Our hopes of besting Paddy this weekend rest in the able hands – and feet – of Liverpool’s mercurial playmaker, Leicester’s imposing centre-back and Tottenham’s talismanic marksman.

Although Philippe Coutinho hasn’t netted in his last five league ties, the Brazilian starlet (17) has attempted seven more shots than Raheem Sterling (10) in the last six Gameweeks and has scored two in three starts in all competitions. Ally this with the fact that the Reds have recorded eight shut-outs in their previous 12 fixtures and we’re willing to take up Paddy’s 15/2 offer on Coutinho to score and Liverpool to keep a clean sheet away to West Brom, parting with £4 in our favourite wager of the week.

Our second bet has us backing Robert Huth to net his second goal in three outings for Leicester City. No Premier League defender has notched as many goal attempts (nine) or penalty box touches (24) as the Stoke City loanee in the last six Gameweeks. With the Foxes facing a Clarets outfit that’s drawn blanks in six of their last seven matches, Paddy’s massive 40/1  odds on Huth to score and Leicester to keep a clean sheet against Burnley is worthy of a £3 investment.

Harry Kane is the target of our final flutter this weekend, as Tottenham Hotspur prepare to lock horns with Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium. The Spurs frontman banished a two-match dry spell last time out against Newcastle United and ranks second among all forwards in terms of goal attempts (eight) in the last two Gameweeks. Kane has tallied a brace or more on five occasions this term and we’re backing him to repeat the feat, placing the remaining £3 on Paddy’s 55/1 offer on Kane to score two or more goals and Tottenham to keep a clean sheet against Southampton.

    Anything you'd change in this WC team?

    Mign (Panti)
    Ivan Terry Schlupp (PVA Vlaar)
    Hazard Sterling Hendo Cambiasso Silva
    Kun Kane (Giroud)

    Double CHE def instead of Fab lets me keep Silva and tentative plan over next few weeks is Sterling, Hendo -> Sanchez, Ramsey funded by downgrading Ivan.

    Only 8 DGW players for this week seems a bit light around here...

    Rose--------->Skrtel

    Silva---------->Fabregas
    Bolasie------->Cambiasso
    Walters------->Sterling
    Eriksen-------->Coutinho

    -24

    Would leave me with 10DGW's this week with all having a favourable fixture the week after

    Schmeichel (Pantillimon)
    Huth, Ivanovic, Skrtel (Duff), (Koscielney)

    So I think we can all come to a conclusion that the main three captaincy targets are Hazard, Coutinho and Vardy,Correct?

    Looking at these three players some will find it difficult to select a captain. Instead of focusing on their goal attempts and shots inside the box (this is also important) I have decided to look at the opposing defence over the last four game-weeks.

    Arsenal (Eden Hazard)
    Goals Conceded: 0.67
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 12.33
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 7.33
    Big Chances Conceded: 1.33

    Leicester (Eden Hazard)
    Goals Conceded: 1.75
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 10.75
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 10.25
    Big Chances Conceded: 2.75

    West Brom (Coutinho)
    Goals Conceded: 2.50
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 21.50
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 12.75
    Big Chances Conceded: 2.75

    Hull (Coutinho)
    Goals Conceded: 2.67
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 8.67
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 6.75
    Big Chances Conceded: 2.67

    Burnley (Vardy)
    Goals Conceded: 1.00
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 17.75
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 8.25
    Big Chances Conceded: 1.50

    Chelsea (Vardy)
    Goals Conceded: 0.75
    Goal Attempts Conceded: 14.00
    Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box: 6.75
    Big Chances Conceded: 0.75

    So the conclusion I can draw from theses statistics is that Vardy is out of the equation and it's a close between Hazard and Coutinho. So now let me compare the two players over the last 4 game-weeks.

    Eden Hazard
    Minutes Played: 359
    PPG: 9.75
    Goal Attempts: 2.50
    Shots Inside The Box: 1.00
    Shots On Target: 1.50
    Key Passes: 2.25

    Philippe Coutinho
    Minutes Played: 270
    PPG: 3.33
    Goal Attempts: 3.00
    Shots Inside The Box: 1.00
    Shots On Target: 0.67
    Key Passes: 1.67

    It is quite clear that over the last 4 game-weeks the statistics clearly favours Eden Hazard. He triples Coutinho's PPG which is a massive factor for me as that is what I most look for in choosing a captain. Along with that Coutinho only beats Hazard once In these statistics, he has a much higher amount of goal attempts that is it.

    For me choosing a captain this week has never been so easy I will be sticking with Hazard. However a player I fear not owning would be Raheem Sterling, if you are chasing I would go with him as the dullards will be going with Hazard

    Good luck 🙂

    Silva has had 217397 transfers out. He's got Villa at home. Really hope he lets rip having kept!

    52 OR and taking risks in a bid for the top. On that basis, who to captain?

    A) Sterling
    B) Costa

    Currently on the latter

      B is a punt too far imo. Could easily get 30 mins for the GW.
