Southampton’s Jordy Clasie suffers an injury setback. Arsene Wenger welcomes back Hector Bellerin ahead of the Crystal Palace trip. Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yeung is set to return to training following injury, whilst David de Gea remains unavailable for selection for United.

Hector Bellerin is back in the Arsenal squad after missing the opening day loss to West Ham with a muscle injury. Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky remain sidelined for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is ready for the weekend, having worked hard during the week.

Newcastle will have Vurnon Anita available for the Swansea clash, with the midfielder returning to training this week after being stretchered off in the stalemate with Southampton. The weekend, however, will come too soon for Paul Dummett and Remy Cabella who remain out with hamstring and thigh injuries respectively.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that midfielder Jordy Clasie is out for two to three weeks with an ankle injury sustained whilst playing for the Under 21s in midweek. Fellow summer signing Steven Caulker is also ruled out for the weekend with a sinus infection. Koeman remains hopeful that Ryan Bertrand could return to training in two weeks.

Tim Sherwood has conceded that Jack Grealish, Carles Gil and Jores Okore remain sidelined through injury for Villa’s encounter with United tonight.

Roberto Martinez issued some encouraging news ahead of Everton’s trip to Southampton. Gerard Deulofeu, Mo Besic and Aiden McGeady are all expected to be available after missing the season opener with Watford, whilst Kevin Mirallas was due to return to train yesterday after recovering from the ankle problem that forced him off last Saturday. Leighton Baines is out for 12 to 14 weeks, however, after undergoing ankle surgery.

Watford duo Steven Berghuis and Almen Abdi have returned to training after missing last weekend’s draw with Everton through injury. The pair are expected to be available for the weekend, Quique Sanchez Flores has suggested.

Despite reports of his arrest last week, Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Diafra Sakho has trained normally during the week, and forward is available for selection against the Foxes. Elsewhere, Pedro Obiang has returned to training for the Hammers and is in contention for the weekend.

Spurs have a fully-fit squad for the visit of Stoke, according to Mauricio Pochettino. Hugo Lloris and Danny Rose are in contention for first-team returns, whilst Andros Townsend and Alex Pritchard are also available after recovering from injuries.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Peter Odemwingie is ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring injury. Fellow attacker Bojan is expected to step up his recovery with a run-out for the reserves at the weekend. Hughes is also optimistic that Marko Arnautovic and Marc Wilson will be available for the Spurs trip, after injury setbacks suffered at the start of the season.

Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-yeung is set to train after limping off with a hamstring injury against Chelsea last weekend – Garry Monk is expected to make a late decision on his fitness. Defender Jordi Amat is back and available for selection after recovering from a broken metatarsal suffered at the end of last season.

Louis van Gaal has confirmed that David De Gea remains unavailable for selection, due to ongoing transfer speculation. Marcos Rojo remains short of fitness and won’t be considered for the trip to Villa Park.

Stuck on what defenders to play this week.

Need to drop one of Prodl (WBA), Cedric (EVE), Kosc (CPA) and Ivan (mci).

    Thoughts appreciated!

I can understand that completely. But I can't see him playing that far forward, especially after last week. So, apart from set pieces, it's difficult to see where the points will come from.

I have Prodl and would like to play him at home to WBA (but am questioning myself whether it because I will enjoy the kudos if he does something!)

Aye, you make sense. As do I, it's a nice fixture, though Wba did get a few chances against City so I'm not sure whether it's a good decision or not. It mostly hinges on Cedric, very worried by his rather psychotic tendency in the last game. To be taken off at risk of a red is a big warning light.

psychotic tendency regarding Cedric, I watched that game owning Cedric and I have no idea where your getting that from?

He got an early yellow in the 1st half stopping a dangerous counter attack taking one for the team.

I thought he was very poor. Lost possession on countless occasions. Missed a sitter. Wasn't really on the same wavelength as Silva and Yaya.

He'll get his chances to score however, but I don't think he'll be 90 minute player for them.

Olivier Giroud was very wasteful at home last weekend but he did get in some good positions. Theo Walcott’s pace may not be so threatening on a smaller pitch where the home side also play three centre midfielders to prevent the through balls down the middle.

Interesting and I have to agree

Head wrecking decision if I should bring Gomis or Sakho for Wilson. They both are equally good choices with nice fixtures. Its only for 3 gws.

Sakho might be safer choice but Gomis looked really good in highlights what I have seen (was too drunk during game).

