Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

Thoughts on Gomis to Ayoze? Pelle rising last night means I'm 0.1 off him annoyingly. Concerned by Ayoze's minutes but Newcastle's fixtures are good, also need to make ground in my ML.

I'm tempted to keep Gomis as he has a home fixture next but wary of losing value on him as he's scheduled to drop tonight I think.

Who would you go for instead with 8m? Not a lot of striking options and a budget guy frees up funds for elsewhere, already have Mane for Soton too.

    Got lost in last page...

    My current team is:

    Butland, Myhill
    Gomez, bellerin, kolarov, francis, smith
    Shaqiri, sanchez, mahrez, payet, westwood
    Kun, vardy, martial

    2.8 ITB

So i'm thinking about taking - 4 and replacing gomez and shaqiri, first option to mid would be KDB, but it only gets me about 4.2 for defender...who shouod it be? Or is there better option for replacing them...? Opinions are welcome!

Irrelevant. He turned Dortmund into a power house on a limited budget in comparrison to what he'll get at Liverpool. He will be a good choice. Whether he wins anything is another question? His record isn't that bad considering Bayerns dominance over the last 10 years.

    b) Martial > Pelle
    c) both for a hit

When are those who still hold both WC planning to use the 1st?

    I've crumbled.

First hit of the season : Darmian + Gomis > Bertrand + Pelle.

Hope so mate, have the exact money for Bellerin / Monreal.

Someone mentioned last night there was a post that was stickied (i couldnt find it) that Mane wouldn't be playing over the international break vs Nigeria i think it was, can anyone shed some light? 🙂

    1. Eden Hazardous
      11 years, 18 days ago

Yeah......The Thursday match is for local players and not EPL players

      1. Your Mum's Athletic

thankyou, no reason to not get Mane in then?

        1. Eden Hazardous

More reasons to get him in than not to...

    2. Prøphet
      11 years, 18 days ago

He wont be playing, since this involves only domestic players. So Mane is not in contention. He will be playing vs Algeria. So, Mane CANT play in that game.

      1. Your Mum's Athletic
        11 years, 18 days ago

Okay I'm getting confused with myself lol Algeria is the first game or the second game?

        1. Prøphet
          11 years, 18 days ago

First game 🙂 So, Mane should be pretty safe to get when it comes to game time on the weekend bar any unwelcome injuries, which i hope he doesnt pick up.

But, as i said should be safe to get Mane. No need to get stressed over that game on Thursday since its for domestic players only.

Doosra managed a green arrow without kun so its not a disaster at all

      1. Epic Fail
        11 years, 18 days ago

Aye, Obviously Kun was the biggest scorer, but there were still plenty of big scorers out there,

        1. The Machine
          11 years, 18 days ago

True. Aguero with a fairly low ownership at the top too

          1. RustyBz
            11 years, 18 days ago

Not a disaster at all, but imagine +25/50 to your score ;).

Some wise men even got 75 for him

            1. Epic Fail
              11 years, 18 days ago

Not as simple as that. That + 25 would probably have been replaced by another big score. So it wouldn't be as much as +25/50. And the funds used for Kun would also have been spread around their team where they got their big points.

            2. The Machine
              11 years, 18 days ago

What about the points they gained in the previous weeks too?

Like EF said. Pretty much everyone who didnt captain kun got decetn scores from their captains

  22. Eze Really?

News that Sanchez pulled a groin.
Is this to keep him over the international break or for real?

Sorry to be greedy. Got a great GW but can be better with a healthy bench.
My back five line up is
    Koscielny* Williams, Alderweireld, Prodl, Targett*
also I have Butland/ Ruddy GK and Bentaleb as the 5th mid,
The transfer will be using the 2FT and 0.2m ITB
    Koscielny, Targett to
    1. Bellerin, Cook
    2. Bertrand, Souare
    3. Gabriel, Francis

Was set to switch Pedro > Mane. But just looked & Senegal play in Guinea on the thursday.

Would people expect Mane to start on the bench for the Leicster game?

    1. Beavis

Mane apparently is ineligible for that game. I swear this keeps getting hulked but there's no sticky on it.

      1. Your Mum's Athletic

May just play safe & get Payet. Can see Pedro being 9.1 by the time we get confirmation on Mane

No there is a source. Look it up - it is part of championship that only non-expats can play.

I held fire on martial to Pelle last night due to the possibility of injuries etc over the next 2 weeks. Was I right or will I regret not doing it ?

Not particularly unless you get some injuries. I'd hold out a bit longer if you can.
