Should I bring Wijnaldum in now? He has great fixtures ahead. Maybe for Mané?

He's a great player. He won't score like that again all season though not sure id replace Mane for him.

Yeah so many good options in that price range just frustrating when I kept him ahold of him for 7 gameweeks.

On a serious note,is Wijnaldum worth getting or will we be stubborn and not get him because we missed this haul?

Ask casuals, we are always bad in assessing bandwagons

    2. Numb
      11 years, 5 days ago

I think it depends who you have already. If you have a duff midfielder that you're looking to move on then Wij must come into consideration now (form / fixtures!) but I wouldn't rush to get him for the likes of Walcott, Mane, Payet, Mahrez, etc

      1. Jay10
        11 years, 5 days ago

        I have Surman,I can get Wijnaldum,but then I can't get any of Mane/Firmino/Payet.

The main players you want in your team is not just a player from the big teams, its the best player form any teams, the tickers I call them, the main men in any particular team,

    Cabaye
    Wijnaldum
    Payet

    These are just a few.

I'm a Newcastle supporter - Even after that game i wouldn't put Wijnaldum in.

Don't know why people rush to get players in when they have a run of goals on a team like Norwich, need at least 2 games to show at least some consistency and against the likes of a team at the level of Spurs, Southampton etc.

      1. Dynamic Duos
        11 years, 5 days ago

Yeh he already had two and scored for Holland.

        1. thedalmeny
          11 years, 5 days ago

Kane has scored for England - Doesn't exactly translate.

Newcastle need a run of a couple of games for me to invest in any of their players.

      2. Harper_
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

a goal and assist against chelsea and city kind of affirms what you're saying about consistency though.

        1. thedalmeny
          11 years, 5 days ago

Chelsea team is in absolute shambles, not just from a performance perspective but managerial one with players not responding.

      3. The Raging Bull
        11 years, 5 days ago

As a Toon fan you should know he's been in good form, was apparent when they Toon played Chelsea. He also scored in the recent Euro qualifiers for Netherlands.

        1. thedalmeny
          11 years, 5 days ago

          Newcastle haven't though.

As i said - Chelsea have more problems than just general performance currently.

          Norwich were poor..

As a Newcastle fan - i still think they're going to be relegated. Even today - they were very sloppy at times.

Monreal IMO but most will say Bellerin

Well I thought of that but couldn't think who. Aguero was definitely out and who in their right mind would captain Kompany or Depay? Unless we're saying there's a lot of dead teams or people who don't follow football in the top 10k...

Oh, granted but in the top 10k still? I know the start of the season was a bit odd but by GW9 you'd think most of them would have dropped a bit. I certainly wouldn't think 1 in 5 of the top 10k is dead, or even 1 in 6 or 7 if you discount Ayew / Gomis captainers.

Not sure what my point is now really! I'm not doubting the 19% stat, I just find it incredibly surprising!

Does Wijnaldum's haul today proves that fixture creates form ?

And that shipping in players with fixtures but not that good form can be often more successful over 5-6 GWs in comparison to shipping in players with form but not that good fixtures ?

Personally I prefer fixtures as my yardstick when doing transfers with few expections like Aguero and co.

Then again I missed the Wijnaldum haul, but not that it didn't cross my mind in the past two weeks.

Sold Martin in my wildcard, banking 0.1 profit on the Saturday morning.
Got his points for his 3 goals so far this season, so not point in waiting for his 4th.
According to Wikileaks he finishes the season on 4 goals 🙂

I got a bit of stick earlier (and i'm sure I still will) but i'm about to reply to FPL about the assists query. Is this a fair point? Or am I completly being blind when reading the rule page?

"Your assist rules don't clearly state that when a player shoots or passes and then scores themself that this cancels out a previous play. What I mean is it's ok saying that Van Dijk can't assist himself but Pelle still had the final pass/shot before Van Dijk eventually scored. Regardless of how many attempts Van Dijk had (he could of hit the post 10 times) the final pass to him came from Pelle. You need to clearly state than when a player shoots at goal but doesn't score this cancels out the pass makers assist."

It wasn't an assist and FPL are already generous with their shot assist policy

I know it wasn't, but their rules don't clearly state why. That is (and always has been) my point.

I shouldn't pick on it really but it's recently crept into my top 3 pet peeves. It's just behind people putting the lid down on public toilets; the next person never quite knows what horrors lie underneath.

    4. Hyperion
      11 years, 5 days ago

I agree with you. Given that they are already generous with shot rebound assists, it does seem overly harsh that they then add that seemingly arbitrary rule without it actually being in writing.

      1. DeadStarComing
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        11 years, 5 days ago

Cheers. It is frustrating. You would think the fairest/easiest thing would be to do how I read the rule. The final passer to an eventual goalscorer gets an assist, regardless of what happens in between. To think Butland got an "assist" the other week and Pelle doesn't this week. That's mad.

        1. Hyperion
          11 years, 5 days ago

Yeah it's a bit daft. I preferred what they had in 2011/12 where it would be the last player to touch it unless an opponent touched it outside the box. It would sometimes end up with weird or undeserved assists but at least there was no grey area.
