    I have 2 options:

    A) buy a 'decent' playable 5th MF (Redmond, Gradel, Morrison)

    B) Leave Westwood, and keep 1.5 ITB / burning a hole in my pocket.

He first option offers more depth, but not flexibility.

For me, there's too many "injuries" so you don't know who is actually out injured and who just doesn't want to play for their country (or their club doesn't want them too).

This is an interesting one though because the transfer window will have just closed. That being said, I'd like to wait a couple weeks until new players settle in before I brought them into my squad. I know Pedro and Shakira started right away but others may or may not.

I guess at the end of the day, there's too many variables that could cause a manager to bring someone in who isn't nailed on.

          What do you think?

          1. Brian (Not the Messiah)
            • 16 Years
            10 years, 5 months ago

yeah, I know what you mean about the "injuries" but don't managers normally give us an idea on the Friday pressers? Also players really can get injured during international duty!

            1. Yankee Toffee
              • 11 Years
              10 years, 5 months ago

Depends which manager really. Anyway, for me, I'd wait if I were you. As I said too many variables that could sway you in the wrong direction.

The best advice I've ever got about WCs is to wait until you absolutely need it. If that time is now, then so be it.

Good luck with whatever decision you make!

      Yes.

3 Citeh are a priority right now - Bad K, Silva and Aguero.

This might seem like a post that's 3 weeks too late, but I'm interested to know how much importance people place on squad structure. Last season (my first) I didn't think about structure, and just picked players I liked. But I ended up taking loads of hits throughout the season and looking back on it most of the hits were because I kept changing my structure.

This season I've gone for the following squad structure (B= budget; M= mid-priced; P= premium):

    B - B
    P - M - M - B - B
    P - P - M - B - B
    P - M - M

That way my transfer decisions are based on choosing the best players from each price category. I'm guessing that having the discipline to stick to your squad structure pays off in the long run? I'm interested to know from more experienced FPL players how important squad structure is and how you go about choosing which squad structure to go for? Has anyone researched which squad structures are most popular in the top 10k?

      • 12 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

looks roughly right. All depends on personal preference but I'm going to add another category "Fodder" for 2nd and 3rd bench spots that are absolute cheapest of the cheap, so 3.9m def or 4.4m mid.

      B - B
      M - M/B - B - B - F
      P - P - P - M/B - F
      P - M - M/B

        • 12 Years
        10 years, 5 months ago

Many people aren't fans of the fodder bracket as they're unlikely to bring points off the bench when needed.

      1. Dugout
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 5 months ago

Fair point - fodder is a 4th category - although in my experience it's usually possible to pick fodder who still gets reasonable game time, with the exception of a 4m GK.

I hope you get some good answers because this is a great question. My team structure is very fluid and can change week to week. The one thing that I want is the flexibility to bring in any player I want (excluding defenders) for 4 points or less regardless of what my team looks like.

      1. Dugout
        • 11 Years

Thanks MULL- GFY - when you say you keep it flexible, how do you play that in terms of hits? I guess using 2FTs every fortnight is the easiest way...

Good post. I would say not to stick to a rigid squad structure at all costs (this is what i tend to do).
      This is mine currently;

      B - B
      M - M - M - B - B

Interesting. So maybe the flexible approach is to pick a structure for blocks of 4+ games. I'm working on the assumption that it takes at least 2 transfers to change the structure, so there must surely be a compromise between flexibility and stability?

I just want to fix my team...

    Ruddy Rudd isn't doing anything
Targett Huth and Mings need to go
Fletcher meh but he's bench anyway
Sakho and mane need to go too

    I need Kolorov/YYT
    I'd like to get Wilson
Sanchez may be added to the list tomorrow!

    Shall I hit it?

Okay so this is my current team for next gameweek:

    Butland
    Kompany -- Gomez -- Richards
    Alexis -- Yaya -- Payet -- Mahrez
    Aguero -- Benteke -- Gomis

    Ruddy -- Westwood -- Williams -- Reid

    What do you think?
    Good to go?

The only potential moves I'd make are Yaya to Pedro, funded by Payet to Redmond.

    Worth a -4?

Wilson yes, Pedro price protected for the time being. But with Rooney's funds you could bring in Costa instead

I can't understand why there is so much love for Pedro. His goal is a deflection (clearly saved by the goalkeeper) and his assist is a missed shot. Moreover, Chelsea's attack is woeful.

This is the same Pedro that kept Sanchez out of the Barca team, right? I have no doubts about him ability, I just wanted to A. make sure he was starting at Chelsea and B. make sure he settled in well. He is and he has.

His talent isn't up for debate

You can say the same with di Maria last year. And the rest is the history. You got A but I doubt B because a jammy goal and assist should be taken into account somehow.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. Good luck mate.

0-0 has been the result 4 times

bit of a snoozefest so far

Soo.. I've got 2.2M burning a hole in my pocket, and I don't rightly know what to do with them before next round. I'm quite happy with my team, rotation-wise going for CP/AV + a double Norwich/Stoke. But does anyone have recommendations for what to do with this?

    Butland, Ruddy

    Pelle / Aguero / Diouf

    McCarthy - Hoolahan, Richards, Targett
