We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.
-
Everyone happy with the cup draw?
I can't believe we've drawn a home tie against Shef Wed.
We normally get City or Chelsea away at this point.-
McClaren has a decent cup record too, perhaps this is the year some silverware appears on Tyneside...
-
Don't get my hopes up!
-
Haha, it's indicative of where the club has got to that a win against Northampton and a favourable third round league cup draw is cause for optimism 🙂
-
Our cup record has been so bad that most newcastle fans just want to see a run in the cup. The semis would be nice.
-
It's the recent capitulations in the FA Cup that really hurt, we haven't embarrassed ourselves in the League Cup for a while.
-
-
-
-
Nice to see us actually trying in the cup for once though tbh
-
Still 9 changes from the Man Utd game - not sure of the policy just yet (although I'll be bloody furious if we do go out without trying again)
-
Yeah but the strength of the team is so much better, De Jong, Perez, Aarons, Tiote. It's our year!
-
Deluded 😉
-
-
-
-
I'd love it if Newcastle could win this. Stronger squad now too so the 2nd string is also decent
-
Well the 2nd string still involves Williamson so that could do with sorting out but definitely stronger than last season!
-
Indeed, the fact the fringe players now include Tiote, De Jong, Perez... is reason to be cheerful.
-
-
-
Any players to watch for FPL? Mitro worth a punt against Gabriel and Chambers?
-
He's definitely a handful haven't really seen enough of him but he's a big lad. Promising once he's settled down a bit but he could surprise a few over the next few weeks.
-
He's definitely got something about him - hard to say whether he'll finish the season with more yellow cards or goals though!
-
And Thauvin was impressive, although it's hard to read too much into a game against Northampton.
-
Rivière scored 3 goals in the league cup last season didn't he?
Thauvin was impressive though.
-
-
Hit the crossbar V United, looked lively one to monitor.
-
-
We were a bit gutted that it was at home to Wednesday and not away. My fiancé is a Magpie and we live within walking distance of Hillsborough. Not even the hope of a replay like there would be for the FA Cup. 🙁 Still, a good draw. I'm happy with MK Dons for Saints.
-
Enjoy the first game of the season Lucy? Probably kept you both reasonably happy 🙂
-
We were at a wedding so were restricted to glances at phones under the table. But yes, definitely the best result for household happiness 😉
-
Ah, thought you were attending the game since it got moved to the Sunday, must have got it the wrong way round and the rearrangement made you miss it. Next season eh?
-
-
-
A Magpie and a Saint living in Sheffield?! Get yourself up the SJP it's not that far of a drive! Saints could do well in the cup this year as well although Europa could take it's toll.
-
Haha but he has to find a better fixture than Wednesday to tempt me up there! 😉
-
-
-
-
My team atm
Hart
Kompany. Azpilicueta. Darmian. Gomez
Ayew. Payet. Cabaye. Coutinho
Gomis. Kane.
Subs: Adrian , cresswell. Kone. Mane
Any suggestions ? I've got 1 FT and 2.9 ITB-
If many is fit play Mane and Bench Darmian
Kun is a must on the team. Take a hit and Bring in Aguero, if Mane isn't fit you can do Mane > Mahrez/other and Kane > Aguero -
Get Aguero asap
-
Mahrez and Silva or Aguero. Defense very expensive but they are doing well
-
What about Wilson?
-
-
-
Is Jaffas Champs league back on this week?
-
Yep, you're up against Dynamic: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/08/24/ffs-uefa-champions-league-qualifying-round-2/
-
Cheers Gwm-bring it on!
-
Good luck 🙂
-
Et you V VKD,
Some real heavyweight ties in there!-
Didn't even realise I was still in it until the article came out - I've been having a mare so far this season!
-
As my mum used to say :
"There's always someone worse off than you"
😉
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Pelle ➡ Benteke (-4) probably ain't worth it, is it?
-
Nay
isn't worth a hit -
Nope. I'd use another week at least to scout better options
-
-
Pick 3 to Play:
A- Mert
B- Cedric
C- Azpi
D- Huth-
Abc
-
-
Based on price, sanchez has to score more than 30% more points than Ramsey, Santi and Ozil. When you take into account how that money will be spent elsewhere (i.e. Sanchez and Montero vs Ramsey and Depay/Coutinho) he likely has to score 50% more than those players to prove value.
Does anybody really think he's going to do that playing on the left of a formation as openly attacking as this? Only one of his big hauls last season came when arsenal were playing this (roughly) eleven.
You could argue captain I suppose. But kun is clearly a better option for now and arguably so is Costa, who you can easily afford if you don't have Sanchez.
So, there's my hot potato for the day. Catch.-
Haz v Pedro
Silva v Yaya
Sanchez v Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla
Real tough ones. At least one of the cheaper options need to be taken for a balanced team, question is which one? (Currently Yaya for me)-
Exactamundo
-
-
I think 2 premium players then whoever looks best value
-
No. Ozil is a 4-5 ppg player. Sanchez will need well over 6 ppg...
-
-
Noob question - how do you see the posts you have permalinked?
-
Permalink doesn't store posts.
Permalink changes the URL so it links directly to a comment. You can then bookmark it yourself, or copy and paste it on a post.-
Ahh got it - thanks!

