There’s much to consider this evening as we cast an eye over the upcoming round of matches. Manuel Pellegrini’s team sheet, Chelsea’s reaction to Jose Mourinho’s dismissal, Alexis Sanchez’ availability, West Brom’s defence at the Hawthorns and Harry Kane’s form are all on our Gameweek 17 menu.

Chelsea response to Jose’s departure….
Monday’s 2-1 loss at Leicester leaves the champions just one point clear of the drop zone, with Jose Mourinho finally paying the price for their toils earlier today. Chelsea have managed just two goals and as many clean sheets in their last five league outings but a home clash against Sunderland offers the chance to start afresh as Fantasy managers look for signs of recovery at both ends of the pitch. Can Eden Hazard shrug off his hip problem and return to Fantasy prominence and will the Blues backline show just why they racked up 17 clean sheets in last term’s title-winning campaign?

Pellegrini’s team sheet….
Last week’s decision to drop Aleksandar Kolarov and Kevin de Bruyne underlined the Chilean’s intentions to rotate over the festive period. With the fixtures arriving thick and fast over the next few weeks, the Chilean looks likely to continue with the same ploy after claiming their Gameweek 15 loss at Stoke was down to fatigue. Pellegrini’s line-up for Monday’s trip to the Emirates holds plenty of interest, then, as Fantasy managers look to see how the City boss plans to utilise Sergio Aguero’s minutes, in particular, over the upcoming run of matches.

Wenger’s decision on Sanchez..
Earlier today, the Gunners boss admitted the Chilean had a “slight chance” of making Monday’s encounter with City. Wenger also went on to concede that Sanchez “says he’s always ready”, with the former Barcelona man desperate to return for a match that could put Arsenal four points clear of their opponents. Bearing in mind that the Emirates outfit have won all three matches in Sanchez’ absence, will Wenger court caution with his star attacker or unleash him against a backline that’s yet to register a single clean sheet without Vincent Kompany?

United’s patched up backline….
A 2-1 loss away to Bournemouth highlighted the Red Devils’ threadbare defence as Louis van Gaal was forced to start the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Guillermo Varela and Paddy McNair last Saturday. This weekend’s visit of Norwich is the first of three home matches in four, though, and bearing in mind that United have conceded a single goal at Old Trafford this term, there’s optimism that they will continue to provide us a regular source of clean sheets in front of their own fans. If Chris Smalling remains sidelined, though, some may decide to bail on the back of their Dean Court showing.

Kane’s showing against the Saints….
The Spurs frontman continues to frustrate after failing to get amongst the goals in last week’s surprise home loss to Newcastle. After netting seven times in four appearances between Gameweek 10-13, Kane has now embarked on a three-match series of blanks and, worryingly for his owners, failed to produce a single touch in the box or close-range attempt against the Magpies. With Mauricio Pochettino hinting at a possible rest, we need to see Kane back in form against the Saints at St Mary’s to prevent a potential exodus.

Mane’s role up top….
Although he was unable to find the net away to Palace last weekend, the Southampton midfielder’s patient owners will be buoyed by his recent move up front. Handed a forward role as Ronald Koeman opted for a 3-5-2 against the Eagles, Mane’s advanced berth may well persuade some to hold for now. Indeed, although he’s failed to score in the last six, the Senegal international has fired 13 shots inside the box over that period – joint-top with Riyad Mahrez amongst midfielders.

Bolasie’s momentum against the Potters’ rearguard….
After netting just once in the first 11 Gameweeks, the Eagles midfielder is finally stringing together a series of consistent displays. Having teed up Yohan Cabaye for last week’s winner over Southampton, Bolasie now has three goals and an assist in five league appearances and is challenging the Frenchman as Palace’s go-to option. A trip to Stoke is far from straightforward but should Bolasie deliver again, the following four (bou, SWA, CHE, avl) could see that 5% ownership rise.

The Baggies backline at the Hawthorns ….
With eight home matches already played out, it’s somewhat surprising to see that West Brom have conceded more goals (14) in front of their own fans than any other side in the top-flight. Whilst Tony Pulis’ troops have been far more resilient on their travels, it’s a different story altogether at the Hawthorns, where they’ve been breached three times on four occasions already. A weekend visit from Bournemouth is the first of five home encounters (BOU, NEW, STO, AVL, SWA) in the next eight Gameweeks, though, and we’ll be looking for signs of resilience from Pulis’ rearguard before deciding to take the plunge.

