The Fantasy Football Scout lineup was pipped at the post in last weekend’s Mondogoal contests, earning second and third placings – this despite backing the Crystal Palace points avalanche at Sunderland.

Yannick Bolasie and Glenn Murray combined to earn us almost half of our 106.90 points total but that wasn’t enough to deny Mondogoal heavyweight, “ChrisDAFC”. He earned his sixth spot in Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship via his 112.97 haul and also edged past us in the special West Ham Awards Dinner contest.

Chris now looks well set up to compete for the big final day prize but we’ll be locking horns with him again this week in our quest to earn a qualifying spot to take him on.

The £30,000 World Championship

How Does it Work?

So far, over 100 qualifiers have now gone forward to the final Gameweek contest. To qualify, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests – you can enter these for just £2.

How Do I Enter?

Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select your line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.

The more you lay down with your stake, the more chance you have of making it through, with just 22 teams competing in the £10 contest and only five competing in the £50 stake contest.

If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.

Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.

Having multiple teams will obviously increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.

Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.

FF Scout Gameweek 33 Picks

Despite their miserable form and defeat at Old Trafford, we’ve gambled on building our current selection around Man City’s Etihad encounter with West Ham.

City have a point to prove and the Hammers look to be the perfect opposition to aid their recovery. Sam Allardyce’s men are also in a malaise and have little to play for. With that in mind, we’ve backed a City clean sheet and are putting faith in David Silva and Sergio Aguero to pepper Adrian’s goal and emerge with points aplenty.

That investment in City has forced us to discount Eden Hazard for the first time in over a month. The Belgian has been a Mondogoal mainstay for us but, with the Stamford Bridge clash with United looking hard to call, we’ve chosen to look elsewhere.

Palace’s form guys – Glenn Murray and Yannick Bolasie earn predictable places in our squad. To be fair, after last weekend, we almost feel obliged to retain their services.

The selection of Everton trio Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and Aaron Lennon might surprise a few, although the Toffees clearly offer the potential of a clean sheet at home to a shot-shy Burnley. Coleman and Baines bristle with attacking threat, while Lennon is a livewire on the flank with two goals and an assist in his last four.

Free-scoring Leicester City help to complete our XI. While Jamie Vardy earned the plaudits for his at-the-death winner at the Hawthorns, we’ve gone for the cheaper option of David Nugent. He may lack Vardy’s energy and pace, but Nugent certainly has the craft to play a key role in the Foxes vital home clash with Swansea – he’s also expected to be on spot-kicks. Back in midfield, Marc Albrighton is our budget enabler: a surprise starter last time out, we’d expect him to retain his spot in the Leicester lineup and, at just 4.4 million, we have to gamble on his selection.

We’re expecting to tinker further. Crucially, with no early kick-off on Saturday, we’ll have a view on the teamsheets from a quartet of three o’clock matches before submitting our final squad. Mondogoal’s weekend contests will close at 2.55pm on Saturday.

Rodgers on Sturridge: "We will give him every possibility to be fit for the game."

I really hope he gets an appearance at least. Can't afford a transfer to get rid for the double...

By ''the game'' he means the FA Cup game, which could mean he should be ready for the DGW.

        Yeah, that's what I'm hoping.

Either way, I doubt he'll start both. But I'd take a start and sub appearance against West Brom and Hull. There's pts to be had there.

I was just managing to field 11 but logged in today to see Clichy and Blind announced injured.

I played with the idea of WCing early, but I'm not sure it's workable to sacrifice core DGWers who have a blank this week...

But if you go for silly players like the ones I mentioned above, then you should reconsider taking hits. Fielding 11 is overrated, you should just focus on picking the right captain this week.

With the way the last week went I have zero confidence in who to pick as captain, save to say I feel obliged to captain Aguero after being burned by not having him.. Cognitive dissonance, if you will.

Right now I am trying to restructure my WC to fit in potentially Jagielka and Mata and that should cover me if I play it early..