Anyone else concerned about middle of the road 2-0 City win at the weekend? Two CD in two for Wat, so no mugs at the back.
-
Can see City never getting out of first gear but getting there with a comfortable 1-0 win
-
Not at home, no
-
Think so too but both those clean sheets have been home to 2 sides that are struggling with their attack. Don't expect a hammering, but 2-0 could be enough to warrant an attack double up considering City's fixtures thereafter.
-
-
WC time or save for later in season?
McCarthy, Hennessey
Bellerin, Targett, Naughton, Oxford, Browning
Mane, Hazard, Chadli, Lens, Mutch
Rooney, Aguero, Benteke
1 FT £0.00 in bank-
Would lose Mane and Rooney to start with
-
-
Anyone contemplating an OOP Fellani @6.5?
-
Could easily start this week too, United look out of ideas and he may just be a good plan B.
-
not yet, if they start firing maybe
-
If he can secure his spot he's a potential wonderful option. Too soon though.
-
Very much so. But no rush.
-
-
Score prediction for : ManCity vs Watford ?
-
3-1 city, Aguero hatrick
-
3-0
-
4-0
-
5-0
-
2-0
-
2-0

-
1-0 or 0-0 written in the stars.
-
Remember City at home to Stoke around this time last year ? Like that
-
3-0
-
2-0
-
-
How am I looking, good looking people?
Stekelenburg
Kolorov Williams Gomez
Sanchez Silva Mahrez Westwood
Aguero(C) Benteke(VC) Wilson
McCarthy Payet Darmian Huth
0.5itb-
I'd play Darmian and Payet. Rest looks good.
-
Thanks
-
-
-
Best 5.0m Defender?
-
Naughton
-
I think this too
-
-
Sagna for now. (not sure if he's gone up to 5.1)
-
-
What a roller coaster ride as always,
Transferred out Wilson last week 🙁
Bought Kolarov for the first time in my life on the other hand 🙂
Break even?-
Much better off to have your team graced by such royalty.
-
Aguero (c)
Kolarov (vc)
Gtg?-
I never do (c) and (vc) from same game, in case something happens and game gets canceled you are screwd.
-