    1. Jazz!
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 6 months ago

Sakho is cheaper and has better fixtures in the next 5.
Gomis plays as a lone striker, on pens and is at home to Newcastle. However fixtures after that get slightly harder.

If I had Payet, I'd for for Gomis. If not, Sakho

I went for both Sakho and Payet. Next 2 home fixtures are delicious.
I went for Gomis and I went for Manè

          Sanchez | Manè | Payet | Chadli | Mahrez
          Aguero | Gomis | Sakho

          Still have £1.5m ITB

Not worried without Hazard? He has WBA after City and Crystal Palace, 2 nice fixtures.
You will have a benching problem I reckon.
What about your GK and defence?

            1. Jazz!
              • 11 Years
              10 years, 6 months ago

I reckon this year getting Chadli + Payet would equal to more points than Hazard and a £4.5m mid (which is more expensive). Therefore more points for cheaper price, may get Oscar or Fabregas for Chelsea later when fixtures ease up.

              Myhill | Butland
              Darmian | Jenkinson | Gomez | Richards | Muniesa

If you have WH coverage in say Payet, then Gomis is deffo a solid pick

Yes he misses quite a few but he is the main man and will always go for goal.

      Sakho could share WH points

I'm also having deciding between the two I've changed my mind 4 or 5 times this week. Heart says Payet but my head is telling me to choose Ayew as I already have Sakho. The extra 0.5 from Ayew will also help upgrade my defence.

Considering De Gea's attitude, and VG's reluctance to play him, do you think it's Romero's place to lose now?

    1. Somalion
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 6 months ago

Not quite. Latest is that DDG told the goalkeeper coach that he was under a lot of strain which is why he's not being played. If he was 100% I reckon he'd be first choice.

But if Romero puts in another strong performance things might start to change.

Cheers, just wondering whether to go Mignolet/Utd defender or Romero/Clyne. Missed the Darmian price increase so I guess that makes Shaw the next best bet.

I reckon the first one for note until the situation is resolved, wouldn't be happy to encourage Romero if DDG winds up staying!

Shame about Darmian but Shaw could be a great pick imo.

I would love to ditch Walcott after the deadline and use my 2 FTs

    But this means that:

    1) I drop Theo before watching him play Palace. If he scores, I might have decided to hold onto him.

    2) I assume the players I bring in will not get injured/ suspended, before they have played. Risky.

Conclusion: it's not very logical to ditch Walcott before he has played, unless you believe the risk of saving that 0.1 (which is effectively is 0.5 at this stage of the season) outweighs the above possibilities.

    1. Breadbin
      • 15 Years

      3) Any of your other players could also get injured, therefore making a -4 more likely.

This as well. Think I'll just ride the storm and settle for that 0.1 drop

    2. Hect.OR 98th
      • 16 Years

that's why I've just got rid of him. Too expensive for the uncertainty and tonight's drop is no more helpful than it would have been last night. You'll be making one of your FTs blind.

See the issue for me is that I would be making a double transfer, but I'm of the opposite mindset

I don't want to risk making a sub pre-match in case of injuries or suspensions, meaning a -4 at worst, or my FT next week being accounted for next week.

I don't mind the 0.1m drop, but I do understand people's reasons for getting rid of him early

I see. Yes, I agree. It's the people that held on last night and plan to transfer him tonight that I don't understand.

FT is more important, if you transfer in wrongly, the gain in TV will not benefit. You might need to suffer without an FT.

After a disasterous 1st GW (28 points) - so I've kneejerked into 3 transfers to avoid price drops, and I'm going into this gameweek as follows:-

    Ruddy
    Koscielny / Cédric / Targett
Yaya Touré / Özil / Payet / Mané
    Gomis / Sakho / Benteke

    Subs: Boruc Depay Browning Azpilicueta

Lets Hope Yaya, Payet, and Gomis - smash it!

Although villa kept a clean sheet vs Bournemouth, they also allowed Bournemouth to get in the box with ease - they just weren't clinical enough.

It is this thought that is edging me towards Rooney captain.

If I hadn't Tekkers I would defo captain him. He hasn't scored at Villa Park for 7 yrs (?) is irrelevant imo.

Agree. The only way it could have relevance is if Rooney was psychologically affected by or, but I find that unlikely

Sorry but Villa under Sherwood is a totally different prospect.

Expect more chances to come Rooney's way tonight than they did under the likes of Lambert.

That doesn't mean I'd captain him over Benteke though.
