Harry Kane scores twice as Tottenham sweep aside West Ham at the Lane. Christian Eriksen serves up a pair of assists, whilst Manuel Lanzini bags his third goal in five outings for the beaten visitors.

Kane at the Double

Courtesy of a resounding 4-1 victory against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches yesterday. Impressively, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now the top scorers at home, with 15 goals, and they have recorded just two losses in their previous 20 ties at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane’s 140,000 new owners were richly rewarded when he netted either side of the half. The 9.4-priced forward now has seven goals in his last four starts and 10 goals in 14 London derbies – which bodes well for a home clash against Chelsea next Gameweek. Moreover, Kane chalked up five more shots on target (13) than any other forward across the last four Gameweeks, underlining the form of Tottenham’s attack as a whole – incidentally, their 12 shots on target against the Hammers was the best of any team in a single match this term.

Spurs Defence Shows Attacking Edge

Spurs’ defence came up trumps for their other two goals. Toby Alderweireld scored with a near-post header and, along with Eric Dier, has netted twice this term – the Belgian’s ten attempts inside the box is more than any other defender in the top flight this term.

Kyle Walker notched his first goal in two years with a sublime finish and, at 5.0, continues to offer the cheapest route into Pochettino’s backline. In spite of their unbeaten run, though, Spurs are finding clean sheets hard to come by, with just a single shut-out in the last seven Gameweeks. Although Jan Vertonghen has yet to score, Alderweireld and Walker, along with Dier, present a strong claim for investment ahead of a relatively favourable end to the year (CHE, wba, NEW, sou, NOR, wat).

Eriksen in the Points

Christian Eriksen (8.4) put his name into the mid-priced hat with a brace of assists against the Hammers. The Danish playmaker lays claims to two goals and six assists in 10 outings and ranks second behind Mesut Ozil (19) for key passes (16) in the last four Gameweeks. Allied with his knack for crucial goals and free-kick proficiency, Eriksen should enjoy an increase on his modest 6% ownership as Spurs build momentum heading into the winter.

Dele Alli (5.0) highlighted his burgeoning potential as a budget midfielder – grabbing his third assist in six starts – but ended the afternoon on a sour note when he received a fifth yellow for ill-discipline, ruling him out of the Blues clash. Heung-Min Son also claimed an assist and excelled in his fourth Premier League start, casting doubt over Erik Lamela’s security of starts in the long-term. Nonetheless, both are likely to start next Gameweek in the wake of Alli’s suspension.

Lanzini Nets Hammers Consolation

The Irons’ heavy defeat at the hands of Spurs marked the first time they’ve conceded four on the road for two years. It was also their first head-to-head since Dimitri Payet sustained a serious ankle injury, inevitably raising concerns over West Ham’s ability to maintain their hitherto lofty standards in the Frenchman’s absence.

With Payet out of the picture, Manuel Lanzini justified the recent upturn in Fantasy interest by grabbing the visitors’ late consolation. Assisted by substitute Nikica Jelavic, the Argentine boasts three goals and an assist in the last five Gameweeks and is starting to emerge as a prime pick among the sub-5.5 midfielders. Afforded a central role in the number ten berth now that Payet is out of the picture, Lanzini will serve as their creative hub – potentially boosting his potential for attacking returns – though with clashes against West Brom, United and Stoke’s defences in the next three, Slaven Bilic’s side may find goals hard to come by.

I'm pretty bad at 101.8 Selling Value, and 104.1 buying value

However I don;t care as I'm near top 10k, have most of the players or near enough that are on form (bar Kun) and in a good spot.

Not used WC which i guess has contributed.

Eriksen is great all season, but he's only good if you have him for 75% of the season imo, then he starts to pay off, unless he explodes in that period.

I had him last season and he did the same thing. Kept him for a while and scored a few, assisted a few, but eventually had to out him because others had better form.

    Consistent but not explosive enough.

How do you decide when to make transfers when Price drops/increases are concerned, i.e. Should i wait to drop KDB for Firmino till friday, ignoring the price drop of KDB?

Always best to save them until as late as possible. Will that price drop make a big difference to your future plans? What news are you waiting for re: Firmino or just want to make sure he doesn't get injured?

      Depends on a few things..

      - Are the players involved playing midweek? Are you risking injury?

      - How much of a price swing are you talking and will it affect future near-term transfer targets?

      - Will you benefit from doing it early? Is the player nailed on or is waiting the safe option?

