Gameweek 2 gets us up and running earlier than usual tonight, as Villa welcome United to the midlands.

Both sides opened their seasons with 1-0 wins and Tim Sherwood will be seeking home improvements, having managed just one home clean sheet at Villa Park since taking the helm. Captain Poll favourite Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, looks to improve upon a record that saw him score just once outside of Old Trafford in 2014/15.

United roll up to Villa Park for their first away game of the season having struck just 21 goals in their 19 road trips under Louis van Gaal last term, registering a shot on goal every 8 minutes. They’ll be up against a Villa rearguard that kept just four clean sheets in front of their own fans last term, shipping 25 goals – only Crystal Palace kept fewer shutouts than the midlanders.

Having failed to ignite against Spurs, Van Gaal will look to his attacking players to perform tonight, providing a test to Sherwood’s rearguard following their opening day success at Bournemouth.

        ^this. but can it be blamed on luck? there were warning signs there, in his stats, for those who cared to read them.

        Maybe it is the bad luck, however, that since Costa and Aguero were doubts, he seemed to be the only "premium" forward who can assure that he's fit and starting. I doubt many would have had Rooney if Aguero and Costa had been sure to feature from the beginning.

        Shooting from closer distance? Well, to be frank, he already is not Townsend: he has got BOTH shots inside the box AND headed attempts on his account. That's two things Townsend doesn't get.

    Came here to vent about Rooney but seen everyone else already is.
    Went on Sqwaka stat and looked at Rooney, last week his Total Chances Created was 2 - this week I don't think he's had a shot on goal has he? Waste of a captaincy.
