Once again, there was a minimal amount of new injuries over the weekend’s matches for Fantasy managers to fret over, with Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino playing down concerns after withdrawing Harry Kane and John Terry respectively. Steve McClaren is a manager with worries, however, with injuries in midfield, while his first choice right-back will miss their Gameweek 3 trip to Old Trafford through suspension.

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho denied John Terry picked up an injury in today’s loss at City after being subbed off at the break. Perhaps tellingly, this was the first time in Terry’s career under Mourinho that he had been replaced mid-match, with the Blues boss explaining:

“No [he was not injured], it was a decision I made. I know that Zouma is the fastest in the squad, and in that moment Manchester City were playing on the counter attack. Zouma is different than John, and my decision was proved right as Zouma was in complete control. I left him out because tactically we needed to make a change, and I was proven right as we controlled the game in the second half.”

Mourinho also stated post-match than Oscar, who missed the Etihad trip, remains a doubt for the Gameweek 3 trip to West Brom…

“Oscar’s injury isn’t a big one but it stops him from playing today and probably next week”

Leicester City
Back-up stopper Mark Schwarzer missed yesterday’s win at West Ham due to illness, the club’s official twitter feed confirmed.

Newcastle
Steve McClaren has concerns in midfield for the trip to United after Moussa Sissoko was withdrawn at the break against Swansea due to a groin problem. The Magpies boss also explained Siem de Jong’s weekend absence:

“We lost a big player in Moussa. We don’t know the seriousness of it yet…We think it (De Jong injury) is just a kick on the shin which flared up. He nearly made it (in time) but unfortunately didn’t (but) it should not be too bad.”

Sissoko has since tweeted on his injury, confirming an adductor problem.

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino played down his second-half withdrawal of Harry Kane in yesterday’s draw with Stoke. The Spurs boss confirmed Kane’s problem was no more than cramp, having started training a little late due to his Euro U21 exertions with England:

“Harry was very tired and had some cramps in his calf, so to take the risk with the score at 2-0, I didn’t think it was a problem to take him off. He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive. We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don’t take risks with his body”.

Swansea
Garry Monk remains optimistic that Ki Sung-Yeung will return to action for next week’s trip to Sunderland. The Swans boss refused to take any chances with the South Korean at home to Newcastle, after he was forced off with a hamstring injury away to Chelsea last week:

“It wasn’t really [right] to take the risk with him. Of course he’s pushing to play, but I think we’ll give him that little bit more time. He’ll be back in training next week ready for the Sunderland game.”

Suspensions

Newcastle are set to be without Daryl Janmaat for the trip to United after the right-back received his marching order for picking up two yellow cards away to Swansea. Discussing his upcoming absence, the Dutchman – who was booked on both occasions for incidents involving Jefferson Montero – owned up to his Liberty folly:

“I’m very disappointed. It was stupid of me and I have to apologise to my team-mates, the supporters and everybody, because trying to win a game with ten men is very difficult. The first yellow card was clear. The second one, I lost the ball, he (Montero) ran past me and in a split-second I touched him. I pulled him back and that was stupid.”

West Ham are set to be without Adrian for the next three league matches after the Spaniard’s weekend dismissal at home to Leicester. Dismissed for serious foul play after an incident with Jamie Vardy, the Hammers keeper will miss clashes against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle before returning to action in Gameweek 6 away to Man City. Darren Randolph (4.5) is set to deputise in his absence.

company's goal a game record is hard to ignore, I need to bank his 14 points v everton. My team has been woeful so far but their fixtures are all still so kind so Walcott rooney haz > sanchez aguero shaqiri for me.

Have Hazard, want Silva/Sanchez next week. What's my play?

    Ruddy, Rudd
    Mert, Cedric, Huth, Muniesa, Taylor
    Hazard, Depay, Mane, Chadli, Bentaleb
    Aguero, Benteke, Sakho

    2 FT, 0.5 ITB

Obviously Depay is the one to make way, but where do the additional funds come from?

