The first week of qualifying inthe inaugeral FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup got off to a flyer with several results of note. Egypt, one of the least experienced teams, came through the first week with flying colours, posting the fifth highest score of any team (333) and they are now sitting pretty at the top of the CAF qualifying group. This sets up a tantalising clash with The Seychelles.

The highest team score of the week award goes to Costa Rica with 351. They needed it too as their opponents Malaysia posted a very respectable 321. This would have been enough to have beaten most sides last week.

The average score for teams last week was 304.8. If your team scored more than that that you can consider yourselves unlucky if you lost – or extremely lucky if you squeezed out a win with a score lower than that.

Player of the week goes to Cylus11 of Croatia who posted a mammoth 92 points, as he led them to a 79-point victory over France

The award for worst substitution must go to Uruguay who benched Chenku who scored a massive 78 points after hits. This cost Uruguay the win in a tight match-up. This narrowly beat the benching of Jacknap by India as although they benched a greater number of points India still came away with the win.

Off the pitch, Tony Hibbert wins the award for best press conference revealing the Republic of Ireland’s elite pre-season training methods that would set them up for the tournament.

We also had the saga of the missing England players gone AWOL. If you are reading this and you belong to team England please make yourself known.

In fact the sheer quantity and quality of the pressers is too high to bring up here. But keep it up it is an invaluable part of the tournament and keeps it alive.

A full run-down of last week’s results can be found here:

Gameweek 2 Preview

We are looking forward to the second week of qualifying taking place this weekend, which includes a big South American match-up between Brazil and Argentina. Both sides which have tallied over 145,000 points between them in their Fantasy Premier League careers so it should live up to its billing.

Another big local derby is Germany against Poland, who will be desperate to get off the mark after losing their Gameweek 1 match against Portugal. Germany in contrast will be in confident mood after despatching Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A full list of the fixtures this week can be found here:

Fixtures FIFFSA

A more detailed summary of this can be found on the player history tab which includes the rank history of every player in the tournament and our team sheets and tables spreadsheet.

Further Information

A quick reminder of the format. Each Gameweek teams will pick a team of five players to go head to head with their opposite nation. The match will then be decided by the aggregate score of each team’s Gameweek scores after hits have been accounted for. This week’s games can be found here.

Captains are required to submit their team sheets to fiffsa.exec@gmail.com by 2300 (GMT) by the Friday of each Gameweek otherwise their sixth player will be automatically benched.

Live scorecards will be up shortly before the early kick-off on Saturday at our score centre spreadsheet.

If you have any further queries, feel free to ask below in the comments or email us at: fiffsa.exec@gmail.com

Enjoy the tournament; this is the FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup. Accept no imitations.

Our Bench Booster had Barkley, Bellerin, Nyom and Schmeichel benched. I kinda talked him into it. Would have done the same thing myself. Barkley with returns already and got high hopes of a Bellerin CS. Slight negative with Watford conceding though.

slowly, Google limits the number of web page scrapes a spreadsheet can do over time. Thats why it says this on the splash page:

Quick run down on Uruguay Vs Ecuador.

We are in front with 192 vs 133,, which makes us 59 points in front before any BAPS have been added. We have the highest score in the game so far but benched the wrong person again. We currently have 27 players left to play and Ecuador have 32,, so it could be very close again. Hopefully we'll get the victory.

OK so Seychelles are 27 points behind Egypt and you may think it is all over and be counting your 3 points already.

But we have one advantage and that is numbers.

    Seychelles differentials are:

    1 x Myhill
    2 x Dawson
    5 x Moreno
    1 x Alderweireld
    1 x Dier
    3 x Sanchez
    1 x Eriksen
    4 x Kane

    Egypt's diferentials are:

    1 x Bellerin
    2 x Ozil
    1 x Fabianski
    1 x Koscielny
    2 x Creswell
    1 x Rose
    2 x Coutinho
    1 x Lamela
    1 x Ayew

    It's a trap!

There are several significant chances for us to make big inroads as you will see. If Coutinho doen't play the subs coming in aren't strong.

        West Brom clean sheet
        Liverpool clean Sheet
        Kane Goals

All have massive point scoring potential.
We have 6 more players so that is potentially 12 points right there

They depend on Arsenal more. But they don't own any of the individuals to hurt as much as ours can.

Zambia - Moreno x3, Dawson, Sanchez, Evans, Lanzini, Myhill, Williams, Monreal, A. Ayew, and Eriksen.
South Africa - Ozil, Skrtel, Willian, Coutinho, Firmino, and Begovic. Zouma will replace Coutinho if Coutinho does not play.

We could use some #ProteaGoals from our differentials if we are going to win this one.

    Djibouti 263 v Ivory Coast 209

Djibouti's differentials: 2xBellerin, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Dier, Monreal, Dawson

    Ivory Coast's differential's: 2xEvans, Naughton, Azpilicueta, Rose, Coutinho, (Mane auto-sub 5p)

Would be a pretty big upset if we lost this. 🙂

      Posted just above.

I prefer putting it this way with all non-differentials eliminated:
Peru: Bellerin x2, Kane, Eriksen, Giroud, Benteke, Evans
Colombia: Ozil x2, Willian, Monreal, Skrtel, Myhill

If Ozil has another one of his days we could be screwed, hopefully Giroud will be involved though. Heavily relying on Spurs doing the biz for us like they did last week.

WBA CS will just be evened out. Arsenal CS won't make much difference with your Ozil CS points. Liverpool CS will be bad for us, but no crisis.

Attacking returns will decide this one for sure. Between the Spurs duo and Ozil IMO.

            Benteke aswell...

Doubt Giroud will make any difference for us as Ozil will be the likely provider of any goals.

      And when you cancel

Peru: 1 point, Bellerin(2), Kane, Erkisen, Giroud, Benteke and Evans

Colombia: Monreal, Skrtel, Myhill, Ozil(2) and Willian

Let's go Colombia, bench boost doesn't scare us, although definitely underdogs

Poland 198 v 183 Germany (after we add benched players who will be eventually involved)

    PLayers (differentials) remaining:

Poland: Rose, Moreno(3), Ayew, Eriksen, Kane(4)

Germany: Lloris, Cech, Dawson(2), Ozil(2), Sanchez

Only a Kane own goal can stop us from getting 3 points.

Not really, a high scoring Arsenal game and low scoring Spurs game could finish you quite easily.

I'd rather be in Germany's shoes right now which is a shame because it would be nice for us if you could beat them this week.

      Good luck!

We have an advantage of 15 points and 3 players, one assist/goal from Kane and it's over. Why would you rather be in Germany's shoes?

    Bosnia & Herzegovina 184 Vs. 195 Portugal

    A tight tie so far.

Bosnia & Herzegovina (19 LTP): Eriksen, Dier x2, Alderweireld, Benteke x2, Coutinho x2 (or 4pts from the bench), Moreno, Skrtel x2, Giroud x2, Monreal, Cech x2, Costa, Begovic, Lanzini
+ Sánchez x4 or 6pts from the bench if rested.

Portugal (12 LTP): Kane, Özil x2, Bellerín x3, Azpilicueta, Ayew, Evans, Dawson, Myhill x2
+ Sánchez x4 or 22pts from the bench if rested.
    + 11 points

Too close to call but we're hoping West Brom shut out West Ham, Arsenal hammer Norwich (with Sanchez rested and Giroud blanking) and that Spurs and Liverpool concede (ideally to Azpilicueta and Ayew goals).

    Força Portugal!
