With less than four weeks left until the season gets underway, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game for 2015/16 finally opened its doors earlier today.

Whilst Fantasy managers start to build their opening squads, reigning champion Geoff Pryor will be hoping to retain his crown after earning a cool £30,000 for finishing first last season – if you missed our interview with Geoff, click here for the lowdown on his title-winning campaign.

As many of you will know, the Sky Sports game is one that we’ve covered in the past, with our Members area including the relevant bonus point recipients across the positions.

After winning the Best League for each of the last three years, we’re looking forward to defending our title once again. The winner of last season’s Scout League picked up £1,000 for their achievements and we’re hoping to offer prizes for whoever finishes at the summit once again.

We’ll be re-starting our official league soon and will be rolling out a series of articles over the next couple of weeks, looking at the Player List and analysing the best tactical approaches.

Regular contributor d1sable is on board once more to roll out his regular Friday afternoon articles – he clinched yet another top 100 spot in 2015/16 and will be looking to heap the pressure on Geoff at the summit.

We’ve set up a new community article to exclusively deal with Sky Sports Fantasy teams. Those looking to get involved with the discussion should click this link.

    A case for barry:

i've seen many options in the 4.5 mid area - mostly wanyama but some others too.
now, if you want a regular 2 points it might work, but if you want some more i would like to raise a case for barry -
1 - known commodity experienced player
    2 - nailed on
3 - does not get much injured
4 - not a card magnet - for a DM 7-8 yellows a season is fine, 3 red cards only in the last 9 seasons
5 - used to have class - knows how to score and assist - even now will likely give 2-3 goals 3-4 assists
6 - defensive workhorse - will be in bonus points contention this season with his RBI
7 - plays in a team that is capable of CS (except for last season - but no more europa league)

the above is not super exciting for a regular fantasy prospect, but for a 4.5 mid? sure!

his 3 goals from last season was the exception, usually not involved in attack at all.
also, i expect soto to be significantly less resilient this season - keeper injury and two starting defenders gone.
again, wanyama is not a bad option for this price, just think barry is a bit better.

Hmm, ok. I'm not a fan of Wanyama as the Saints spots are a bit precious. I had Anya until I found 0.5

thats another good point - beyond lukaku and maybe one defender - no way you will ever need that third everton spot.

Aw what a nice post 🙂

Didn't see Barry as at 4.5, currently have Wanyama but think the two are quite similar! Worth considering!

      Will he play regularly though?

There's Cleverley, McCarthy, Osman, Besic and Gibson in addition to Barry.

Depends as well on what formation he wants to use, Barkley might play behind Lukaku with just two mids to hold.

did not see him rotated much, and this year even no europa - he is a class player compared to others on your list and most solid i would say.

Expanded comments on Alexis Sanchez by Wenger:

"He'll be back with us on Aug. 3 and it takes about three weeks to competitive," Wenger told a news conference in Singapore, where Arsenal are competing in the Barclays Asia Trophy. "It could take him a little bit less time [to get match fit] but he'll miss our first game."

Prediction: Lovren has an ok preseason and starts ahead of Sakho. Plays crap again but still stays in the side, we concede 4/5 and Sakho comes in. We keep 6 clean sheets in a row. Sakho becomes player manager. Rodgers becomes a bin man for the youth academy. Sakho is knighted by the queen and the president of the US.

His method of passing and running makes him look clumsy. He's actually very comfortable. Shown by his passing stats, effect on Liverpool's clean sheets and so on. France first teamer ahead of Kos as well.

Weirdly I think each position except one GK looks a little light...

GK: Solid. I despise rotating GK but if it floats your boat, looks like a good mix.

Def: Matthews not nailed on, currently competing with Jones so might be worth waiting. Coates is a better shout. All but Ivan have potential to get very few points this year so may need a reshuffle.

Mid: No Hazard and no real captaincy options. Walcott not nailed, Hendo average, Ritchie unproven....

Fwd: Aguero not sure of starting, but hes in my team so guess we can wait for news. Rooney a good pick imo. Sakho.... not sure. I'd rather have Deeney and the extra 1 mil to play with.

He looks good but probably not just good enough to get a first team chance. We're loaded with attackers, I see him being sold personally

y, me too. Don't think Ings or Origi will ever be a top striker. I belive in Ibe, but is there any youngsters in your opinion who will make the squad this, or maybe next year?

I think that's a super philosophy, Spineless Weasel; that way you can go through your entire life without ever having to really know anybody...

Last year I picked a couple of defenders that didn't play. A really costly mistake. This year will be trying not to do that again.

Is Schweinsteiger likely to be on penalties ?. If so 7.0, looks good value.

Amazingly my front 8 haven't changed for 5 days now. Defenders changing on a daily basis and keepers even more often! Finally got Ivan back in though
Finally ready to put a draft out in public
Thoughts folks? (only planning for first 4-5 weeks)

Schmeichel, Vorm (if Loris is out)

Ivan, Cedric, Jenkinson (if at WHM), Francis, Targett

    Haz, Ozil, Fab, Henderson, Anya

    Rooney, Ings, JRod

    Thanks

      Ooooh - J-Rod.

If he has a good pre-season I might well go there. Love to own me some J-Rod.

Wouldn't be going anywhere near Ings to be honest.

Ings and JRod are too risky for me at the moment.
Mid is nice, not sure you need both Haz and Fab?
      Don't really like the defence

Here we go again. 0.5 ITB

    Adrian
    Morgan Ivanovic Francis
    Fabregas Mata Henderson Mahrez Ritchie
    Aguero Costa

Sub shack: Elliot Deeney Angella Micah

    Rotating: Bourne & Watford

    Panti
    Ivan-Darmian-Francis
    Fabregas-Walcott-Henderson-Ritchie
    Costa-Aguero-Deeney

    Elliot / Saylor /Jenkinson / Anya
    ITB 0.0

    My concerns
Walcott is short time option I think.
Rooney seems to be better option than Aguero GW 1-2.
