Our midweek regular is rolled out again this evening, as we take an early look at those players currently under consideration for our squads across weekly and daily Fantasy Football games.

We’ve divided this early scouting into two sections. The “Better Buys†will look at the key players for the week ahead, generally assessing those in-form assets who are braced for a promising fixture. The “Poundstretchersâ€, on the other hand, are the Gameweek prospects that should offer excellent value – often one-week punts, whose lower price tags enable funds to be spent on the big-hitters elsewhere in our lineups.

In this week’s article, we take a look at what’s on offer in this week’s two featured games Fantasy Bet and PlayON…

Better Buys

Despite facing injury issues in central defence, Arsenal have managed back-to-back clean sheets in the last two Gameweeks. With that in mind, we turn to Petr Cech (FantasyBet 5.5m, PlayON 7.6m) as our pick from the Gunners backline ahead of Saturday’s home encounter with Stoke. After the early defeat to West Ham, the summer signing has more than atoned with eight saves in a stand-out performance against Liverpool and, after also keeping Newcastle at bay, he could be in for another quiet afternoon against a Potters side that have only produced 13 shots on target so far this term.

West Ham’s unusual start to the season continued with a resilient win at Anfield. The Hammers have kept clean sheets away to Liverpool and Arsenal and will be hoping for a first home shut-out against Newcastle, after conceding six times against Leicester and Bournemouth at Upton Park. Aaron Cresswell (FantasyBet 5.5m, PlayON 7.3m) has produced assists in the last two, which serves a reminder of the full-back’s attacking potential. Over the first four matches Newcastle have averaged a dismal five attempts per outing and, with only five shots on target so far, have failed to score in each of their last three.

Although he’s failed to score so far, Alexis Sanchez will be a popular pick this week as Arsenal welcome Stoke to the Emirates. The Chilean recorded 15 shots in the box over August’s four fixtures, suggesting it’s only a matter of time before he gets amongst the goals. Unlike last season, Sanchez is classed as a midfielder, rather than a forward, in PlayON and is available for 14.2m (and 11m in FantasyBet). With Ryan Shawcross still absent, the visitors will surely struggle to pick up their first clean sheet of the campaign.

Tottenham fans will be hopeful of a first win of the season as they visit a Sunderland side that have conceded an abject 48 attempts inside the box, resulting in ten goals against over the opening weeks. Harry Kane (FantasyBet 9.5m, PlayON 11.1m) was in my thinking for the upcoming Gameweek prior to his well-taken goals against San Marino and Switzerland over the international break. The Spurs striker is yet to score from 13 top-flight attempts but those England strikes suggest a returning sharpness ahead of a promising fixture against the porous Black Cats defence.

Poundstretchers

After shipping five goals in the first two Gameweeks, Southampton have rediscovered their resilience. The Saints have picked up successive clean sheets against newcomers Norwich and Watford and although the upcoming away trip to West Brom will be a tougher test for Maarten Stekelenburg (FantasyBet 5m, PlayON 6.5m), the Dutchman’s price-tags could make him a canny pick between the sticks against a Baggies side that’s yet to score at the Hawthorns this season.

After Darren Randolph’s nightmare debut for West Ham, conceding four goals to Bournemouth at the Boleyn Ground, a shut-out at Anfield will have boosted his confidence. As mentioned above, opponents Newcastle are unlikely to repeat the Cherries’ attacking performance and, at only 4.5m in FantasyBet and 5.5m in PlayON, the Hammers keeper is an ideal budget enabler.

Norwich will be targeting a crucial three points as they welcome fellow newcomers Bournemouth to Carrow Road. Nathan Redmond (FantasyBet 5.5m, PlayON 8.1m) has two goals and an assist so far this season and looks to be the Canaries main threat with striker Cameron Jerome (FantasyBet 5m, PlayON 8m) yet to get off the mark.

Diafra Sakho (FantasyBet 6.5m, PlayON 9.2m) followed up an assist against Bournemouth with his first goal of the campaign at Anfield. The Hammers frontman should be able to profit against a Magpies defence that’s conceded an average of ten shots per game inside their own penalty box so far.

Finally, while Riyad Mahrez has been stealing the headlines, Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy (FantasyBet 6m, PlayON 8m) has quietly been building up form and could be set to outshine his team-mate at home to Aston Villa. The newly-capped England international has two goals and as assist already and looks set to add to those as Tim Sherwood’s side travel to the King Power Stadium.

These are the players on my radar ahead of this weekend’s weekly contests. On Friday, I’ll be back with a further look at both this week’s partner games – Fantasy Bet and PlayON – as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

        depends on the DGW

chances are triple (c) will be used for a small DGW and if a bigger one then Bench Boost will probably be better

Trouble is all the chips including the 2nd wc are better use on a dgw. Difficult to time them all well without screwing up your team for the non chip weeks

3rd defender could score more without a chip used.

This. And for players such as myself whose 5th mid is worth 4.5, sticking with 3-4-3 and making a DGW defender punt also avoids screwing with the balance of your team.

Theres No guarantee that 5th mid gonna score more than 3rd def - look at hull double cleanie DGW last year.

This. I think the best time to use AOA will either be 1) when your defense just doesn't line up well that week, 2) when you have multiple defenders hurt or not playing and you don't want to take hits, or 3) if your 8th attacker (5th mid or 3rd forward) happens to have a double game week and you can't use your other chips.

It was me. I left a response to your final comment mate...

The advantage of a dgw for the other two chips is that you double the advantage of the chip.

With AOA there is an argument that it has no advantage under normal circumstances. IMO the only benefit is that it can get you out of a hole. For instance if you can't field 3 decent defenders that week and have a relatively strong 5th midfielder.