            It's just an anti climax.

No. But you don't have to play 11. I'd take a -4 and play with 2 defenders I think. Basically a defender must get a clean sheet to justify -4 and seeing you are wildcarding next week I can't see the value.

I think a wildcard this week might work actually. TV is 102.2 right? I'll have a play around with it and see what I would do.

You are right about the defender issue.. I hadn't thought of that.

This is what I've got so far on the early WC front. This is what I'd play this week.

            Schmeichel

            Morgan Alderweireld Jagielka

            Hazard Puncheon Boyd Mata

            Aguero Vardy Remy

            Ospina Skrtel Ivan Hendo

My issue is the lack of room for manouevre after.. thankfully Leicester have some decent fixtures after so my main issue would be bringing in Arsenal players. Like Remy to Giroud for GW35. Mata to Ramsey for GW36.

Of course if there were any more injuries this could all go out the window.. again! Might be my best option though. It means I don't have to take -4 hits now.. but I can take them after instead if ti becomes necessary.

OK, here's what I have come up with based on your draft:

              Schmeichel
              Trippier Ivanovic Alderweireld Schlupp
              Hazard Cambiasso Puncheon Silva
              Remy Kane

              Ospina Moreno Henderson Giroud

              Approx 3.6 in the bank.

With such a low TV I think Aguero is out, spending 12.5 on him wrecks the balance. So I have kept Kane and have put Silva in because when Aguero does well Silva often does too. You have some decent cover that way.

Moreno is instead of Skrtel because he's cheaper and has attacking prospects.

The 3.6 or so in the bank allows Puncheon to become Sterling in GW34 so you have 9 DGW players. Remy could then become Benteke in GW35 and Silva could become Ozil or Ramsey in GW37 to complete your 3 Arsenal.

Alternatively you could switch Remy to Defoe in GW35 ready for DGW and Silva could then become Sanchez if you wanted, you'd have enough cash. Either way you have a spare FT in case you get an unforeseen injury. If you don't need that, Cambiasso could become a Sunderland mid for DGW37 as well, giving you potentially 5 DGW players for that week.

I think considering you can only put 9 out without a hit this week otherwise I'd probably do something like that. I hope I did the sums right. 😉

Quite different from what I had! Who would you captain this GW? Silva?

I was surprised by the Trippier inclusion, hadn't though of that but Burnley will probably try to slow play to the end.. and they have some great fixtures with potential for CS.

I think I prefer this team to mine for next GW although the lack of Aguero does scare me.. the guy I'm chasing has him and will most likely captain him! I'd consider throwing caution to the wind and swapping out Remy and Kane for Murray and Vardy. Still leaves me with the same about of DGW players and still open to bringing in Remy or Sterling for DGW34.. I expect Kane will score a couple more before end of season but not predictably or consistently as previously.

Too much going with the masses if I brought in Vardy and Murray? Too reckless?

                  same amount* of DGW characters.

Thank you by the way.. you have given me loads to work with!

Also the more I think about Aguero -> Silva the more I like it. I don't want to bank too much on Man City and Silva is better value of the two, potentially!

Yes I think it is a bit "mass think". Vardy wouldn't be possible in my draft anyway because it would be 4 Leicester.

You could captain Silva or Puncheon this week. I'd probably go with Silva.

I think Murray would be a mistake with a wildcard now, he has 2 good fixtures and then it's poor. And going without 3 Chelsea in DGW in order to have Murray seems plain wrong.

Trippier is there because he has attacking potential and it needed a cheaper defender, plus Burnley's fixtures are good till the end of season. If they get relegated that might even help, relegated teams often perform well after the pressure is off. He was the best rotation defender with a fixture this week I could see in the price range.

Did you try my draft on your transfer page? Did I calculate the bank right?

I have 4.9 in the bank with your draft! Not too shabby!

I guess the question would be Cambiasso versus Vardy. I guess I could hope Cambiasso would get some BAPs and create goals or get assists for Nugent/Vardy.