Silva v Yaya - some basic stats:

    Silva - 13
    Yaya - 4

    Goal attempts:

    Silva - 4
    Yaya - 6

    Goal attempts in box:

    Silva - 3
    Yaya - 2

    Mins per chance created:

Well for all of those penalty area touches Silva isn't shooting much. Yaya not far behind on chances created and is shooting more (albeit outside the box).

For 1.5m price difference I think there's an argument to be made for Yaya.....but I'll go Silva.

I wish he'd play them all, he'd then be about as essential as you can get for a defender.

A lot seem to think he's now the main LB for City but I'm still not convinced, I think he's too much of a rotation threat and ultimately very annoying when City have a decent fixture.

I'm probably going to stump up the money for Kompany.

Surely, Pello knows from last season to keep a fixed back four this season? he shuffled about with it too much last season and that was one the reason they were leaking goals.

Right, but bear in mind that Silva didn't have a shot today, and had 3 of his 4 shots against West Brom before Kun came on.

Yaya had both his shots in the box today, and also upped his 'Chances Created', whilst Silva's dipped.

To my eye, with Aguero in the side, Silva was sitting outside the box, looking to play Aguero in. Yaya had no such reservations, and was breaking past Silva, looking for every chance to get on the scoresheet.

This was not the near essential Silva of 2014-15, but something more akin to the super-assister, Ozil-type midfielder of past seasons. Yaya, on the other hand, looks back to his imperious 2013-14 form.

It is. Of course, without penalties, Yaya won't get close to that season's numbers for goals. Far too early to draw any great conclusions, but on the evidence of the first two games, I think Yaya and Silva will probably both score very well, but there won't be much in it - I'd expect both to average somewhere around 5.5 PPG.

I don't see Silva being worth 1.5m more, especially when you'll never captain him. I might be horribly wrong though, and Silva could go on another scoring run, getting in the box more away from home.

    This game really bites sometimes.

As the United match started on Friday night, I had already hit the Wildcard button for GW3.

My transfers in included: Gomis, Silva, Aguero, Kompany, Mahrez and Darmian.

    Enough said.

One last Repost - would love some feedback guys and girls:

    1) Richards/4.5m DEF + YYT
    2) Kolarov + Mahrez + 1.9m ITB

*I also have Silva and am planning on upgrading back to Hazard in the future when form picks up, so essentially is YYT a better move for the season? ie. do we think Mahrez can continue this blistering form for the next 5-10 GWs?

    A) Haz + Mane -> Silva + Sanchez -4
    B) Haz -> Silva/Sacnhez for free.
    C) Mane -> Silva for free.
    D) Haz + Cedric -> Silva + Kolarov -4

Mane has 3 great gameweeks coming up...I can see him going strong. So feel like the better transfer is Haz out for Silva??

Haha, depends on who you ask. I'm a huge Mahrez advocate.
I don't think it's necessarily a risk, but I really do think he'll be a reliable source of points.

I'm getting slammed, so far I'm 23 points with Gomez and Wilson to play. Thank goodness I made my planned Mahrez change, he saved my gameweek from total oblivion.

At this point I'm resisting the urge of a knee-jerk WC. I really don't think my teams that bad, thoughts please?

    Butland - Ruddy
    Cedric - Kos - Huth - Gomez - Coats
    Silva - Mahrez - Mane - Hazard
    Wilson - Pelle - Aguero

I'm aware Coats and my SOU assets are letting me down, but SOU have such good fixtures, I'm sure the goals are coming.

Feck it. 43 points frm 2gw couldn't stomach looking at Kosceilny leaking goals and Rooney fluting around like a headless chicken again nxt wk so did Kosceilny, Rooney --/\-- kompany, aguero for free. And it feels damn good. Haz is nxt for sanchez if he don't cop on v westbrom.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys believe this needs teams needs a WC?

    Butland, Ruddy
    Azpi, Kosc, Williams, Huth, Targett
    Hazard, Ozil, Payet, Chadli, Fletcher
    Rooney, Pelle, Sakho

    1 FT, 1.5 ITB

I personally don't, but would like to get some thoughts.
