Saturday’s events get underway with a clash between Southampton and Everton at St Mary’s this lunchtime. Both sides are looking for a first win of the new campaign after registering 2-2 draws with Newcastle and Watford last weekend.

The Saints proved a reliable source of defensive returns at home last year, chalking up 11 clean sheets in front of their own fans and conceding a mere 13 times – only Chelsea (nine) proved more miserly.

After netting twice at St James’ Park last week, they’ll be looking to take advantage of a Toffees backline devoid of the injured Leighton Baines. Certainly, given that the visitors managed just two clean sheets on their travels last season, those backing the Saints at both ends of the pitch will fancy their chances of getting amongst the points.

    Said so before. Schneiderlin is better than many here think. He has comparable stats to Matic. Anyone who invested in Cedric for CS should have a rethink.

    Not being Captain Hindsight here, but did everyone think Stekelenberg was a great replacement for Forster? Plus Bertie being out of course and Clyne having Naffed off.

    Or was it that Targett was cheap and fitted in with what we wanted?

    I am not hitting 500k this season. Jeezus. 2 captains already played, 14 players and all I can show for that apart from Mahrez's 2 goal haul is that assist from Rooney.

      I thought Everton just wanted the most awful looking thing because away kit sales are low so they may as well destroy the oppositions ability to see, should get them more points on the road as well.

      I prefer the pink from last year.

      I normally think that away kits are more stylish as the designer is freer from the rules of tradition.