Using a dgw for the chip that carries almost no advantage is actually a waste of a dgw. You would be better using the few dgw opportunities for the triple captain and whole squad chips.

Tbh even if Diouf is injured for 1gw, I'd just keep and play your bench player. It's not like anyone bought him for this fixture anyway - its the 4 after where the real points are gonna flow.

Just noticed that there is no option to loan in UFPL this week - this is surely a bit of a mistake on the games part?

Given that we have to use all our transfers before this gameweek is over and go into Gameweek 5 with our final squad surely we should be able to loan to get players for Match Day 2/3?

I'm particularly interested as I haven't got Kane, Mahrez or Payet who look best picks for Sunday/Monday captaincy picks.

The deadline for transfers is Saturday at 12:30 when GW5 officially starts. If you've already used them you can't complain about not being able to make a loan as well.

Yeah but if I don't want Kane in my squad until Christmas I can't have him at all this weekend?

Whereas you can have any player you want and tranfer him out Gameweek 1-4 and then can loan any player in from gameweek 6 onwards?

Are you seriously saying that with a squad of 25 players you don't think you have anyone playing on Saturday who will make that a moot point?

Well I have plenty of good players on Saturday but I'm sure you have noticed big hitting captains haven't been exactly delivering this year - the whole point of UFPL is that you can be a bit more strategic over 2/3 match days.

    Mane / Silva / Depay / Ozil / Chadli
    Aguero / Gomis / Wilson

Bench: Butland / Richards / Muniesa / Ward

I would also have 1.4m in the bank with the transfers.

    Is it a good shout?

Mainly a reference to Depay who you don't have now.
Would want most of those in the Scout Picks or whatever to want to play the chip.

    Captain Mahrez or Aguero?

Only 1 good captaincy decision in the last 4 and that was Gomis. With Mahrez at the moment but considering Aguero now... Away to Palace? Palace are better on the road and they certainly do not have a great defence but Villa also do not. Question is do Villa have a better defence on the road than Palace at home?
Leicester on great goal scoring form and its nice having a Sunday 4pm captain.

Kun has been getting plenty chances for City, so that's not a problem. And his recent international performances suggest he's no longer rusty and he's sticking the chances away. Wouldn't say he's in bad form - and CPL defence concedes plenty chances and gas not kept a cleanies this season. Kun's the man!!!!

A key element of the Aguero v Sanchez decision which isn't being mentioned is ownership.

    Sanchez has 700,000 less owners.

Aguero is also currently only on 33% overall ownership.

For me this is the early doors opportunity to take a chance.

Sanchez scoring one goal could well take an Aguero brace to beat him for returns also.

yes but surely you gotta go with the form team, Arsenal have been so bad going forward this season and have been struggling to score were as City are on a huge high and scoring freely.

All this form team...Aguero has scored once. That's what's relevant.

        Is he a form player?

and Sanchez has score zero..what's your point?

Aguero is more in form than Sanchez and just scored a few for his country this week,

Exactly. And Sanchez has more FPL points. What's your point?

            Sanchez scored for Chile too.

            What's your point?

my point is you are talking about form player, and my point is Aguero is in better form than Sanchez and also his team is in insane form were as Sanchez hasn't scored in PL yet and Arsenal have been poor going forward and poor in general, especially at home.

Aguero is in better form and scoring less FPL points than Sanchez.

                Explain that...

All this talk about Arsenal having been poor going forward and in general is absolutely laughable.

Another key is the fact Sanchez is a mid so extra points for a CS and GS

Bet odds puts Aguero slight favourite for goal but not sure about clean sheet prices

      The most important thing

Arsenal are struggling and City are flying

      But the reverse also applies

If Aguero fires and Sanchez doesn't you'll drop massively. But if Aguero blanks and Sanchez doesn't you'll still gain due to the aforementioned ownership %eges.

Personally I'd rather (c) Kun and have him blank than not (c) him and him go bat-sh!t crazy

Don't get how you'll 'drop' massively.

I think it's the best time to make the play.

Those who maybe don't think so I'd imagine play paralysed with fear.

massively, maybe, maybe not but let's say Kun gets a brace and Sanchez blanks

Kun gets 26 points for his captainers and you get 4 or 6 for Sanchez, massive swing

If Kun blanks and Sanchez gets a brace you get 4 for Kun and say 15 for Sanchez

Obviously a (c) on Sanchez in scenario 2 increases the gain but a non (c) on Kun in scenario 1 sees drastic losses at a time when most of us are already playing up.

One final note is that Kun has slightly better scope for points due to pens. But if you are set on Sanchez (c) then go for it, simple as.

            I don't think massive swing.

I'll get half the points versus the 70% who don't own him is my point.

That's the point I'm making about ownership.

The point I'm making is that the gain in scenario 2 is magnified due to Sanchez low ownership.

It's differential captain at a time before mini leagues get bogged down with boring play after play.

This is the chance to be different but in a percentage safe way.

it's high risk, high reward, simple as

If Sanchez fires you're laughing, if he doesn't....

This guys in my mini league has Aguero not Sanchez so I should captain Aguero is like a mini league blocking tactic.

                It's gw5 let's play the game.

I didn't know that the only Kun, and not Sanchez, gets his points doubled by captaincy. That settles it then.

              I think you've misunderstood

in scenario 1 Sanchez was (c) but blanked (hence 4-6)

In scenario 2 Kun was (c)

That key element "which isn't being mentioned" has been mentioned dozens of times here already.

Arsehole? Look who's talking! You haven't even been on the site and yet think you're in a position to tell that nobody's mentioned something. It didn't occur to you that you should see what people say before you make claims about what they have and have not said?
