A trio of new protagonists toppled off the Suspension Tightrope over the weekend’s ten fixtures. Palace wide man Wilfried Zaha, West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob and Villa defender Ciaran Clark were the guilty parties, with all three set to miss Gameweek 15 as their clubs do not have midweek Capital One Cup fixtures to bail them out.

Zaha was booked for simulation just three minutes before scoring his first goal since the opening day of the season – he now misses the upcoming trip to Everton a week tomorrow. Yacob earned an 81st-minute yellow during the Baggies’ draw at West Ham, whilst Clark finally succumbed to the high wire with a fifth booking, more than two months after collecting a fourth yellow card in the Capital One Cup third round. The Villa centre-half was the second player in the top-flight to reach four cautions but had been hampered by fitness and selection issues ever since. He’s been named in all three of Remi Garde’s starting XIs, though, and will now miss the upcoming visit to Southampton.

Ryan Shawcross also received a one-match ban. The Stoke skipper collected two yellows in a five-minute spell either side of half-time for fouls on Steven Fletcher and Duncan Watmore as Mark Hughes’ men fell to a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland. He’ll miss the Capital One Cup Quarter Final against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek but will be available for next week’s tough home encounter with Man City.

Post-match, Hughes slammed the decision to send his captain packing as Stoke lost for just the second time since Gameweek 5:

“I think the referee didn’t show any common sense really and should have given Ryan the benefit of the doubt. Ryan feels he got a nick on the ball before the lads gone down so I’m disappointed from that point of view. The referee, on the day, didn’t perform as I’ve seen him perform before; unfortunately he got the awarding of the free kick that led to their first goal wrong as well. Those are the key moments in the game that change it and unfortunately they were negative for us.

Elsewhere in the same match, Erik Pieters joined Alex Tettey at the top of the Tightrope charts with his sixth booking – no Premier League player has more this season.

There were five new additions to this week’s Tightrope. Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling joined team-mate Matt Ritchie to double the number of Cherries on the wire. Stoke’s Charlie Adam picking up a fourth yellow for a crunching challenge on Lee Cattermole at the Stadium of Light, whilst Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue also saw yellow in yesterday’s fixtures.

Spurs defensive duo Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker joined them today, meaning that 18 players now sit just one caution shy of a single-match suspension. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now received 33 bookings in the league this season – that’s more than any other side, with Liverpool (32) and West Brom (30) next in line. In the case of the first two in particular, their penchant for pressing opponents is clearly incurring the referees’ wrath.

Seven players will return from bans in time for Gameweek 15. Graziano Pelle, Lucas, Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Brunt, Robert Huth, Mark Noble and Dele Alli are available once again after falling off last week’s Tightrope, whilst James Collins comes back into contention for West Ham, having sat out a three-match ban.

of course he will play if fit. He's a wizard and the team is ten times better with him in it.

      if fit then yes

  8. Super Tim Cahill

35 minutes to price changes so excuse me while I think out loud..

Sanchez obviously has to go and I'm losing .1 unless I transfer him now (will probably still wait though to weigh up my options).

Hazard I'm not considering at the moment even though I can afford him. No form and his expensive price tag means I can't upgrade Myhill or Vardy if his scoring spree ends. May be playing up front for a while though judging by Costa's histrionics yesterday.

Silva would be great but it seems like he has a long term ankle problem which is going to greatly affect his playing time this season.

I already have Ozil, Mahrez, KDB (and Westwood!)

So Coutinho and Barkley seem like the best options. Possibly Deulofeu or Bolasie if I was going to be aggressive and look for a differential (which I'm not).

Coutinho seems to have turned a corner this year. Rather than trying outrageous shots from 30 yards out he is making a lot more ground into the box and scoring more goals as a result. Klopp's team set up seems to play to his strengths coming in off the left wing and counter attacking. Coupled with that is that most of my mini league rivals have him and they have 6 good fixtures coming up. On the downside he is yellow flagged (although seems fit) and may even have a midweek game. His price won't be going anywhere with the flag.

