We take our regular trip to the Weekly Shop this evening, assessing the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

The player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

Stoke continued their extraordinary run of defensive returns last weekend, picking up a seventh clean sheet in nine with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Jack Butland (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 7.3m) earned 11 points after making eight saves at the Boleyn Ground and secured all three bonus for the third time in six weeks, making the Potters shot stopper the stand-out keeper pick as Crystal Palace travel to the Britannia.

Chelsea continue to toil under Jose Mourinho, with the 2-1 defeat at Leicester making it nine league defeats this campaign – equaling their entire total of league losses during his previous three-year stint as manager. The Blues have, nonetheless, kept four clean sheets in their last six matches across all competitions and will be under pressure to keep the Black Cats out at Stamford Bridge. Kurt Zouma (FantasyBet 5.5m, PremierPunt 8.2m) is a regular starter and offers the cheapest route into the back four.

Georginio Wijnaldum (FantasyBet 7m, PremierPunt 8.2m) sits fourth in the midfielders leaderboard, having played a part in 10 of Newcastle’s 18 strikes so far this season. The Dutchman also prefers home comforts, with all seven of his goals arriving at St James’, and now hosts an Aston Villa outfit that have conceded 16 times in their last six away trips.

While Harry Kane’s form has dropped off, Romelu Lukaku (FantasyBet 8m, PremierPunt 12.2m) maintained his scoring streak by netting for the sixth successive match away to Norwich last time out. Table-toppers Leicester City visit Goodison on the back of two clean sheets away to Swansea and Newcastle but the Foxes had conceded in every away trip prior to those matches and, crucially, will be missing the suspended Robert Huth.

Poundstretchers

Newcastle welcome Villa in decent defensive form, with three clean sheets in the last six Gameweeks, including a shut-out against Liverpool in their previous match at St James’. Budget keeper Robert Elliot (FantasyBet 4m, PremierPunt 6.4m) looks excellent value against an attack that’s scored just twice in their last four road trips, whilst Daryl Janmaat (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 7.8m) is also an option, with his raids down the right serving up a goal and two assists so far.

Manchester United may have some serious injury concerns at the back but, having chalked up four successive clean sheets at home and conceded only one goal in seven matches at Old Trafford, Louis Van Gaal’s side will be confident of keeping out promoted Norwich in front of their own fans. Patrick McNair (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 5.4m) has started the last three and provides an inexpensive route into the defence.

Bournemouth travel to a West Brom side that have failed to keep a clean sheet in six and have conceded three times at the Hawthorns on four occasions already. The Cherries, meanwhile, will be buoyed by back-to-back victories against Chelsea and Manchester United, making Junior Stanislas (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 5.8m) a real bargain on the back of three goals and an assist in the last four Gameweeks.

Only Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 8.5m, PremierPunt 12.3m) now sits ahead of Gerard Deulofeu in the assists chart, after the young Spaniard grabbed his eighth in the last ten Gameweek at Carrow Road. Deulofeu’s creativity and link-up play with Romelu Lukaku could be key to unlocking the Leicester defence this weekend – he’s kindly priced at 6.5m in FantasyBet, while in PremierPunt, he’s classed as a forward and available for 9.4m.

A trip to the Liberty Stadium, where managerless Swansea have conceded 11 times in their last five home matches, provides an opportunity for West Ham to get amongst the goals. Although Slaven Bilic’s side have drawn blanks in the last two, Mauro Zarate (FantasyBet 5.5m, PremierPunt 7m) has offered plenty of threat in recent weeks – the Argentine has fired 13 attempts over the last three Gameweeks and could be set to add to his three-goal tally so far.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

Fair enough just think your big three defenders have to play for their attacking threat.
Deul has to be the one in the front eight to sit it out then

Can relate. Chelsea's past history of performances always catches up on u and a Chelsea fan always hopes that the next game is the game where they perform. But if u look at it in a different way, they are helping other teams find their form like Bournemouth for e.g., an honorable action

Fixtures are okay, especially if you don't mind benching now and again.
But with the cloud of uncertainty over Swansea, and more attractive options out there, I'm on the fence.

