We revert to a 3-4-3 formation this weekend but choose to overlook Sergio Aguero for City’s home clash with Southampton. Stoke and Liverpool supply us with a couple of players apiece, whilst Jamie Vardy warms the bench as we turn to Everton and Tottenham’s in-form frontmen to lead the line instead.

Jack Butland is selected between the posts for Stoke’s trip to Sunderland. The Potters have racked up five clean sheets in six, whilst Butland sits second amongst keepers for saves so far, suggesting he could still pick up points if the Black Cats find a way past Mark Hughes’ resilient back-four.

Alberto Moreno earns the nod as Liverpool welcome Swansea to Anfield. The left-back has yet to produce any attacking points under Jurgen Klopp but it’s not for a lack of trying – since the German was appointed in Gameweek 9, Moreno sits joint-top for shots (six) and second for key passes (seven) amongst defenders.

We’re keeping faith in Scott Dann despite his disappointing display in Palace’s home loss to Sunderland on Monday evening. The centre-half – who sits second amongst defenders for efforts in the area over the last four – now hosts a Newcastle side that have scored just twice on their travels, suggesting he could atone for his one-point haul against the Black Cats.

West Ham’s raiding left-back Aaron Cresswell has created more chances (nine) than any defender over the last four Gameweeks ahead of a home encounter with West Brom. Given that the Baggies have netted just three times away from the Hawthorns, the Hammers could be in line for a first clean sheet in nine attempts.

We overlook Alexis Sanchez and call upon the consistent Mesut Ozil as Arsenal make their way to Norwich. The German has contributed to nine of his side’s 13 strikes over the last six Gameweeks, courtesy of a goal and eight assists, and will surely play a pivotal part against a defence that have kept out their opponents just once all season.

With no space for Sergio Aguero up front in this week’s Picks, we’re turning to Kevin de Bruyne instead as City welcome Southampton to the Etihad. Granted, the Belgian has struggled for form in recent matches but it’s worth noting that last week’s blank against Liverpool was the first time in five home outings that the summer signing has failed to pick up points in front of his own fans.

Roberto Firmino is our Liverpool midfielder of choice for Sunday’s home encounter against a Swansea side with one clean sheet in the last 11 Gameweeks. With doubts still hovering over Philippe Coutinho’s fitness, we turn to his compatriot on the back of a goal and two assists against City last time out. Given that Jurgen Klopp admitted earlier today he was uncertain whether Christian Benteke “is able to play two games in three days”, Firmino could be set for the central role up front once again.

Jon Walters comes in for Stoke’s trip to a Sunderland outfit with just one clean sheet at the Stadium of Light. Handed a role up front by Mark Hughes in Gameweek 11, the Republic of Ireland has fired eight shots inside the box over that period – that’s double the number of Alexis Sanchez, for example, and second amongst midfielders.

Romelu Lukaku is a nailed-on option as Everton roll up to struggling Bournemouth. Top of our weekly Captain Poll once again, the big Belgian has racked up four goals and a pair of assists in the last three and has already served up double-figure hauls away to the likes of West Brom and Southampton. Given that the Cherries have one clean sheet all season, Roberto Martinez’ men look poised for another successful afternoon.

Harry Kane cannot be overlooked for Spurs’ home encounter with Chelsea. The frontman has delivered seven goals in his last four and netted in last night’s Europa League victory, underlining his outstanding return to form after a slow start to the season. Kane bagged two goals and a pair of assists in the corresponding fixture last year and will fancy his chances against a defence that’s conceded at least twice in five of their six road trips.

Watford’s Odion Ighalo looks well-placed to take advantage of basement-dwellers Aston Villa this weekend. With four goals and two assists in six away matches so far, the Nigerian could be in line to plunder the points against Remi Garde’s out-of-sorts side.

Hector Bellerin makes the bench as Arsenal head to Norwich. The right-back has produced two assists and a pair of clean sheets in his last four away appearances, underlining his potential for points at both ends of the pitch.

After being selected for last week’s Spot the Differential article, Joshua King makes the step up to the Scout Picks bench this week. Bournemouth’s out-of-position midfielder grabbed his first goal of the season last week and hosts an Everton defence with a single clean sheet in seven.

Jamie Vardy is somewhat unfortunate only to make the bench. A home match against United’s defence is no easy task as he looks to score for the eleventh successive league appearance but, having picked up points against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal at the King Power, he’ll be fired up in his attempt to break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record.

THE COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Having scrapped the weekly vote idea from last season, we now operate a lottery system to pick our weekly candidates. The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season.

Gameweek 13’s community champion Jossy narrowly lost to the Scout Picks by 48 points to 49. Massive stays in the lead to claim the £100 Amazon voucher, then, after beating us by 16 points in Gameweek 6.

Gameweek 14’s Community Champion, as selected by our lottery, is Trust John. His selection is as follows: Hennessey; Van Aanholt, Moreno, Cresswell, Bolasie, Sanchez, Ritchie, Firmino, Lukaku, Aguero, Ighalo.

  7. Bedknobs and Boomsticks

Following on from my stunning revelation that Bournemouth have conceded fewest SiBs at home this season, here's the breakdown. SiBs after the opponant, with that teams average SiBs away from home in brackets:

    avl 4 (5.4)
    lei 4 (10.6)
    sun 3 (6.3)
    wat 6 (5)
    tot 9 (9.5)
    new 2 (5.3)
    eve ? (6.8)

So it seems that they are restricting opposing teams to fewer SiBs than average. What I supose it doesn't show is that if you use Paul Riley's website a huge proportion of those shots have been taken from around the penalty spot, which surely has to be good for a striker like Lukaku. Ho hum....

