634x258 Suspensions

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

Monk is a dead man walking. A thrashing by Liverpool could be the nail in the coffin. Rodgers to return? Who else could take up the role?

The way Swansea are conceding it's possible. The point of the question is who would be a suitable replacement for Monk if he does go?

I'm playing Mahrez & Vardy this week & I also have Smalling. Would you play Ake/Richards over Smalling since Leicester probably will score.

My defence = Smalling, Bellerin, Kolorov, Richards, Ake.

    Thanks.

Just a repost from last night for a new crowd...and anybody afraid of hits...

My son's mini league from his school...He's sat on top but look at the GW history of the lad in second place.

    He started in GW2....1x (-16) 2 x (-12) and 3x (-4).....OR182k.....10 green arrows since GW2..

    It's pretty good stuff.

      My team is linked...

I'll be downgrading VVD > Ward or Wolly - someone like that.
      Then Vardy > Lukaku soon.

Me. And no Mahrez either. How I've managed to stay within 200k is a miracle, considering a lot of top managers with the Leicester duo seem to be doing a lot worse.

The only reason I brought hardy was because , if I don't buy him , he will keep scoring and others will get points. If I buy him either I get points or no one will get points.

I regret taking a hit to get in Kane but going back to a 3-4-3 made sense for me:

    Butland

    Kolarov Bellerin Souare

    Sanchez KDB Mahrez Bolasie

    Aguero Kane Vardy

    Subs: McCarthy Gosling VVD Morgan

Anyone else just done Pelle->Kane this week?

I'll deal with Aguero later on. It's hard to argue with Lukaku+Kane's form and fixtures, doubt Aguero will top it in the short term.

Front 3 of Kane Lukaku Ighalo atm

      Pelle~ Lukaku for me.
      Got Kane already.

      Aguero for another GW..

I did it last week - yes this is a shameless gloat 😀

But yes I think it is a good move. I think any 3 from Ighalo, Vardy, Kane, Lukaku is enough to ignore aguero for a while.

Agreed. It'll be hard to bring in Aguero but I'm happy with this front 3

        Probably Mane->King + Sanchez->Ozil + Ighalo->Aguero... Still probably not enough actually

      Looks good RustyBZ..

Kane - Lukaku - Ighalo is the ideal front 3 this week methinks with Kun still not fully fit and fixtures getting congested..

Thanks IM. I'm benching Mane for Ighalo this week - makes sense right? I have Ayew too but can't drop a man who just bagged 12 pts.

Well played on Firmino! He could have got a hat trick...

          I'd 1000% play Ighalo anyway.

Close call between Ayew and Mané.
It depends on whether Kompany will play or not. If he's looking likely to start, then City's defence will look better, and I'd play Ayew. If Kompany is out injured though, I'd play Mané.

That was my reasoning for playing Firmino over Kolarov this week.

I was going to hold it in case of mid week injuries but saw Kane rising and Pelle dropping and just did it...

*prays for Kane to not get injured Thursday*

    Front 8:

    Sanchez KDB Ozil Mane Mahrez
    Lukaku Vardy Ighalo

    1 FT, 1.9M ITB

    A) Mane -> Coutinho (if fit), bench Mahrez/Vardy
    B) Mane, Vardy -4-> bench fodder, Kane, start both Leicester players
    C) KDB, Vardy -4 -> bench fodder, Kun

Thanks in advance for your help...