My 5th mid is Alli so I'm probably playing Ayew if I keep him. Definitely shipping him for Ramsey in the near future though, pending potential injuries of course.

Morning DZ, struggling with a transfer decision - hoping to get my season back on track this festive period. Team is:

    DDG
    Skrtel Dawson Coloccini
    Ozil Silva Mahrez Barkley
    Kane Lukaka Vardy

    Kolarov*, Naughton*, Surman

    A) Kolarov > McAuley - double up on WBA defence as a punt to try get ahead of the curve for once this season. Upside not great.

    B) Barkley > Ramsey - probably want Ramsey anyway and have never liked Barkley as an FPL asset....just desperate at one point and hopped on his bandwagon

    C) Surman > Ramsey - strong 8 for festive period, benched points guaranteed, and almost zero flexibility

A leaves me enough to get Kun if necessary for Kane, B does not, C has zero flex.

Thanks in advance for replies, might not reply immediately - off for a short meeting.

The GW I sold Payet & KdB, they scored 16pts. Pedro, Mane & Kane had point hauls for few GWs, and all of them stop getting points since I bought them. I also benched Mahrez the GW he scored 15pts. I am sure I am not the worst, but I am also very sure not too far from it. 😆

The problem with B is Ramsey has a tougher fixture. Leicester looked shaky in the second half against Chelsea and an in form Everton side can find a way through. I wouldn't rule out Barkley being involved.

Ok, what I meant to say is that Barkley is as good an option if not a better option than Ramsey this week because Leicesters defence doesn't look that great and Evertons attack looks fantastic. Meanwhile Ramsey will be up against City and imo that is going to be a tougher match for him.

Fair point but the thing with Barkley is suddenly he'd explode out of nowhere with a brace. He's more than capable and it depends if Everton play more through the middle. With Drinkwater possibly out that might be exactly what they do.

Cheers Ryan. Worried about Barkley's more passive role in recent games with alot of the play going through Deulofeu. Set pieces have also mostly gone to Baines. I haven't got points from Barkley yet so perhaps the stubborn part of me wants to keep him even though Ramsey seems pretty obvious.

yea. seems dull but I'm liking the sound of A - though I knew it wouldn't get votes because its a defensive transfer.

Quite hesitant to touch my front 7. Only one I would lose is Kane...could swap to Aguero this week for free but yeaaaa been there done that, would prefer to wait.

Hmm. Spending the Aguero money may not be advisable. If he scores against Arsenal, then would you really ignore him for Sunderland?

Yea that's the thing, I want the cash for a quick switch to Aguero as I can foresee most ML rivals struggling with it especially for free.

The other option would be a punt on Wijnaldum / Ayew. But I know i'll regret that.

Looks good for this week. Nothing worth a -4, certainly.

I was thinking of strengthening that defence actually. It looks weak for upcoming fixtures. Want Wolls or Shawcross (said this for the past 2 months). Got Moreno in, but given how many blunders Mingolet makes and Klopp's backing for him nonetheless, I might give up Moreno for him.

Similar for Souare. Hardly a differential, Palace's clean sheets are few and far and he doesn't pose attackin threat. Looks doubtful in collecting CS' this weekend too.

Impossible to say. I don't think we can kid ourselves we'll come out of 26 28 unscathed. Some players take us by surprise and play both even when we don't expect it. Others who we think are nailed on for both might get a rest. Its often a bit of a lottery.

Just got an $88 parking fine from Brisbane City Council for parking in a completely unmarked area. Apparently you can't stay there for longer than 2 hours, even though this is not marked anywhere. GRRRR.

Brisbane is the worst for parking I've ever seen.

Parking in the city costs more for two hours, than minimum wage for a week.

Just sold Barkley and have some regrets already.
See if Aguero is back as that helps KDB.

Thanks! Good luck with yours too. Don't think it's a bad decision given Barkley sitting deeper now.

Eh, that's interesting. Aguero helps KdB but hinders Sterling.

Do you think Silva would help KdB or hinder his point potential?
