      The Chelsea bus is just starting up. They're turning it around, with results on the pitch, and underlying statistics.

          🙂
          I'm still not 100% sure on Hazard just because of his price, and a more dearly priced Silva in an already in form team. (Also the Pedro alternative, but I know you disagree )

          I think I'll jump on now though, perfect fixture to do so! Defence resolve is getting better too, not just improvements up front.

          Leicester regressing slightly? Thoughts? Maybe it's just a tough fixture.

    Lady in my work mini league had berahino as captain and Cech as vice. Got 58 points even with 3 players picking up 0 points due to having 6 non starters in her team. Think the way forward next season is to just auto generate the team, tweak slightly and then leave it!

    I know that points and value are different but is there a formula that you go by when deciding to take a hit -4 to gain TV? I recall a recent article that calculated an expected seasonal return per 0.1m?

    Here's my rough thinking.

    Target = 2000 points = 20 / 1 m = 2 per 0.1m x 35/38 GW remaining in the season.

    If you take a -4 hit this week to get a double riser, that is 0.2 (i.e. 0.1 sale value) with 35 GW left, the TV benefit is worth 1.84 points. You therefore need the replacement player to only net you more than 2.16 points.

    A hit to replace an injured player with a double riser with over 4ppg will therefore pay off in one GW. Even if he blanks for 2 points, you are still close to break even.

    This is the case early in the season. Towards the end of the season, the TV benefit gets lower and you will reach a point where the replacement player must outscore by the entire -4 in GW38.

      Doesn't really work if you're not keeping a player all season or you don't know when you'll sell etc.

          In short every 0.1 sale value saved or gained between your player and a replacement (i.e. 0.1 drop avoided or 0.2 riser) costs effectively 1.84 less than the 4 point for the hit.

      So you would recommend trading out Haz for Pedro, because Haz will drop and then I can trade back if need be.

      1. dmhomag
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 6 months ago

        Only if Haz drops and Pedro double rises, that's already 3.68 points added to your TV. Still not worth a full 4 point hit but the meagre 0.32 loss can be risked.

      Am I right in thinking that bottom teams set out to defend and will only lose by a couple of goals? High scoring games more often are between top 10 teams.

      Save 3x for DGW or towards end of season against mid table defeteams with nothing to play for.

    From the game last night, I feel Ramsey is a reasonable option of Arsenal mid. He is more likely to score than Ozil and also make some key passes for others too.

    2.5m can help upgrading Yaya -> Silva and strengthen DF.

      Not if Wenger continue to use him on the right flank.
      Should he play behind the striker, he'll end up the season with more goals than Giroud.

        I just checked his average position and see he spent time on right flank as you said.

        With Ozil and Cazorla in the team, I guess it is unlikely that he will be used behind Giroud.

      I might just get rid of Arsenal "cover" until they have really easy fixtures. They are so unpredictable so they need to be beating teams by 2 or more goals.

      Looks pretty solid to me. I think I'd be looking to get Silva in if on a WC though, probably in place of Hazard. CPL are looking decent this year and then the fixtures are tricky for CHE.

      Can you afford:

      Yaya, Haz & Gomis -> Silva, Pedro & Tekkers

    I have actually dropped from 2.3m rank to 2.5m Rank...depressing...might use WC next week after the deadline and international break!

    Mignolet (Hennessey)
    Mertesacker, Cedric, Francis (Huth, Oxford)
    Hazard, Sterling, Mahrez, Ritchie (Wanyama)
    Aguero (c), Benteke, Pelle

    A. Sterling to Silva (I have 1.2m ITB)
    B. Save
    C. Mertesacker to Kolarov/Kompany (I'm wanting to improve my defence but ideally would like to improve my attack as a priority). If I make this move, I won't be able to get Silva or Sanchez until GW6 at earliest.

      Strong team but I'd monitor Mane and Kane for form. Also I think a little too much has been spent at the back.

    Really like shaqiri- anyone advice on replacing ayew or payet for him. Is anyone feeling that deepay might come good

      Don't remove Ayew. I personally wouldn't rush with Shaqiri but if you must then sell Payet

      Depay might but I would advise to be cautious on Shaqiri. He looks good but that was a set piece assist for Diouf in the last gw. Ayew seems a better bet on getting points imd than either of Payet or Shaqiri. Let's wait and see.

    Is this transfer (with a hit) a viable option for the next gw?
    1. Sanchez->Yaya
    2. Gomis-> Costa

    I have no Chelsea cover and have Aguero+Kolarov from last gw. Arsenal midfield does look like a lottery (after last night's game) with even Ramsey now getting in the box and shooting. Also their fixture run is not very kind and I will have to leave out Sanchez at some point in the near future. Also the Chelsea might have started to move...

      Sanchez is dangerous. I'd keep and find another way for Yaya
      Chelsea I agree and I'll get them if I WC

          The bus is facing Palace at home. With both teams looking to attack I think Costa will be somewhere on the sheet. Just like that chest down to Azpilicueta.. 😉

      Assuming 2000 points target. At 11m he needs to score (220-9)/35 GW, i.e. 6.03 PPG for the rest of the season.

    Assuming Mane is declared fit for NOR this week, best move here?

    A) Ozil -> Yaya
    B) Coates -> Sagna (benching Shaw)
    C) Shaw -> Kolarov
    D) Ozil & Sakho -> Silva & Wilson (-4)
    E) Shaw & Ozil -> Kolarov & Yaya (-4)

    Ruddy
    Bellerin, Shaw, Targett
    Hazard, Ozil, Mane, Mahrez
    Kun, Benteke, Sakho

    Rudd, Huth, Coates, Sinclair
    Bank 0.7m, 1FT, 1WC

      Wow that is a tough choice. Would be tempted by all of them!

      Maybe E since City's amazing fixtures and form are likely to see the 4 points recouped over the next few weeks

        Cheers, yeah same here! I would rather Silva to Yaya so am swaying a little towards D especially given Wilson's upcoming fixtures, but I do think the safest choice is probably A or C - not sure if both (E) warrant a hit this week. B is probably too short term so that's my least favourite.
