We roll out the final instalment of our three-part series of Big Numbers articles, focusing on players by position over the last four Gameweeks. Having assessed the Defenders and Midfielders, it’s now time to analyse the options up front, with Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool’s strikers all turning in some impressive numbers.

Got worried Bony fell by 0.1M

Then realized i bought him at 8.3M. #win

Glad i did Payet -> Deulofue yesterday. #win

Now to patiently wait for Pellegrini's presser.

Henderson or Milner as FPL options when fit? Klopp seems to like Lucas (captain in the last game) and Can in the double pivot.

Not really. There are better options in my opinion. Love them both as i'm a Liverpool fan, but wouldn't get them.

If i gamble on Kolarov starting this GW, i can field this team.

    Butland
    Rojo Bellerin Kolarov Alderwield
    KDB Sanchez Mane Deulofeu
    Vardy Lukaku

    McCarthy Bony Francis Westwood

Alternatively, i do Bony + Kolarov -> Aguero + Ward/Souare and be 2 transfers ahead.

      Hi Laterz.

That looks a good enough team to me.

I wouldn't be bringing Kun in until I've assessed him playing first. I'm in the same boat as you with Kolorov and I am going to gamble on him starting.

      Looks all good. 🙂

Will definitely sell, but have also Vardy and Ighalo, whom there is no way I'm getting rid off, and am not too convinced by Kane (was so horrible up until recently) and Lukaku (burnt the last 2 years by his inconsistency), so I'll keep him for one more week

    Team is:

    DDG, McCarthy
    Kolarov, Bellerin, Dawson, Nyom, Francis
    Sanchez, KDB, Mane, Mahrez, Surman
    Pelle, Vardy, Ighalo

    1 FT, 6.0 ITB

Already done (will do) Payet -----> Surman. Should I save my FT and bring in Aguero next week? Cheers 🙂

    3. Mr. Grv
      10 years, 11 months ago

Your Strike force looks light . Yes ighalo is scoring but he is not playable every GW like vardy .
I would say bring kun now (if you are injury free) and next week try removing mane or kdb and kolorav for ighalo to lukaku /Kane.

      1. Puyol Pants Up
        10 years, 11 months ago

But I will have 2 FT's next week if I save. Therefore I can do Pelle ---> Kun and upgrade elsewhere.

        Ighalo has great fixtures.

        1. Mr. Grv
          10 years, 11 months ago

Well I am playing martial this week . So I suppose I cannot ask you to not play ighalo 😛
Fixtures are good but IMO he's not who I would want . Your team , your choice.

          1. Puyol Pants Up
            10 years, 11 months ago

Fair enough, he does play for a bad team. I don't want him long term but I don't see why I would sell him now and waste a FT.

If I were on a WC, he wouldn't be in my team.

      2. Puyol Pants Up

Better keep some direwolves on bench because You’ll hear no lions roar…

          No stags grazing the fields…

No roses growing in the meadows…

          No snakes in the sand…

The krakens will freeze where they swim…

The flayed men will rot and wither…

No trouts swimming in the river and no falcons flying in the air…

Not even the dragon’s breath will warm you in your halls.

You shall hear only the wolves howl…

As TFMF said, he's over-performing his underlying data. He's unlikely to sustain this output for long but you might get lucky. At 5.3m it's not an expensive gamble.

Ah, it's late I'm getting him and Lanzini mixed up price wise (not stats wise). Yes, 6.2 is a more expensive gamble.

    3. Mr. Grv
      10 years, 11 months ago

I would say better options out there -
One out of these 3 will be the best payet replacement and will outscore others if you are funding kun move-
      Lingard , Deulofeu, lanzini .

I have no idea who will but all are good picks .I'll rate them
      DEu
      Man
      Ling

Though lvg's likes to bring some youth talent to the team but sooner or later lanzini is more nailed on.

Yeah, but Southampton are a different beast at home and so is Pelle.

Stoke have been riding their luck a bit imo. But since you do have a WC, saving transfers aren't much of a priority so I can see why you would want to go ahead with that move.