Murray would be a one week punt. The main advantage would be being able to go with either Fab or Remy next week using my FT.. depending on how things went this GW. I'd have enough in bank to go puncheon to fab or murray to remy. I guess if I didn't get rid of Murray GW34.. I'd still have to soonafter.

Trippier is definitely a good call though!

You are right, with 4.9 left (bigger than I thought) you could probably get to Fabregas/Vardy but it would probably mean upgrading Puncheon to Coutinho instead of Sterling next week?

Keeping Kane (who I'm guessing you bought at around 5.4) is the key to making the whole thing work really. I think that takes Murray out of the equation.

Good lucky anyway. And I really am off to the gym now!!

Coutinho might even be a better punt and less injury prone? So much food for thought!

And yeah.. I would have to play around a lot to make the vardy idea work.. but may not be necessary with cambiasso and not sure I want Willian.

I think you could be right about keeping Kane.

I'm still considering Murray for a one week punt instead of Remy.. and potentially extending it for DGW if fab becomes more attractive option. I think i'd want my crystal players being drafted out over the next 2-3 weeks anyhow.

                        Happy gymming 😀

If you really want Vardy you could replace Remy with Vardy and Cambiasso with Willian. Leaves around 3.2 in the bank which makes it tighter for future transfers if you get price changes though.

That too (he had something with Rodgers), but as one of the best CBs of a top Premier League club, you wouldn't really choose to go back where you started. Moving back to Denmark was a huge step down for him, I think he should've gone to Germany or Spain.

I look at people with Remy and I feel for them because the decision is tough. Then I look at Sturridge in my side and I think that is even worse. I think the best thing for me would be a surprise return of COsta before next weeks DGW. That at least would screw so many people it would hid my extra hit.

What's everyone current thoughts on Arsenal mid + Remy to Fab + Vardy (-4) ... Security of minutes/DGW is making me this it probably would be for the best. Then need another hit to get 2 Liverpool in for 34 ...

I'm looking at those same moves, but for free. Not sure it's worth a hit.

Just done exactly that, Sanchez and Remy to Fabregas and Vardy (-4). I'm not 100% comfortable with it, but the state of my team this week, and Remy's DGW doubts, left me little option.

    Hi all,

    Benching headache for this week:

    A) Wollscheid
    B) Toby
    C) Mane

Had Wolly on the bench all week but I think the Stoke v Soton game could be 1-0 or 0-1, and I'm hesitant on Mane's gametime.

    Wise to bench Mane?

Repost - sorry but I'd be grateful for a few thoughts on this!

Do you reckon any of these are worth a -4, 1 week punt at the expense of either Mane or Eriksen?

    a) Mata (che)
    b) Silva (WHU)
    c) Bolasie/Puncheon (WBA)
    d) Lennon (BUR)

I'd take a good hard consider on Sanchez to Silva, especially if your team value is enough that it wouldn't be a huge problem to get him back in at some point if you so desire, especially come the Arsenal DGW, which is far enough off to be able to buy you some time on that.

Waiting until the weekend is over might be the best idea with the Liverpool transfers that you have in mind. Would stink to get a guy in now, especially for a hit, and then something crops up, like a muscle strain.

if you are benching Sanchez may as well get rid as he gets you a lot of cash, be hard to get him back if you want him for 37 though

I have Remy and not sure on keeping but if I didn't have my WC I would 100% keep.

I can B or C with Hendo or Sterling

Alexis OUT - should really be a priority considering his value! Far too much to be benched... you wouldn't need/miss him too much against Chelsea in GW34 (hopefully).

This will leave you with option for any mid in the game... FPL is your oyster 🙂

Save the other transfer for the DGW (not too much point bringing in a GK imo)

Hutton/Cazorla -> Baines/Yaya worth it? I'm thinking worst case I lose 4 points, and best case EVE get a CS and Yaya scores, so could be worth it. Should I do it?
