It’s Jonty’s time to curry sympathy this week and he’s on the receiving end of a barrage of cyber-bullying from co-host Granville.

Determined to the belittle Jonty’s Wildcard performance following Callum Wilson’s hat-trick, Granville takes to Twitter before roasting him live on air on the ScoutCast. He seems to have totally missed the fact that I too sold on Wilson as part of my own Wildcard; I’m quite happy for Jonty to play Patsy on this one.

Jonty rolls with the virtual punches to join us as we look back on the Gameweek that saw all three of us refresh our squads. We score our Wildcards out of ten, before scanning the community for Gameweek tales in “Rough with the Smooth”.

We then take on your questions, as we assess Pedro’s pedigree, the lure of Aleks Kolarov and the merits of a well-rounded squad in the light of the FPL chips.

This ScoutCast was first broadcast live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for news of upcoming live Casts. You can view the broadcast in full via the larger player below but, if you prefer the edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Interesting, thanks. I'm currently toying with Costa or Benteke, I think this would make my mind up on the others also.

for those looking at starting Swansea defense, keep in mind that while United has looked stale, our attack looks ENTIRELY different when Herrera is playing in an advanced position and after getting a goal and assist on Wednesday (despite having a bad start when sitting deeper) he'll surely start this weekend..

Now that Southampton are knocked out of Europa League, it appears they will become a viable Fantasy team again. With their injuries, and players possibly leaving on top of Europe, they were in for a tough season. I feel now though they can begin to replicate last seasons form when players like Bertrand return and that they can focus solely on English football.

They have tough fixtures but it is no doubt that being out of Europe is going to be a god send to them. Look to what it did to Everton. It depletes teams and stretches them. Now that they are out of it I don't no how it can be assumed they will be in trouble this year. They have nearly the same squad, minus a key player in Schneir but have some new pieces in Cedric and the return of Rodriquez

Look poor over the past two games but their praises were being sung in GW1. They have a new manager and a lot of new players. The team are in flux and adjusting from playing under Sam to Belic, which asks for a completely different style of play, especially in terms of how agressive the full backs should be.

Yeah, they are showing pretty bad form though. Maybe this defeat was something that needed to happen to them, and they'll kick on from here. Or maybe we are just both owners of Southampton players and are grasping at straws? 🙂

Europa and CL are different. It is assumed if a team is in CL they have the financial backing to do so and thus have bigger squads. Teams in Europa play more games and usually have smaller squads, meaning main players play more and get more tired. Also Europa matches are played on Thursday which gives the players less rest time than those playing CL. So no, I will be most certainly stocking on those respective clubs players.

    Long time lurker...first post!

    Myhill (McCarthy)
    Bellerin Shaw Kompany (Gomez Richards)
    Sanchez Mahrez Silva Ritchie (Westwood)
    Aguero Lukaku Gomis

    1FT £0.0 ITB

    What do we think?

    a) Lukaku > Wilson. Bench Ritchie and money ITB to upgrade him to an 8.5 next GW.
    b) Keep FT

    Right subs?

Can see Gomez and Richards getting cleanies but loathed not to play 3-4-3 or best players in defence.

      First of all, welcome!

Second, the transfer is OK, but not important. If you're feeling it, do it, but otherwise stick. You have a lot of good defenders, and I think Shaw should go below Gomez and Richards on your bench. Not sure how I feel about Ritchie.

I'd personally go with Gomez Richards and Kompany, maybe even downgrade Bellerin to a 5,0 or even a 4,5 and go with Lukaku > Tekkers

Hadn't considered a hit with benching dilemmas but long term I like it. Depending on Tekkers form, I might make those moves GW6.

Never been convinced by Coutinho. People get very excited when he looks good (although he still scored no points), but when looking back at him after a run of games he often hasn't actually gathered that many points.

          100%
A great footballer but not a great FPL pick when similar priced or chePer mids will bring more points.

Too much being made of chances created. Should be set over a longer period and compared to goals scored.

Different for the likes of Depay who has shown himself well capable of getti g some goals from midfield. Not quite happenjng for him just yet but when he starts scoring he will fly.

Mahrez, Lens , Payet, Ayew, Payet are better picks than Coutinho atthe moment.

A good point. But if he was a more attacking mid he would have showed a goalscori g flair at 17 or 18 and not wait til he's 23. A lot of of his Pool goals are long distance epic screamers. Can't believe opposi g defences don't close him down quicker. Hopefully he can improve but I have less confidence in him scoring when he hets close to goal.

    1 FT and 3.2 ITB

    Kasper
    Shaw Azpi Cedric
    Yaya Ozil Depay Milner
    Rooney Tekkers Sakho

    (Schwarzer Richards King Wisdom)

All set to to Rooney -> Aguero

    Should I also do...

    A) Sahko -> Wilson for a hit
    B) Save
    C) Just WC already!

Will you avoid price drops by doing the WC? If not, I would take the -4 and just do Agüero and A. The rest of your team is good.

    Thoughts on this WC squad?

    Butland - Mccarthy
    Kolarov - Lovren - Dawson - Francis - Prodl
    Sanchez - Pedro - Yaya - Ritchie - Westwood
    Aguero - Benteke - Deeney

Obviously everyone on here will be telling me to go Mahrez and Wilson over Ritchie and Deeney, but I have a strong feeling about these two outscoring the current flavour of the month pair over the next few weeks.

Prodl is not the best Watford defender to have imo.

Whats your plan to get Hazard back when required?

Also, Speroni back in training mean McCarthy's time in the team is about to end (maybe GW4 or 5)

Who is your preferred Watford defender? No plan for Hazard, I guess Sanchez could be transferred out for him if necessary. I have a feeling Mccarthy may keep his spot. If not, at least I have Butland starting.

When people say a player is due, what does that exactly mean?

If I'm flipping a coin heads or tails and I land heads four times in a row, doesn't mean that tails is ''due''

It's nonsense. The only sense one can make of it is like Tadic last year-he was on a tear statistically, and it looked like he must surely, eventually, get some returns (and he did in week 8). But generally being "due" just means the player has not performed and some people think he will soon.

They are implying that the players is more likely to produce results that will bring him back inline with his historical norm, rather than continue to erode their %s.

silva is a typical "due" player
he always scores well over the season but goes in fits and starts.
if hes been quiet for a few weeks maybe hes "due" but then maybe he's not
its not something you can rely on or use in FPL
