With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Defence is a little shoddy . Would have relied on Francis coming in . Have Aguero money for next week to upgrade Drinkwater to payet or another defender upgrade as well.

1 fwd: Lukaku, Costa, Bony, Martial

All options feasible except costa? +kdb

A guy in my mini-league has made 12 transfers this week for a -44 hit. He's made 30 transfers so far this season. He finished around 4k overall last season where he did much the same thing.

I don't agree with him but I guess there's more than one way of playing the game. Thought this might be of interest to some of you anguishing about taking a -4.

The only reason I have it on Hazard is for the differential value. Even though it feels like Pelle will outscore him, there is no way to tell. So might as well go with the high risk, high reward option. I think.

A rushed, unplanned Sat morning Wildcard is just silly right? Thing is, my initial plan was to WC in GW11, but if I WC now then I would save the hits, have a better team and still have pretty much the same WC team I had planned for GW11 anyway....

    A) Kolarov -> Azpil (-4)
    B) Kolarov & Pedro -> Azpil & Haz (-8)
    C) Kolarov & Sinclair -> Janmaat & Yaya (-8)
    D) Wildcard

    Ruddy
    Kolarov, Bellerin, Huth
    Sanchez, Mane, Pedro, Mahrez
    Costa, Pelle, Vardy

    Rudd, Sinclair, Coates, Targett
    Bank 2.8m, 0FT

Cheers. If not WCing this week then I will in GW11, and I prefer the CHE fixtures over the next 2. KDB is still a great option though.

Why not a WC this week? Saves 8 points straight away and I'd have pretty much the same WC team anyway.

Since so many have taken 1 or 2 hits, the impact will be minimal if you choose to take hits.

Yeah, but the opposite can also be said right, i.e. If I WC now then I will have a 4-8 point head start before a ball is kicked, plus have a much better starting 11 (eg that doesn't start 3 LEI players away at sot).

            1. sleecc

If you can come out with a proper plan within these few hours, why not? Just don't make it worse with your WC when you are rushing.

I see you can probably transfer out Ruddy, Rudd, Kolarov, Huth, Coates, Targett, Pedro and Sinclair. Strong case for WC now. Will probably get you more points compared to hits now and WC GW11.

This is exactly my thinking. Also an argument to drop on of the LEI boys given sot, CPL, wba in the next 3. Id be looking at a switch to a power 5 - something like:

        Haz, Sanchez, Yaya, Wally, Mane
        Pelle, Vardy, Ighalo

With a plan to get Lukaku in GW11.

Midfield is solid. Can you get Lukaku over Vardy today? Agree with your LEI logic. Saves a future FT. Also I fancy Ayoze over Ighalo personally unless you got Ighalo for 5.0.

Nah, that uses up all my cash so would have to plan a mid downgrade (something like Haz -> Payet in GW11) to fund Vardy -> Lukaku. Another option is Costa/uber mid in place of Haz/Ighalo - this makes the Lukaku switch only needing 1 transfer and also generates circa 1m cash. Thoughts on that?

Ya like the latter option. Would not plan on 2 transfers in next two GWs if on WC. Priorities change/injuries happen. What's your defense like?

                Looking at something like:

                Begovic, Hennessey
                Bellerin, Coleman, Janmaat, Moreno, Simpson
                Sanchez, Yaya, Wally, Mane, Tettey
                Costa, Pelle, Vardy

                Bank 0.3m

I think I'd rather have an attacker from each side rather than 2 from 1 and 0 from the other. Penos plus a MCY without Silva/Kun swings it for me. That being said I would look at getting KDB in for GW11 (if Silva is back).

The last international break I was hit by a few injuries and did a panic late night wildcard - regret it ever since.

However, in your case, I might WC now. I can see at least 7 changes i'd make to that team (keepers, Kol, Huth, Pedro, Sinclair, Coates, Targett). There's also risk of prices getting away from you during that span as these 2 weeks everyone will be spending that Aguero cash.

WC now, save next week's FT, have 2 FTs for GW11 and you're set.

    Pelle/ Vardy/ Martial

    4.5M ITB

    A. Hold

thanks Jins. replied. that's a real predicament. but perhaps a perfect storm to WC.

I would like to add that the hits you take next week are less likely to pay off this week and next since you only have 2 weeks to earn it back so to speak.

Strategically, it makes sense to WC now.

Players wise...you can still definitely dragggg it along to GW11 with a hit or two if you want.

Think i'll be keeping the faith with Ayew - he has the fixtures to warrant some faith and his goal involvement for Swansea is undisputed.

Mahrez though...is another issue. LEI fixtures abit iffy, already have Vardy as well.
