With Gameweek two of the inaugural FIFFSA 5-a-side world cup now completed, the groups are now starting to take shape, apart from UEFA group B where each team has recorded a single victory. With another five matches to go, there is still everything to play for in the tournament.

Gameweek 2 Review

The Cayman Islands shook off a first week defeat by posting the highest team total of 377. This was compared to an overall average team score of 319.

Uruguay once again won the award for the worst benching decision. This week they benched Riazor who, was not only their highest scoring player, but also the highest scoring player in the tournament with 94pts. Luckily for them, this wasn’t enough to prevent them from defeating Ecuador 366 to 323.

Away the pitch, Oghash wins the award for the best press conference revealing the underhand tactics some teams will go to ahead of the tournament matches.

Gameweek 3 Preview

Looking forward to Gameweek 3 of the competition and gameweek 15 of FPL for the season, we see some interesting matchups.

The standout fixture of the week will be the trans-Tasman affair between Australia and New Zealand. Australia, led by Jeanz have started the tournament with two wins while New Zealeand, led by Deadzone regular Innsie, are rooted to the bottom of the table with 0 points.

Despite their victory in the opening gameweek, Iceland followed the result up by posting the lowest team total in gameweek 2. They now face off against San Marino who, despite being hotly tipped at the start of the tournament, have lost their opening two fixtures.

Lastly, two FIFFSA members will be facing off at the weekend when USA take on their arch rivals Cuba. With 0 points so far, USA will be desperate for the victory but up against the 3rd most experienced team in the tournament, it won’t be an easy task.

A detailed summary of this can be found on the player history tab which includes the rank history of every player in the tournament at our team sheets and tables spreadsheet.

Further Information

A quick reminder of the format. Each Gameweek teams will pick a team of five players to go head to head with their opposite nation. The match will then be decided by the aggregate score of each teams’ Gameweek scores after hits have been accounted for. This week’s games can be found here.

Captains are required to submit their team sheets to fiffsa.exec@gmail.com by 2300 (GMT) by the Friday of each Gameweek otherwise their sixth player will be automatically benched.

Live scorecards will be up shortly before the early kick-off on Saturday at our score centre spreadsheet.

If you have any further queries, feel free to ask below in the comments or email us at: fiffsa.exec@gmail.com

Enjoy the tournament; this is the FIFFSA 5-A-Side World Cup. Accept no imitations.

As a final request, please do try and keep FIFFSA 5-A-Side chat to the comment sections of our articles.

    Iran v New Caledonia
Looks very close, here's how it looks with known auto subs.

    Iran +18pts
    McCarthy (CRY) Moreno, Bolasie, 2 x Deulofeu , 2 x Sturridge.

    New Caledonia
Elliot. 2 x Galloway, Ward, Clyne, Lukaku, Benteke, 2 x Firmino.

Sturridge starting with Benteke on the bench will go a long way towards an Iranian win.
Galloway CS & brace seals it for Cally 😉

repost: I've updated the tables to be "as it stands" a few teams are looking to be in trouble early doors while Cuba seem almost unstoppable. Of course everything can change with two games remaining and autosubs to come.

    Hello Peruvians! Greetings from Ecuador.

So, it comes down to Coutinho's moods and intentions today. Reports are that he did not train yesterday which does not rule him out yet, but it definitely does not look good. Contrary to Ecuador having an extra Coutinho being a bad news, one of the first subs is Mahrez!! So, it comes down to:

    ----PERU---- ----ECUADOR----
    Deulofeu Lukaku
    Benteke
    Coutinho. Coutinho x 2
(Dawson 2 points). (Mahrez 21 Points)
+40 point lead on Saturday (Wijnaldum)

(The first subs are in brackets)

Hence, a Lukaku brace followed by a Coutinho no-show and a shock Newcastle win with Wijnaldum involvement should make things interesting. 😀

      Hola!

I'm a Liverpool fan and I can tell you that Coutinho did not even travel with the team to Newcastle. So you'll be getting your stupid Mahrez off the bench. 😀

Therefore realistically it's a 19 point lead and you've got a player more then us left (you forgot Bolasie?). Praying for a Benteke haul today and Wijnaldum to stay quiet to seal the deal. Otherwise Lukaku could go wild on monday and bring us down.

May the best team win and good luck!

As things stand between Greece and Finland:

Greece have Mignolet, Souare and Bolasie

Finland have Lukaku x2, Janmaat, and Coutinho (1st sub 1pt) plus 20pts.

On the face of it Team Zambia should be coasting to its third victory and the brink of World Cup qualification, with a lead of 16 points over Tanzania and a stronger line up for the remaining games. However, Tanzania have had a reprieve (clearly paying their masters in the Seychelles!!!), with their 2 x Aguero being replaced with Mahrez and Alli auto subs. All in, they have a 15 point lead (counting auto subs) going into the final fixtures, with differentials as follows:

    Tanzania:
    1 x Mignolet
    1 x Coleman
    1 x Deulofeu
    3 x Barkley

    Zambia:
    3 x Moreno
1 x Coutinho (2 point auto sub if doesnt play - none of the Tanzanian luck for us)
    3 x Lukaku

A Liverpool clean sheet would even things up, and leave us needing Lukaku to bring it home. Without the clean sheet, or Moreno attacking returns, I think it may be a step too far.

RMT predicts Tanzania to win by 7 based on differentials remaining.

Of course if I'd made the correct captaincy decision, we'd also be much closer...

Tight as it comes between Mexico and Jamaica, but Jamaica slight favourites as it stands.

Assuming Cout doesn't play (mostly likely scenario) and taking into account all bench appearances:

    Jamaica: +8
    2 x Moreno
    Deufelou
    Ward
    Firmino

    Mexico:
    Mignolet
    Skertl
    Lukaku x 2
    Barkley
    Bolasie

Damn... we haven't had a match as close as this one yet. Looks like I'll be putting some money for Everton clean sheet and a Bolasie goal then. 😉

A 0-0 would be perfect for us. 😀

That or Bolasie to match whatever Lukaku does. But you all have Big Rom so I know you guys don't mind if he scores... 😀

A 2-2 draw with goals for Coleman, Lukaku and Bolasie (2) would be great. 😀

Seems like it was perfect result, had nobody playing today, and lost less than 100 places in or.

I think this goes against the code of conduct. You could be facing a points fine or suspension now.