    Good evening, gentlemen.
Can you advise which one of chaps listed below should be benched?

    A) Sanchez
    B) De Bruyne
    C) Bolasie
    D) Mahrez
    E) Vardy

    1. Daaf
      10 years, 11 months ago

I would play Bolasie, so therefore probably Mahrez. It would be ballsy to bench KDB, but that could easily backfire since he will probably complete 90 minutes.

      1. Smoking Barrel
        10 years, 11 months ago

Should I play All Out Attack if I also have Ozil, Ighalo and Lukaku?

        1. Daaf
          10 years, 11 months ago

I suspect there won't be many gameweeks that will give you better match ups.

          Sorted on price:
          nor - SOU - nor - NEW - MAN
          bou - MAN - AVL

          Who are your other defenders?

          1. Smoking Barrel
            10 years, 11 months ago

            Monreal, Alderweireld, Kolarov
Moreno and Williams on the bench

            1. Daaf
              10 years, 11 months ago

Then screw AOA. Decent players, and somebody will probably blank. Just difficult to predict who will. Moreno is playing in my team, I am also thinking about benching Sagna instead of Evans. West Ham seem to be declining. I can see Ronald Koeman making it a tough game for City.

I would bench Mahrez, United will make it a dull affair. Or KDB if you fancy Leicster.

        1. Daaf
          10 years, 11 months ago

With Shaw injured he will play most games. Darmian has looked lost, and Blind is needed at CB. Jones injured a lot. He tends to pick up a yellow card now and then, but he also get some attacking returns so he could be a decent option. The fact that LVG subbed him a few weeks ago when he was on a yellow and replaced him with a teenager shows you he is important to them and he need him fit / not suspended.

thanks a lot mate. im on WC and wascon DDG but thought of butland a cheaper and yet still very good option and wanted a utd def replacement (not very convinced with spurs keeping many cs)

                  10 years, 11 months ago

That million goes a long way. Especially with Aguero coming back and some funds tied up in defenders.

Myhill becomes an option again in a few weeks, and Butland has been killing it for Stoke.

So while DDG might not be a bad pick, he sure as hell isn't the best. If he saved that watford penalty we wouldn't be having this conversation, but with Butland getting far more points I wish I went with the cheaper keepers.

                        augero lukaku vardy

thinking of butland, rojo and coutinho instead of ddg, aldy and barkley

tried unsuccessfully to get in silva instead of barkley. thats the entire situation

                      2. Daaf
                        10 years, 11 months ago

That looks like a good team. Yeah, I know what you mean, I also had to choose Barkley or Coutinho, but the uncertainty of Coutinho made me choose Barkley. I have Ayew instead of Gosling, but the rest of your midfield is the same as mine.

Getting Silva right now is hard, and last year he was great, I am also monitoring him and 9.9 is a bargain. Aguero is so expensive, but you need him at some point. I am holding off for now but can see why you're getting him. Improving this team is kind of hard, letting go of Vardy might be the way to go but when he is still scoring it's hard.

My team at the moment is
                        DDG - McCarthy
                        Bellerin - Sagna - Moreno - Evans - Janmaat
                        Sanchez - Ozil - Ayew - Barkley - Mahrez
                        Kane - Lukaku - Gomis

Gomis needs work to go obviously, but I don't really like Ighalo and Vardy because of fixtures. I have exact money for Benteke, but he doesn't seem to play. And it would be for -8, so sticking with this bunch for now might the best option.

i know augero, wolly, coutinho are better to stay for a week but im already on my WC, so im not planning just for next week. its a main to just make few changes on it later.

after checking the link u sent me, ddg seems good again.

now by downgrading gosling to surman, i can have coutinho with:
                        ddg hennessey
                        evans, moreno, bellerin, wolly, simpson

    Brilliant this online shopping lark...

    Mrs Wakey has just ordered

One set of 12mt outdoor lights for a 5mt long wall
One Xbox360 game for my lads XboxOne
One Christmas tree 2ft taller than our living room....

    Sheesh...

      Double up the lights.
Pretty sure you can play Xbox 360 games on an Xbox One (although I have never owned either so not 100% sure).
Chop off the bottom of the tree?

Chop of th bottom of th tree, duh. It's 2 feet too tall , he obviously needs to take it off the top.

Is it worth getting Ozil in for either KDB, Bolasie or Mane and who do I bench in midfield?

    Hennessey (DDG)
    Moreno Bellerin Sagna (Williams) (Cedric)
    Mahrez Sanchez KDB Bolasie (Mane)
    Vardy Lukaku Ighalo

It went something like Monday night good for defenders, rubbish for strikers; late Saturday kick off great for strikers, rubbish for defenders. Or something like that. Not sure how reliable 13 weeks of data is, but there you go.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 14

    Gameweek 13 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/11937370

Take advantage of the deadline! (Although it's VERY strictly enforced)

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Saturday 28th November, 2.00pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. Essentially, if you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 3 scoring positions or not.

    ****** SEASON RANKINGS ******

    1st - Balders (13pts)
    2nd - Mr.Robot (10pts)
    3rd - Dusan Citizen (9pts)

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

Already used up my transfers this week but I'm trying to come up with a plan to get Kane in my team, which will give me a front line of Aguero, Lukakyu, Kane. Thinking of doing the following:

DDG, Kolarov, Vardy -> Hennessey, Moreno, Kane.

    Question is:
    A) Kolarov -> Moreno for -4 this week, DDG, Vardy -> Hennessey, Kane next week for -4
    B) Kolarov -> Moreno next week, DDG, Vardy -> Hennessey, Kane on GW16 for -4
    C) All 3 moves next week for -8
