With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

I have Agureo Evans and Kolarov (and have already used a transfer) so for a -4. What is best move?
    A. Agureo > Sturidge
    B. Agureo > Lukaku
    C. Kolarov > arsenal def
    D. Other

A and B would mean playing Cathcart (benching kolarov and hoping Evans plays) and C would mean playing Westwood (benching Agureo)

You could go Aguero > Pelle or Lukaku, which leaves you 5 to do Albrighton > De Bruyne (if you have 0,5 ITB). You are then left with a very good midfield of Sanchez - Hazard - KDB - Mahrez, and a potentially very good attack with Pelle (in form good fixtures) - Gomis (out of form but good fixtures) - Sakho (in form).

Your defense will cost you a few points though, but Kolarov and Evans might both be back soon - so if you can replace Mings next round it might not need hits.

Up to you really, WC might be the right thing, but the above is a suggestion on how to save it.

I'm in a dilemma guys my team is

    Butland Hennessey
    Kolarov Williams Gabriel Nyom Gamboa
    Sanchez Walcott Mata Payet Mahrez
    Sturridge Pelle Vardy

Kolarov is out so I'll have to play Nyom (Arsenal) or use my AOA Chip but if I do that then there's the risk that Sanchez or Walcott are rested and Mahrez was on the bench in the last game. Thoughts on what I should do?

Tony Barrett Published 1 minute ago Jürgen Klopp has introduced a hardline regime at Liverpool that has turned the club’s Melwood training ground into a no-go zone for players’ wives. The new manager has also cracked down on the amount of time off each player is allowed. In a passionate speech this week, Klopp informed his players that “Melwood is the headquarters of football”, the inference being that any socialising should be done elsewhere and their only focus while at the training ground should be on work. In keeping with the policy that he had in place at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp has made it clear that wives and girlfriends should not be invited to the training ground during working hours. However, the German has stopped short of implementing a blanket ban because of an understanding that there will be occasions when partners are welcome. Players have also discovered that scheduled time off has been cancelled as Klopp attempts to turn Liverpool into one of the Barclays Premier League’s fittest and hardest-working teams. Although the 48-year-old is yet to introduce double training sessions, as was the case at Dortmund, the emphasis he places on industry and maximum effort is already becoming apparent. “We need to train as often and for as long as it is possible,” Klopp said. His methods will be put to the test for the first time in this country today, when Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Regardless of the challenge confronting him, Klopp insists that taking over as manager of Liverpool does not present a risk to his reputation as one of Europe’s most revered and sought- after coaches. “I am many things but I am not a gambler,” Klopp said. “No, absolutely not. I had no contact to any other club. For me it’s very easy not to read the sport news. I have worked a whole day, so I am not interested. Sometimes I look at the other teams but not me. When I heard about the interest from Liverpool, I didn’t think, ‘OK, maybe I should wait.’ No, I never had a plan. “I heard it, I felt what I felt. And then I got some information, more and more. I am interested in English football, so I knew many things [already]. And then we decided together that we wanted to do this. We knew it was a big challenge. But life is a challenge, so it’s not the biggest problem.” Klopp’s first task will be to pick a team to face Spurs in the middle of an injury crisis that has left him without Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Christian Benteke, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino. Regardless of his lack of options, Klopp is understood to be considering naming Daniel Sturridge as substitute, as the England forward continues his quest for full fitness, and fielding Divock Origi as a lone attacker. The scale of the injury problems that Klopp has encountered has prompted him to include a quartet of young players in the squad that travelled from Liverpool to London yesterday. Connor Randall, a defender, Jerome Sinclair, a forward, and João Carlos Texeira and Pedro Chirivella, both midfielders, are under consideration for a place on the Liverpool bench.

Would you play Mahrez over - Dawson, Bellerin or Janmaat?