Innsie, Diva, i need your opinion upstairs. To set up the team for the future this week or to wait?

I could bench myself this week for the tournament and set up my team up nicely with a -8

      1. Diva
        10 years, 11 months ago

I guess it depend on your team mates. If everyone has the same idea Jamaica might not get off to the best of starts. If you're the only one, then a tactical -8 could pay dividends in the long run.

      2. President John F. Keninnsie

Used one of my free transfers already and will be selling Payet closer to the deadline. That's about it in terms of injuries (apart from the small Vardy/Sanchez doubts). New Zealand are currently looking very strong 😎

Can't wait for the tournament to start now, looking forward to playing another 'New' team first up. I've been a bit lazy during the international break and forgot to check price change sites so that Payet drop is a bit annoying. I'm still no closer to deciding who I'll replace him with though so maybe being patient will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

          1. DaveVak
            10 years, 11 months ago

Simpson is not a regular, and Leicester upcoming fixtures kinda ensures they'll have no CS. Hutton fixtures are rough at the moment, but become quite nice at GW17

  12. Valar(Keith)

Zaha has looked amazing the past 2 matches but the stats dont seem to show it.. Souare has looked like One of Palace's main attackers the last few games but again the stats dont show it.. Deulofeu has looked fantastic and looks a real threat every time i've watched him but yet again the "underlying" stats say he has been lucky. Albrighton has looked the most threatening Leicester midfielder the past few games but that does not show either.. I'm a HUGE stats guy.. but sometimes there's nothing like good old live scouting 🙂

    1. Mr. Grv
      10 years, 11 months ago

      Watching game > stats.
When you watch the game you can feel the players emotions . If he wants to score and create chances or has lost confidence cannot dribble past player is not getting in attacking positions .

      1. Valar(Keith)
        10 years, 11 months ago

it's a mix between the two tbh.. though i do try to watch as many games as i can(and i dont mean MOTD highlights) and only after that do i begin browsing through the player stats ..

I guess the risk is lower due to the price. Probably worthwhile but at the same time there are numerous players around that price range as you've pointed out who could be good. How do you chose between them when none of them dominate the stats?

    4. Murder on Zidane's Flo…

I watch pretty much every game of premier league football. There are a few exceptions, but I'm pretty committed to it!

I generally only drill into stats AFTER I have come up with a few possibilities who pass the eye test.

The exception being if I've missed a couple of games from one of the weaker sides and they have a generous set of fixtures coming up and one of their assets is producing strongly.

As far as Palace are concerned, I made a members table as I was curious to find out who was the midfield to get. None really stand out except for Cabaye. However, if you compare Dann's stats to say that of Puncheon and Zaha, then Dann really stands out. It might be worth getting him in if you are inclined. Having said that, Deulofeu seems the better bet in your case.

I'm not looking for this profile of player at the moment so I haven't done any research but he is a good footballer, good long pass on him, gets forward, and in a strong defensive team that has a good set of fixtures.

My initial thoughts were getting Bolasie because he is facing Sunderland on a Monday. But he is a typcial "Why the F**K did I get him two weeks later" kind of a player, isn't he? I've tried Barkley, he's in the same boat IMO. Willian the safest MID in the mid price bracket?

Being focal point of a big team for now is enticing. Plus all the set pieces.

    da Gea
    Cedric | Janmaat | Souaré
Sánchez | De Bruyne | Mané | Willian
    Lukaku | Pellè | Ighalo

    Surman | Cathcart | Moreno | Hennessey

    1FT
    4.6M

    What should my priorities be?

I have enough cash for Pellè --> Agüero in one move.

Many of them are keeping pelle for a week but if I had him I would take the risk and do pelle - kun with absolute confirmation that he plays.

    Butland, Schmeichel
    Kolarov, Francis, Toby, Ward, Moreno
    Ozil, KDB, Sanchez, Mahrez, Westwood
    Vardy, Martial, Pelle

    1ft, 3.7m in account.

