We call upon some fit-again Fantasy royalty this morning as Man City prepare to welcome Liverpool to the Etihad. Tottenham’s playmaker also earns the nod ahead of four home fixtures in six, whilst Bournemouth supply us with a cut-price out-of-position prospect for our five-man midfields.

Sergio Aguero

With Wilfried Bony ruled out injured, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed on Friday afternoon that Sergio Aguero is set to start against Liverpool later today.

Although his manager also revealed that Aguero won’t get the full 90 minutes, the Argentine marksman is more than capable of delivering explosive returns in limited time, as evidenced when he rattled five past Newcastle United in the span of 20 minutes in his last league appearance.

Across the last three Gameweeks that the 13.0-priced forward featured in, he ranked top among his counterparts for attempts (18), joint-top for shots inside the box (13) and second for shots on target (eight). Illustrating his dominance at the Etihad, Aguero still ranks joint-first among forwards for shots on target (10) at home, while only Graziano Pelle (33) boasts more attempts (24) in front of his own fans.

Having dropped in price to 13.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Aguero sits in just 11% of sides heading into this morning’s deadline – he’s very unlikely to remain such an effective differential for long.

With four home fixtures (LIV, SOU, sto, SWA, ars, SUN) in the next six, the suitors will be circling as we prepare to welcome back last season’s top scorer to domestic action.

Christian Eriksen

In the wake of his free-kick double against Swansea City in Gameweek 8, Christian Eriksen (8.4) has delivered just one assist in four outings. Attacking returns haven’t been forthcoming of late, but the quality of his performances was undeniable over a stretch that Spurs outscored their opponents by nine goals to three.

Across the last four Gameweeks, Eriksen charted top of Tottenham’s midfield contingent for attempts. In addition, the Danish playmaker has fronted the pack in terms of attempts (15) and shots on target (five) since his return to the starting line-up in Gameweek 7. His productivity on the distribution front has been the most impressive facet of his play: Mesut Ozil (23) was the only midfielder to chalk up more key passes than Eriksen (16) in his last four starts.

Harry Kane’s fine form (five goals in three starts) bodes well for Eriksen’s assist prospects ahead of a home tie against West Ham United. The Irons have claimed some big scalps on their travels this term, but they’ve failed to record a clean sheet in seven matches and place second for shots inside the box conceded (63) away from home.

With four home fixtures in the upcoming six (WHU, CHE, wba, NEW, sou, NOR) Eriksen looks to have the perfect platform to get back amongst the points.

Joshua King

Bournemouth’s recent search for a solution to Callum Wilson’s long-term knee injury has seen manager Eddie Howe talking up the prospects of Joshua King (4.6) over the last week or so.

The Cherries boss tasked King with leading the line in the second half of their Gameweek 11 head-to-head with Southampton, before handing him the reins for Newcastle’s visit in the previous league match. Classified as a midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League, the Norway international’s out-of-position potential on a shoestring budget has piqued our interest.

In his first start at the lone-striker berth, King ranked top of his team for shots inside the box (four) and shots on target (three). A lack of quality service would be an understandable concern in light of the Cherries’ recent impotence, yet the underlying stats paint a positive picture from that perspective, given that only Liverpool amassed more key passes (30) than the south-coast club (27) over the last two Gameweeks.

With many Fantasy managers eschewing their five-man midfield strategy in anticipation of Aguero’s return, King could well serve as the perfect enabler. Although Bournemouth are about to embark on a challenging quartet of match-ups (swa, EVE, che, MUN), King’s nominal price point renders him a relatively risk-free acquisition.

He HAD a knee problem but then played last GW the flag is because he didn't play for Cameroon but that was due to a paperwork issue. Should be in the team assuming the paperwork isn't still a problem and allies across football as a whole.

Just brings more disappointment than usual the minute that player concedes and even when you're lucky enough to see 6pts under your defenders name, it's still just 2pts, wait for 2 free transfers, then do it in my opinion.

Brought in Kolarov before the Everton match for a hit.
Rewarded with 15 points. Sometimes they do work.