From a Leicester fans point of view, with Mahrez having limited training this week I don't think he will start. We looked a lot more solid defensively playing simpson and Albrighton to defend against Norwich counter attack, and I think we'll see the same vs Southampton (a better counter attack than Norwich) as Mahrez couldn't give two sh*ts about tracking back to defend leaving the right back terriblly exposed. Likewise the match is Away from home, where Raneiri likes to play more conservatively and save Mahrez for the weeks after. I do think Mahrez will get some game time and obviously poses a threat (especially penalties) late on in the game, but is this risk of a 1 pointer worth the risk at the expense of the strong defences options.

    Thoughts?

Gosling will be bench fodder for the foreseeable future as I'm not planning on playing a 5-man midfield.. idea with saving is to see how Costa, kane, sturridge look in the next week or 2 and then have the flexibility to adjust. I did consider yaya for eriksen though, just can't look past eriksens form and I feel having a tort attacker is important right now

Did Kompany play 90mins for Belgium? I want to bring him in but am worried about him starting.

Thinking of bringing him in for a hit. Would be devastated if he misses out 🙁

If he's fit he surely starts alongside Otamendi with Mangala dropping out. Can't imagine Pelle will want to go into the game without Aguero AND Kompany!

Sorry for the repost all, Lost on last post!

    Koscielny - Prodl - Dawson
    Mahrez - Payet - KdB - Sanchez
    Ighalo - Pelle - Martial

    (Redmond - Francis - Kolarov*)

Would you trade Redmond for (Mané / Cabaye / Walcott / 10.5) for a hit...
    and play AOA chip?

Or just let Francis / Redmond come off the bench?

Feel like not taking a hit this week could bump you way up the rankings if you have a starting 11

Saying that I feel like getting a Kolorov replacement would be better off being done now.. Bellerin or Janmaat?

Contradicting yourself? 😛 Bellerin out of those two imo

Indeed, just feel now is the time to do it on a defender.

Like Bertrand but it's too early for him, Azpilucueta is a bit of a risk but could pan out though...

Don't like defensive decisions, always choose the wrong one.

Hence why I'm not getting one either... Bertrand next week.

    Myhill / McCarthy
Darmian, Janmaat, Nyom / Muniesa, Kolarov
de Bruyne, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez / Westwood
    Pelle, Vardy, Ighalo

    Currently on -4 (8.0 ITB...)

    A) No further transfers
    B) Kolarov ---> Bellerin (If Darmian gets a YC I only have Janmaat and Nyom next week)

Elliot's PPG from the last three seasons are quite remarkable, make him look overpriced 😀

He's mainly there for assist potential.

Without that assist it's 24 points in 1239 minutes (or something about 1.7 PPG). I think I'll pass. Janmaat or no Newcastle at all.

I have switched from Sanchez and KDB all week. A lot like Pelle. I would do one of those three, but I am not keen on Costa.

Hello all advice here? Can I just do Kolorov to Gabriel?

    Boruc,
    Zouma, Evans, Janmaat
    Hazard, Sanchez, Mahrez, Mane
    Gomis, Ayoze

    McCarthy, Kolorov, Westwood, Morgan, Aguero

    0ft 1.3

    A) Kolorov -> Gabriel -4?
    B) Kolo and Aguero -> Gabriel and Costa/other? -8
    C) Sort out team dead weight? Many taking hits anyway?

wouldn't take a hit for Gabriel as you've got bench cover and it may only be a 1 week solution.
you need to bring in someone for Aguero now and if you want to sell Kolo do it next week for a better long term option than Gabriel - another Arsenal defender or look at maybe Everton or Saints.

"The true value of man is not determined by his possession, supposed or real, of Truth, but rather by his sincere exertion to get to the Truth. It is not possession of Truth by which he extends his powers and in which his ever-growing perfectability is to be found. Possession makes one passive, indolent and proud. If God were to hold all Truth concealed in his right hand, and in his left only the steady and diligent drive for Truth, albeit with the proviso that I would always and forever err in the process, and to offer me the choice, I would with all humility take the left hand.”
