Despite guiding Tottenham to a sixth place slot in 2013/14 after replacing Andre Villas-Boas as the Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood wasn’t offered the Spurs job on a permanent basis, with chairman Daniel Levy instead opting for Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine arrived at White Hart Lane having led the Saints to an eighth place finish, and immediately went about adding to his squad, with Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier and Benjamin Stambouli all joining during the summer transfer window. There were plenty of departures too, with Michael Dawson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro among the big names to leave.

        i'm french and follow french league for years, I doubt Payet will be half good as you all think.
        He's known to have poor mental, almost half of his assits came from corners/set pieces and always took him a year to adapt to new teams. Of course i could be biased by my parisian heritage..

    Still not feeling the Rooney love - generally gash in pre season, and with the exception of 2-3 games last season, he was crap when he played up front. The only thing he offers is a good route to Aguero, something which Costa does as well who is also a better striker in a better team.

            It's not an awful argument. You are using data from 5 years ago when the most important data is that Rooney played up front last season and was pretty awful, this coming from a United fan that watches/attends all the games.

      Only that whenever Rooney has played up front in the past and I haven't owned him, he's absolutely destroyed me. I didn't really miss not owning Costa at all, last season.

      I agree re Rooney but don't think there is a better option in that price bracket. Upside is he is playing as lone striker in an improving team with good fixtures and could be a good captaincy option if he starts well, which he traditionally does.

      On the other hand Costa could be another injury nightmare waiting to happen....

      Every team I see on here has Rooney yet I have never even considered him. Maybe because Kane and Austin did better last season at half the price.

      Would much rather have Giroud, Kane, Benteke, Lukaku etc at cheaper price. I just dont see Rooney doing any better than those to be honest

          Slightly actually, maybe I'm exaggerating. I've got 6, 5.5, 4.5x2 rotation and a 4 who won't play. So yours is 1m more expensive I guess that's not much more. Would actually prefer a 4.0 and Jenks to 5.5 personally and have no 3rd sub but that's just me. Still not sure what we'll get from a new West Ham and you can go Darmian instead. Just a thought.

      I would see who is firing out of Rooney and Costa, downgrade the one in worse form.
      (If there is one). If both are, check Hazard, then wally, etc.

      Downgrade one of those and upgrade Rooney or Costa.

      Really complicated as that's the reason I'm going Aguero from the get-go.