Think that 4pt hit will easily be repaid over the next couple of weeks. Sometimes with defenders/keepers you just need to do it as there are invariably always other priorities.

    Overlooked Almen Abdi?

Abdi's shot contribution is very high. He takes an assist and a shot 3.91 times a game which is the best of all the players under 5m I am pretty sure. He's scored one goal and has a goal expectation of 0.79 so I was a little suprised to see that so short. I expected a higher expected goals stat. Then I looked at his creativity and yeah he is very creative. He has a very good min per chance created average, so thats where those numbers for the shot contribution come from
Abdi takes most of his shot outside the box. Not a bad option. Nailed on.

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 3 months ago

Thanks, but I'll pass. It's 0.4m wasted. Spare cash is infinitely better spent improving your starting line up than your bench by improving your bench. Say its even as high as a 1 in 5 hit rate that you need him to contribute, that still forgoes 4 out of 5 weeks where the cash would have been better spent on your outfield. And no I'm never going to consider rotating in Abdi if someone else in my front 7 has a bad fixture or suspension. If I cant feel comfortable playing one of my outfielders over playing Abdi, I'll sell them and get a proper attacker.

Seriously considering him again after I sold him for Mané week before last. Am selling Pellè and Mané this week, and with so many options upfront now, the Soton 3 player limit will not need to be considered.

A new milestone for Jose to add to his ever growing list......

The first time there's been no Chelsea player in the scout picks for a home game against Norwich

Personally, I would've stuck Willian in there.

Any reason why the differential post is posted just hours before deadline? Wouldn't it be better to see these differential picks when people still had their FT so they could get a change to consider them ? think pretty much everyone has used their FT by now...

I'm switching back to Vardy (C) from Lukaku.

Too many times this season I've overthought decisions and been annoyed at myself for not trusting my gut, saw some photos of Vardy running around in training like a spring chicken enjoying himself and smiling away.

For me, he starts, and scores today. Good luck to the lad, and to me!

there are some players Im not considering in my search for a fifth midfielder, one is Andrew Surman and the other is Darren Flectcher. Both these players are 4.4 I think and nailed on. But these guys have no goal threat or creativity. They are not attacking inclined in any form. I believe it is wiser to spend a sprinkle more and bring in someone, who might not be necessarily nailed, but at least boasts some kind of potential return. Yeah Surman will get you 2 points as an AE but so will your next defender on the bench as well. When are you ever not going to have one out of two other player not score 2? Surman and Fletcher are never going to get returns.

I don’t get this argument, 0.1, 0.2 even 0.3 isnt a lot in hindsight. Why not spend an extra 0.2 and get a player who might nab something and hopefully come in as an AE. Yeah, It’s a long shot and if it comes off, you would consider yourself to be lucky. But as the old saying goes, you make your own luck and I don’t think there is a more quintessential example than this one.

There hasn't been a George Boyd, this doesn't there isn't going to be one.

Spare cash is infinitely better spent improving your starting line up than by improving your bench. Say its even as high as a 1 in 5 hit rate that you need him to contribute, that still forgoes 4 out of 5 weeks where the cash would have been better spent on your outfield.

Good points but I am going all out on King - rotating with Ighalo - for now

          • Alderweireld over a £5.0m defender
          • Moreno over a £4.5m defender
          • Tadic over Barkley
          • Hendo over Deulo
          • Lukaku over Pelle

0.1 is plenty sir, if it stops you from being able to afford Aguero.

Aguero and Surman/Wanyama in for me next week.

Agree on the players BUT this why some go this cheap-

      Next week
      Pelle to Aguero
      Mata to 4.4

Its all the cash i have!

Having made wrong keeper choice for last 6 weeks or so, the obvious choice is to play Butland but at the last minute today, I'm going to put Myhill in and try to sneak up on Lady Luck!

    My fifth mid'er choices:

    Abdi, Alli, Sinclair, Morrison

I have Mahrez so the one I chose must play every game. Gonna watch them closely this GW.

    Any suggestions?
