Eden Hazard’s holiday snaps and growing confidence in Arsenal’s attacking midfield assets conspired to set the community’s hearts racing as they considered some intriguing transfer moves with the Gunners’ double Gameweek 37  in mind. We also look ahead to the lottery that is Gameweek 38 and further ahead to next season and the key rule changes the community would like to see in the Fantasy Premier League. We also catch up on the latest tables from the statisticians in our Members area and the ups and downs in the community’s leagues.

The Community Articles

Our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of the community’s best and worst transfer decisions last Gameweek showed that West Brom’s defence is not to be underestimated and selecting the correct Arsenal attacker is getting harder each Gameweek.

Another who has found predicting player potential difficult in recent weeks is The Puntmaster. He’ll be hoping for a return to form with this trio of differentials for Gameweek 36.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Even before pictures circulated on the internet of Eden Hazard relaxing by the beach this week, SAB was among those wondering whether the Chelsea midfielder could be ditched in favour of one of Arsenal’s Gameweek 37 double Gameweek assets. With rotation looming large for the Premier League champions’ players does he have a point? Hazard was also among those mentioned in our discussion on the run in’s prime rotation candidates.

While confidence in Hazard’s points potential ebbs away, optimism that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is set to do well is growing, particularly after his brace against Hull in Gameweek 35. It was unsurprising to see him mentioned frequently in our hot topic on the best Arsenal trio to have for the Gunners’ double Gameweek.

Arsenal’s evolving midfield also came under RuthNZ’s microscope as he examined how reacting to changes in the form and tactics, such as Ramsey and Sanchez’s growing influence in the Gunners attacking play, is vital to success.

While Arsenal players are gaining plaudits, are we ignoring some of the game’s more unfashionable players who still have the potential to score well? D1sable certainly thinks so as he prepares to welcome Stoke’s barrel chested midfielder Charlie Adam into his FPL side.

Looking beyond double Gameweek 37, we asked for your tips for success in Gameweek 38, which is notoriously the toughest week for Fantasy managers, as fringe players get a chance to play and clean sheets are harder to pick.

Gameweek 38 strategy was also considered by Ruth NZ in his discussion on whether Christain Benteke is worth drafting in as the threat of rotation looms large in the final Gameweek ahead of the FA Cup final,  should Aston Villa have already secured Premier League status.

Looking further ahead, to next season, Dat Guy asked the community for their ideas on a new FPL rule that could be realistically added to the game. His idea was for managers to nominate a team before the season gets underway that they can pick four players from. Allan The Llama, meanwhile, proposed a one off ‘joker’ rule that allows double points for an entire XI.

The Members Tables

To help assess Arsenal’s options ahead of Gameweek 37 Ludo has come up with this handy table comparing the Gunners attacking options.

Goal involvement is among the key factors considered by Spatburgunder in his look at the best forwards for the run in.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Greenwindmill’s continues to top the FFScout moderators and contributors league with a 43-point lead over second-placed Mark.

In TorresMagic’s last Man Standing competition, the safety score in Gameweek 35 was 57, leaving just 11 players in with a chance of glory.

Meanwhile in Red Lightning’s FFS January Wildcard League Brian Thomson is the new leader, having scored 1003 points in the last 15 Gameweeks, including three triple digit scores. Red Lightning says: “For comparison, FPL leader Simon March (aka Dufflinks) scored 1002 in the same period with no century game-weeks.” Aaron Thorburn continues to lead the Top 10k Any Season mini-league.

Finally, The FFS UEFA Cricket World Cup competition has reached the quarter final stage. A round up of the previous round’s events, plus a look ahead to the weekend’s games can be found here.

I used to think Breaking Bad was better than the Sopranos. I'm not so sure anymore. Rewatching a lot of the Sopranos at the moment and just falling in love again!! Anyway.... just thinking out loud 🙂

Breaking Bad edges it for me. Mainly due to age. Sopranos would be better if both were released at the same time back in the day.

Sopranos is as good as it gets, the only thing that is arguably better in BB is that the story threads all tie together whereas some do dissappear in Sopranos (the Russian!!)
Also pretty much every character in Sopranos is a horrible human being. least BB has people to like

Ok bit dramatic but I meant by his criterion of not being an awful person.. Skyler was the moral compass in the show and we were supposed to hate her for ruining all the criminal fun, or something.

I didn't really like anyone in Breaking Bad though.

if you can think of all the things Walt did to endanger his children, wife, extended family.. and still feel indignant about smoking while pregnant...

i think maybe not moral compass but a like of moral litmus test. I didn't need her to be holier than thou to have valid objections or vested interests.. I hated how she was hated very fast because it showed a real double standard.

The show created an environment that was basically very hostile to its female characters, who all revealed themselves to be fairly expendable at the hands of the male "protagonists". I actually think they might have done it on purpose to manipulate strong views and debate! I think all the hate her character got was hypocritical, and really quite extreme, to the point the actress herself spoke out about it.

Ha not indignant by any means, I just mean that she isn't THAT moral, she has a number of flaws.

I definitely didn't hate her to that extent though! I disliked her because that was what I was supposed to do, that was how it was crafted as you say. And part of me believes it to be an experiment. We start off and we see how Walt is a poor, hard working chap that life seems to keep on throwing crap at. So we have an enormous sympathy for him. And we see his intentions, more than the character of Skyler sees them. But that begins to flip as Walt becomes more obsessed with the perfection of the drug craft and not really giving a damn about anyone (aside from maybe his kids in some regards). Yet our original sympathy for him forgives all of that, and we still go against Skyler. Essentially, the story is made so we root for the bad guy.

With all of that said, and my memory may be a tad fuzzy, Skyler was particularly unyielding from the very off. Not saying he should have been forgiven or anything, but she became extremely callous/cold very very quickly. I think that is what turned some against her strongly.

Yep, I agree with almost everything you say.. think we were supposed to hate her - but it was a trap because as soon as you did, you were basically drinking Walt's koolaid. And he was not a hero - he was a villain.

The shows creator even admitted that Skyler hating was basically misogyny. It created that sort of environment where it came to the fore, but people too focused on Walt's storyline to see it. Skyler had every right to be angry and bitter, but she was seen as secondary to Walt's goals and need, and it basically got in the way of Walt's fun and good television, made Walt's life more tediously difficult. It was like an inconvenient reminder, if that makes sense. She was a real party pooper, that Skyler!

Sopranos just edges it over the wire for me.. but the overall story arch in the Wire is pretty genius. Sopranos have those memorable characters though.. the ones you shouldn't love but you get all involved with..

I got really tired of McNulty.. Watching him in the affair now and it's like being slapped repeatedly with a wet fish.

Gandolfini will always be Tony Soprano to me. I can forgive all those craptastic attempts at film acting because I would only want see him as Tony Soprano anyway. He was everything in the Sopranos and the whole show hinged on him. Genius casting. Great writing. Just amazing. The whole cast were just too good at being their Soprano characters really, I think the only one who escaped it was Carmela, really.

yeah Nurse Jackie has its moments.
The best bit in the whole thing was when Tony was worried bout being indicted in the Bevalaco murder, theres a scene on in the therapy room where he loses it for a second and you just see what a psycho he is, sublime acting

I'm not an owner but he'll probably be fine by then. Just bruising after all wasn't it? I thought then main problem was just that he was unable to train.

Saying that this is Ramsey we are talking about. All of a sudden he's out for a few weeks!
