo and Coutinho myself for the DGW. I am interested in Sturridge and Hendo, but Sturridge is too much money for me to figure out an efficient exist plan when I back to having FTs and no WC in gw35.

Exactly, im trying to prepare a player that i can use specifically for the double as i will be immediatly be getting rid in preperation for arsenal. I cant justify getting Sturridge unless i sell Aguero/still had a wildcard.

I wish the Chelsea mid was more reliable lol

I am thinking Hendo and Sturridge for DGW, drop Kun and buy again if he picks up points, but you are right, it is difficult, especially if you have too many DGW players to dispose of after W34...
I already have Schlupp, plus 3 Chelsea in the team, so that is enough I think!

It's not like they have a porous defense though. They tend to give up 1 or 0 goals, no? Of course, it's really a binary thing -- zero or bust.

Think I'll start him.. QPR after scoring 7 goals in their last two games and away from home.
And I have Ivan, so the likelihood is at least one of them will do well. And I want to save a transfer.

That's another issue, going to have to rely on him starting in GW33 now. Can't use a transfer on shifting Haidara for a defensive autosub as it will cost me 4 points in GW34.

FWIW I hope he does start in GW33

ML leader has a defence of Bellerin, Baird, Zouma, Clichy, O'Shea

A Kolarov start leaves him down to Zouma at best 😆

This of course begs the question, how I am losing to him?

Players I have with blanks - Pants, Bellerin, Sanchez and Austin

I have no backup for Pants and the fixtures are turning anyway so he has to go. Remy is the obvious replacement for Austin. I have subs (albeit not brilliant ones) that can cover Bellerin and Sanchez, who have a good fixture at Burnley this week. I want to use transfers to bring DGW players in but that only works for Chelsea (already have Ivan and Haz) as they play GW33, no good me doing Sanchez to Henderson when neither play.

fair enough, I guess in your postion it makes sense

I'll likely just shift Austin to Murray and downgrade Giroud so I can get any keeper for just GW33

    Liverpool fixtures - NEW,blank,(hul,wba),QPR,che,CRY,sto
Arsenal fixtures after Chelsea in gw 34 leading upto their DGW - hul,SWA,mun,SUN,WBA

*Considering Arsenal fixtures after gw 34 as most would have offloaded Arsenal cover for the blank.

Anyone thinking of double Liverpool defense+Sturridge in DGW 34 and triple Arsenal attack in DGW 37?

    Pros-
    - Arsenal score more goals than Liverpool.
    - Liverpool's attacking form has been dire
    - Not easy to predict attacking points from the Pool mids
    - Livepool's defensive form has been superb
    - Triple Arsenal attack should cover 90% of Arsenal's attacking points in the DGW.

    Cons-
    - Missing out on a haul from a Liverpool mid (Good chances of picking the wrong one).
    - Missing out on Arsenal defensive returns (which won't be explosive)

So, would you go for the conventional Def+Mid+Striker strategy for Liverpool and Arsenal DGWs or would you adopt the moderate risk high reward strategy that I posted above?

As someone who doesn't have his WC, I have to think every transfer very carefully now till the double. One wrong move and the season is over.

WCers at least have the luxury to take a couple of punts then load up with the WC and then work towards the arsenal double. The best thing is that Liverpool have some good fixtures after their double so there is no rush to get rid of their players.

For a lot of this season I've had plans but not too far in advance. For example:

This week I'll either hold my transfer or do Austin to Remy depending on news. Then I'll probably save a transfer in 33 and get Liverpool players in 34.

Haven't decided who will go and who will come in in GW34. I've liked playing like this - lots less stress over transfers.

Additionally I've been sticking to my initial captain choice for most weeks, means I'm rarely on here deliberating over transfers and can discuss other matters or give (poor 😉 ) advice.

I've never had plans for more than 2 weeks but this is the first time that I have had to draw up 3-4 drafts for transfers till the double for every sort of situation that might come up.

But I just know something new will happen and screw up all my plans.

As for the stress part, I personally play this as just a game and never take any sort of stress about transfers. But I have to accept that how my team performs does affect my mood a bit on weekends

Stress might be the wrong word but I'm not constantly looking at options which makes the game a bit more nicer to play for me.

Probably not crucial but nice when you have a WC. I'd like them just because more DGW players = better 🙂

But not taking too many hits for them either!

Before the double they weren't crucial but Benteke and Austin in particular were standout picks.

I don't see any stand out picks in Leicester and Hull. N'Doye + Vardy might be okay but I didn't want any Leicester players before the Liverpool announcement so not much hasn't changed.

I might change my mind as it gets closer.

They weren't really standout picks if you consider the fact that you had to get rid of either Aguero or Giroud for them (Kane is pretty nailed). I never thought they'd cause so much damage.

Yeah maybe. I kept Austin for the double so got lucky I suppose in that respect. Even thought about Aguero to Benteke but didn't have the ball.

The initial thought was very early on after the announcement as well, the closer it got to the double the less I thought about Benteke. Never even considered Phillips for my own team!

When the announcement was first made, my first reaction was Aguero > Benteke. But as the dust settled, I decided to save my FT.

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. That's fpl for you and that's why it's so addictive!

Yeah, I have configured about a half dozen WC teams. I am trying to resist overloading my team with DGWers though, as there is no way I would want Vardy, Ndoye, etc afterwards, and there are way too few FTs to rebuild a roster. I have 2FT & WC, so my thinking is to:

Sell my current 3 blankers (Panti, Sanchez, and Austin) this week and next
GW34 WC: Add 1 more Chelsea guy to my existing 2; add 3 Liverpool; include Schmeichel as GK
GW 35-37: Exit select Pool and Chelsea players with Sanchez, Giroud, and Ramsey/Ozil between GW35-37 in time to have 3 Arsenal for GW37.

Even though Rooney has a fairly decent record vs City from what I recall I wouldn't go for him this week - better options in the other 3 (I see you have Kane below).

I'm going Kane but 3 decent options for you to choose from there.

    Myhill. Jaku.
    Clichy. Alder. Jones. Bellerin. Bruce.
    Haz. Silva. Sanchez. Siggy. Boyd.
    Aguero. Kane. Austin.

    This week:

    Clichy >>> Bertrand.

    DWG plan later:
    Jones >>> Moreno
    Siggy >>> Hendo
    Bertrand + Austin >>> Terry + Vardy for -8

Cant do clichy to terry directly due to insufficient funds...

I have a feeling for Hazard captain before Kane. Spurs looks like starting there vacation early, now they can't get top 4. I think they aren't interested in EL anymore, cause it gave them more troubles this year than benefits

Hazard for me. QPR are very leaky, he has form and I can see QPR attacking from the start! Playing defensively against Chelsea won't work.

Villa will put up a great fight against Spurs and have more energy in the midfield which will make them harder to break down.

Yep, Spurs are exactly the kind of team to promise goals then have 0 shots on target.

Isn't Costa probably gonna take at least 1 game of the double off him?

Best mid for under £5m? Was going to get Ki but would only be playing him for GW 33 and 34 so would become bench fodder.

Maybe worth punting on Cambiaso? Elmo? for the double?