With Aguero back in side, I'll give KDB one more week. Give time and he'll pay just like I waited for Barkley, kept on the bench before this GW and Thanks to Klopp decision of benching Benteke, I did exactly the same and brought Barkley in starting XI. 🙂

Scout Pick Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 14

This season we have revamped how we involve the community in our Scout Picks. Once again we are on the look out for a champion to represent the community to take on the Scout Picks and win the chance of a prize.

The big difference this year is the launch of the Scout Pick Champion Lottery. If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk .

The champion will then be selected at random shortly after the deadline of 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday) and then be asked to submit their XI by Thursday 3pm by emailing me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of the 83m budget. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team. No captain or chips will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who beats the picks by the highest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher.
In addition, from this week FantasyBet (https://www.fantasybet.com/) are offering Community Champions the chance to win free entry into their £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22 by taking on our Scout Picks in a specially set up game ahead of Gameweek 11. In addition the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.
This is an extra offer that is available to any community champion who is 18 or over and not based in the US.
Champions will not be able to be selected as a champion for a second time. The champion will be revealed in a new midweek Scout Picks article on Tuesday, which will outline our initial thinking around the picks. Our and the champions picks will be revealed as usual the day before the first match of the Gameweek.

Should the community “Champion” fail to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then an “Assistant Manager” chosen by us, will gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question.

Very nervous, it was an awesome goal. But the players I'd be replacing for hits (Vardy and KDB) and the fact that I don't think I'd captain Kun this week means I'm happy to wait one more week.

I have an option to go with Smalling and Evans rather than Bellerin and Rojo, but I actually think he may be nailed.

LVG said that 'he couldn't play because he was jet-lagged' on Saturday when discussing injuries, which says to me that he's normally certain to start.

    Cech / Gomes
    Smalling / Rose / Moreno / Dawson / Janmaat

We all know Aguero is Aguero, but in my opinion, he is not worth his value especially when you have Kane/Lukaku/Vardy firing. If you don't intend on captaining him, then why are you getting him? Any one of KLV will be able to match his points imo so the only advantage you get will be the captaincy option.

This is true and may happen, but already Kane is 7 points up (if that decision was taken pre the GW) He also would have become captain for some people this week who bought him in when aguero wouldn't have been due to injury risk. If they would have gone for someone like Sanchez, thats another 5 points gained.

So Kane could already have up to 12 points in the bag. (I know these are ifs and maybes)

Auger could wipe that out in one game, yes, but Kane could also double it in one game.

I guess the moral is, play the form until he becomes super essential.

      1. Because I'm on my WC (which I can't save past Xmas anyway), so I can get him in easily.
      2. Because when he's rocking he genuinely IS essential, in a way that Sanchez or Hazard have never been.
      3. Because I have enough money to do so as no one over 10 million can hit a barn door right now.

You said it. Aguero is Aguero. Case closed.

If I do KDB to Firmino, then I can get Hendo as my fifth mid. Him playing in Milners position is very tempting. Milner has got forward quite a lot and in positions that he can score from. Hendo is far better

As I said wait for at least next GW. Go with KBD, If Agureo plays, KBD will also benefit from it.

      This x10.

      I'd be getting Sterling immediately.

      Meh.

On a wildcard this week so would just get Kane instead.

Sorry to p*ss on your parade, like.

Bench him and transfer out following week. Should be an easy enough downgrade.

Gone for a different flavour to my changes, keeping KDB.

    Pelle + Mane ➡ Aguero + Lanzini

Lanzini looks cracking value at 5.4m

I don't think it's reasonable to ship big hitters ahead of a potential 'bounce back' week tbh

When Kun is fit, Kun is in. He is a set-and-forget type player. Fixture-proof, always amongst the top captaincy choices every week. The best, most explosive player in the league. Sergio fecking Aguero!

      😀

I had been watching El Classico and Madrid were absolutely embarrassed, so it was pretty sweet logging on to FPL afterwards 😎

I spend most of my Saturday evenings thinking about Black Knights too.. 😐

Rafael Benitez heads for the Bernabéu exit as Cristiano Ronaldo joins the great Real Madrid protest

So shattering was Real Madrid’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona’s aesthetes that Cristiano Ronaldo, whose relationship with manager Rafael Benítez appeared frayed beyond repair, reputedly told team-mates in the Bernabéu dressing room: “Either he goes, or I go.”