WedoDodoo, BebéZaza

Pedro or Coutinho?
-
Fixtures dictate coutinho for me. Do you have Benteke also though? Coutinho is rapidly becoming my favorite player. He could become what Hazard is for Chelsea.
-
Watched him on MOTD and he was incredible. No other player in the Prem has that kind of ball control (not even Haz). I just hope he can add more goals and assists.
-
-
I'd say Cout, but I think Ped is probably likely to pick up more assists.
-
-
Who have you got for Arsenal cover?
-
No one and quite content.
-
True dat (*hides behind sofa whilst Sanchez is playing*)
-
-
Sanchez. The only cover you need.
-
Ozil now, but probably none by this weekend. Might sell for Silva.
-
Just sanchez
-
No-one. And that's just the way I want it. 🙂
-
Dirty
-
Bellerin + Ozil
-
-
The perfect midfield at present? Sanchez, Pedro, Silva, coutinho + 4.5 sub?
-
Maharez????
-
Mahrez!?
-
He can't carry on like this.
-
No, but he can certainly continue to make a mockery of his price. His stats are excellent, what makes you think Coutinho or Pedro will significantly outscore him? The rest of your team would be poor with that midfield.
-
-
-
Mahrez not coutinho, too expensive
-
Sánchez, Hazard, Yaya Touré, Mahrez, Shelvey
-
Shelvey will be benched too often to justify having him?
-
-
That's pretty tasty. Mahrez has to be there on form though
-
Don't worry about the 4.5 sub. Mahrez and 352
-
Costa, Aguero and 4.5m striker then?
-
Don't like that defence tho.
-
Lol how much money do you have?
-
I have 3 Burnley defenders.
-
-
-
-
Considering the fixtures:
Silva, Yaya, Coutinho, Stoke, Mahrez
-
-
Morning, morning! On FPL, how do you view the codes for the leagues you're currently participating in?
-
Need some advice here
a)Keep FT
b)Transfer out one of Kane or Giroud but for who
c)Transfer both out for -4. -
WC Active -
Cech - McCarthy
Kolarov - Darmian - Gomez - Elphick - Cameron
Silva - Pedro - Ozil - Mahrez - Anya
Aguero - Gomis - Diouf -
I already took -8 hit, and now this 🙁
http://www.espnfcasia.com/arsenal/story/2582242/laurent-koscielny-injury-doubt-for-arsenal-at-newcastle
Would you WC this lot?
Ruddy Rudd
Kos Kolarov Jenk Huth Gomez
Haz Silva Payet Mahrez Westwood
Kun Pelle Sakho-
Sorry, Sakho is now Wilson
-
No
-
no, start Kola, Gomez, Huth
-
No,
-8 tho?
What were moves?-
Mane Sinclair Sakho -> Silva Westwood Wilson.
Just had enough $ itb-
Good moves,
No more hits tho!
-
-
-
Nah, Huth can come in for Kosc,
-
no. Kos injury has probably done you a favour in terms of picking 3 defenders to start this gw
-
Cheers all. The replies are consistent and I love 'em
-
-
I would. You'll immediately be 8 points better off and I'd say Jenkinson, Koscielny, Hazard, Pelle and Sakho could all stand replacing. Maybe Rudd to McCarthy too.
6 transfers that will improve your squad quite a bit plus maybe an 0.5 improvement in TV plus 8 points saved = good use of a wildcard I think.-
Sakho is Wilson.
Yeah the idea about cancelling the 8 point hit is tempting and actually bothering me.
However Haz is already dropped and I can see him score good points against CPL. Yu don;t think WCing in GW 8/9 or 11/12 is a better idea?-
I think wildcarding pre GW13 is the ideal, there's a big fixture shift then.
However -8 is a lot of certain points to put into the equation - they are not maybes.
There are enough other improvements that I think would be solid with that squad to make the wildcard worthwhile in this case in my view. 80% of the time I suggest save FT or save wildcard when I reply to people but each case on its own merits.-
Cheers for your input.
Yeah -8 is a lot of points - but when I do 'em I look long term (at least 3 GWs) and I think the potential points return and price rises justify 'em.-
No argument there.
But a wildcard with a guaranteed +8 is always going to be tempting.

McCarthy, Hennessey
Bellerin, Targett, Naughton, Oxford, Browning
Mane, Hazard, Chadli, Lens, Mutch
Rooney, Aguero, Benteke
1 FT £0.00 in bank
1. Lens to Mahrez
2. Rooney to Wilson
3. Bellerin to Kolorov
4. Play Wildcard
4. Save FT-
depends if Mane is declared fit for the weekend.
I'd want a City defender and midfielder & Mahrez. I'd also want rid of Rooney asap -
Rooney to Wilson or Diouf.
-
-
Sorry 5. Save FT
-
Interesting that Surman is dropping...
Anyone considered going with Albrighton AND Mahrez?-
Flirted around with the idea! Team looks very good with them as 3rd and 4th mid. Bit risky though but it does give you alot of wiggle room for strong attackers and 2 premium mids.
-
mmm off for a tinker...
-
-
-
Morning all some advice appreciated if you could be so kind 🙂
My Front 7 is currently
Mahrez - Ozil - Silva - Depay - Cabaye
Aguero - Rooney
a) Rooney + Cabaye > Pedro + Wilson? (-4)
b) Rooney + Cabaye > Pedro + Gomis? (-4)
c) stick?-
Tough one. I'd probably just do Rooney to Gomis and keep Cabaye to avoid the hit.
-
-
Wildcard
Kolarov Shaw Gomez
Sanchez Pedro Silva (V) Mahrez
Aguero (C) Diouf Wilson
McCarthy Richards Westwood Francis
0.5 m itb. Where would you upgrade?
A) McCarthy ->> certain starter like Schmeichel
B) Shaw ->> Azpi (Chelsea better long run defense than ManU)
C) Keep the cash for later -
Highly likely that Silva can outscore Ozil by 4 points over the next 4 GWs?
ARS: new STO che lei
MCI: WAT, cpl, WHU, tot-
I concur

Yes
-
-
WC decisions, decisions. So help needed please...
A) Sanchez+Tekkers
B) Pedro+Costa. -
Morning all
I was thinking of playing westwood (SUN) over payet (liv) this week.
What with all whm's forward trouble right now and their respective fixtures I can see westwood having a better chance of scoring points.
What you think?