What would you do with this bunch..
A few players at least.. out of form a bit.

    1. SonOfSteven
      10 years, 11 months ago

I would feel pretty confident going for Lukaku or Kane. Depending if you're up to getting Aguero or not. Your defense also would conscern me. Kolarov soon to be rotated, is Ward nailed...

  21. SonOfSteven

How do you guys feel about Hazard? I have a feeling he can go nuts soon. He's a bit of a differential to, I guess many of the % of the owenership belongs to dead teams.

    1. Murder on Zidane's Flo…
      10 years, 11 months ago

I agree that a lot of ownership will be dead teams and as such he can probably be considered a differential.

However, I can't see where this explosion is coming from. If I were a Hazard owner I'd probably be cr@pping it if he got a penalty- Id be expecting minus points.

Good luck to you but I don't see it personally. Consider how poor Costa looks as well. Where are there goals even coming from? Willian free kicks?

      1. SonOfSteven
        10 years, 11 months ago

It's a gamble, and a big one due to his price tag. He must perform really, really well to justify it. Much more likely I'll get Ozil, and shift Sanchez to Hazard if that day come. Thanks.

Maybe wait for the Mourinho meltdown to reach its inevitable conclusion. So many better options playing well in sides playing well atm.

I think it's better to wait till he scores or gets points first..when he starts doing that then we can bring him in

      1. SonOfSteven
        10 years, 11 months ago

I'm always looking to be that guy who brings such players just before that happens. But I think safety first is a good advice this time, and rather punt on cheaper players such as Lanzini or even Zaha.

    4. Jafalad
      10 years, 11 months ago

Way out of form and too expensive. Surprised he's even being mentioned still.

    5. Alittude
      10 years, 11 months ago

it doesn't matter how good hazard is, if chelsea as a team are performing like donkey doo doo, he isn't going to be able to be effective. It's just hoping by this point. I should know, i only got rid 2 weeks ago for payet.

What percentage do you reckon Aguero has of starting?

Of starting might be 15%, and of coming on as a sub around 77%

      10% start, 85% sub, 5% no show.

  23. Alittude
    10 years, 11 months ago

    Myhill
    Bellerin Smalling Alderwield
    Sanchez KDB Mahrez Ozil
    Pelle Ighalo Vardy

    Hennsey, Dawson, Nyo, Drinkwater

What moves should I be making next guys?

Thinking to do Pelle to Aguero next week.
Then possibly in a few weeks doing kdb > Mane and Dawson > Sqouare in order to fund ighalo > Lukaku, depending on how they all do.

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks.

After the Man City Game, Liverpool has decent fixtures.

What Attacking Asset are you looking to bring in from the team?

I want Benteke, but with the likes of Vardy, Lukaku, Kane, Giroud, Ighalo doing well how do we make room for him?

Other option is mid where Coutinho now having scored in the last 2 games. feels dangerous to own because of his past record..

    1. Jafalad
      10 years, 11 months ago

      Absolutely none of them.

Benteke is still finding his feet and Coutinho isn't heavy enough. Moreno is all you need.

Have him, but Klopp has attacking style of football so would want a Liverpool attacking player as well...

Will wait and watch whom to get

      1. I Member

I guess Ayoze's 8 points on the bench a couple weeks ago is haunting. Plus De Bruyne has blanked in 2 of his last 3 and Liverpool have looked more solid under Klopp.

    1. NABIL - FPL otai
      10 years, 11 months ago

This season is all about form over fixtures, trust me. And I've been burnt for realizing it too late.

One is class but injury prone. One is on form but an FPL troll, so really it's hard to tell.

Pure guessing is Lukaku. fwiw I;m having both

    2. Live Lad

      Simple question.

      AGUERO of course.

      1. NABIL - FPL otai
        10 years, 11 months ago

Not that simple. Before Aguero's explosion in GW8, Lukaku outscored him (even if you disregard GW1 where Kun only played 28 minutes)