Barkley is the other option. Another inconsistent performer in the past who seems to have located the goal lately. He is cheaper and has no fitness concerns. His ownership in the top 10k is extremely high and is affecting my ranking considerably as a result. He has been transferred in by every man and his dog this week and will surely rise .2 at least this week. However after the next 4 great fixtures the 4 after that are quite tough and I'm not sure he's someone I can carry through poorer fixtures with only a cheap 5th mid as cover. And up until 2 weeks ago it seemed like Deulofeu was a better option for Everton..

Seems like a narrow win for Coutinho although the price rises and high ownership in the top 10k for Barkley do scare me a bit..

Im assuming it took u like 15min to type that since its 15min to price changes.

I reckon Barkley will start getting 2pointers again after the good fixtures. Coutinho is in good form, but i'm not quite sure he got the end product in him. An enjoyable player to own if you watch the games. Have you considered Eriksen? Very involved in everything spurs does, and he got "long term" good fixtures

Is Aguero KDB Silva really a wise move? None of the fixtures in the next 6 except SUN look like drubbings.

Had Aguero + Silva earlier in the season and the week they both got injured together, I decided I wouldn't own the pair together.

Going to lose 0.1M on Sanchez tonight but to be fair it's not that bad. He could end up being fit and I can assess how Silva, Coutinho and Barkley play midweek. I also can afford another drop. I doubt he'll drop 0.3M before Thursday.

Lots of talk about Hazard as a Sanchez replacement but I can't think of any FPL who offers worse value for money. Yes he has the potential to "explode" but he's already been dropped a few times this season, there's so many cheaper and more in-form midfielders, and is he really captainable? Personally, I'm avoiding all Chelsea attackers until they thrash a team and convince me otherwise. They've only scored 3 goals once this season which is embarrassing..

Got it down to 3 players
1.silva dose not get many goals but can assist a lot and just came back from being out so playing time could come into play.

2.Kdb I think he could get more goals than silva but plays on the wing and not in middle where he likes to play.

3.Barkley in the form of his life and Everton have good fixtures.
All of these are for 4 points.

Youd think you weren't allowed to take a punt in this game with the negativity being spouted about Hazard.

        I've got him in.

        And I'm delighted about it.

        Doubt I'd captain him though.

Normally he wouldn't be worth considering at that price as a non-captain punt, but with so little pressure on our budgets it's not a problem.

His price is fairly irrelevant with the smooth of values picks in the game and the fact I'm moving from a more expensive player to him.

See how the next four games go is my thinking.

Caution Hazard ahead. Too many of us have punted him and this could be another false dawn but I hope its not.

I understand what they are saying but if you think about it ......... if you want to be a top player you have to do things that this site thinks are bad. If you dont you cant finish in the top 100 as will be too template

        Your 100% right.

I have been scorely steady this season without having at least one blockbuster gw rank.

I'm afraid I've become too template, time to change that.

You can do what you want. It's your team. But this forum is in place to give and take advice. Those who think getting Hazard in is silly, are welcome to do so. If not prepared to not get applauded on such moves, simply don't post.

I thought it was a pretty brute ignorant reply tbh.

I don't get where exactly I wanted applause and that I should not post if not prepared to not be applauded.

I'm not sure how I was ignorant but simply stating what I'm seeing. Hazard is a poor pick.
What I was saying is don't get upset if people respond to your comments in a way you weren't hoping for.

I would imagine there is a lot of bitterness from jilted former owners, as if they don't want anyone else to own him if/when he comes good. I held for 10 weeks so am not going back there, but his class is undeniable.

        This is it.

vs Coutinho or Barkley there's no doubt Hazard is the best player.

I look at last years POTY displays and think if I got flashes of that in the next 4 games it could boost me up the rankings.

The template has gone a bit stale.

I just pulled the trigger to bring hazard in. I can punt on anyone really because budget is not an issue. 4 prime fixtures. 190, 202, 223 in the last three years. I've punted on lesser players.

I think we've got ourselves a shortage of decent premium midfield picks atm.

    A) KDB - fixtures are too bad to double up on Aguero
    B) Silva - very risky considering his injury record and the tight schedule
    C) Coutinho - not sure he's fit
    D) Hazard - better not go there before he shows a tiny bit of last year's form