Wijnaldum’s home comforts….
The Newcastle summer signing is the most transferred in midfielder this week ahead of a crucial run of fixtures. Having seen off Liverpool and Spurs in the last two, the Magpies now brace themselves for four home matches (AVL, EVE, MUN, WHU) in six, kicking off with the visit of Villa this Saturday evening. Wijnaldum has racked up seven goals and an assist at St James’ compared to just two assists on his travels and another big home display will surely kick start the bandwagon over Christmas, with his current ownership sitting at a mere 9%.

Imagine if Leicester do win the league 😀 That would be fantastic - what a story! Then into UCL next season :O

Really hope they get it right in January. Add a little bit more squad depth and keep all their current players.

I think they have a chance of top 4 if all those 3 stay fit till the end of the season, but an injury to any of them would be the end of their CL hopes I fear.

it's a nice thought, and of course it's theoretically possible. I just feel that they will drop off, maybe to as low as 5th or 6th. Similar starts from smaller teams have happened before, and they almost always tail off

Nice stat, but when you break it down, so far all the teams who have been in that spot at this point have been big teams, so it's not unexpected.

Honestly I found she had a close relationship with hazard, this much as obvious. I do know that after the Eva situation things never recovered. Not sure what else happened but there's definitely something there, could have been she was just Close friends with them but the collapse of Chelsea definitely had to do with this.

I'm planning to bring Kompany (when fit) in for Prodl, but i've got a spare FT and my defensive options aren't great this week

    Butland (Myhill)
    Toby, Souare, Cathcart (Moreno, PRODL)

Who's the best short term punt (until Kompany returns),

    A) Smalling (NOR, sto)
    B) Dawson (BOU, swa)
    C) Zouma (SUN, WAT)
    D) Janmaat (AVL, EVE)
    E) Other

    Butland (Howard)
    Toby/Moreno/Zouma (Francis/Bellerin)
    Ozil/KDB/Mahrez/Eriksen (Bolasie)
    Vardy/Lukaku/Kane

    2 FT, 0.1 ITB

Planning to do only 1 transfer and save the other:

    A] Howard --> Hennessey
    B] Eriksen --> Ramsey
    C] Bolasie --> Stanislas

Whichever i do from the above leaves me with the other two + Kane --> Aguero next week for a -4. Good plan?

    Thanks lads

Ok, next Chelsea manager situation. Hiddink and Juande are favourites, ok, but let's check for the others if for no other reason, for a better return. I take candidates from oddschecker.

Let's first count out several favourites:

Guardiola is no no, because he won't quit Bayern in middle of the season. He tries to win CL with them first, and Chelsea is going to hire somebody for the rest of the season.

Simeone, same thing as with Pep. There's no reason he would leave _now_ that he's odds on to win La Liga and can do better in CL with Atletico than at Chelsea. Why to take the interim post?

Rodgers. Really? Well, at least he's free.

Galtier. Well, he's earned a reputation in France by creating classy game with relatively weak resources, and while his project at St.Etienne is not finished, it doesn't look like they're going to finish it anyway and he has little reason other than loyalty not to jump to Chelski boat. Chelsea calling would probably be reason enough to justify breaking that loyalty, if he'd like to take the risk that Abramovich might give him the same treatment that he gave to Di Matteo. A side note that he is known to try several ways to beat PSG, and has always taken beating.

Not exactly a bookie's favourite, but I think Pearson, no matter how well he'd suit Chelsea, will be vetoed by Chelsea's already over-burdened PR people. Abramovich must understand that Chelsea's reputation couldn't take that hit.

Howe. Certainly better football. I think he would take that offer but see one little reason why Abramovich wouldn't ask him: their only ambition is CL now, and can he trust Howe there at all? I say he can't.

Moyes. Come on. After the feckfest at Sociedad, Moyes should be happy if he was offered a job in Scottish third tier.

Blanc. You've got to be kiddin me.

Di Matteo. Would he really do that again?

Benitez. The same as above, plus he's not free, yet.

Zidane. Loyalty to Real. No previous experience on top level.

Deschamps. They actually offer this? The home EC upcoming and he's amongst the favourites to win it. Why would he leave that boat now and take the hate of a whole nation?

Löw. Not home EC, but I'd be surprised if he left the NT just now.

Ranieri. Has chances to win the league, can't recall his time at Chelsea as good one and the fans hate him.

Martinez. His recent credentials are rather awful.

    Bilic. Already?

AVB. Yeah, right. As if ever again.

    Then REAL (surprise) possibilities:

Ancelotti seems set to follow Pep at Bayern, but there's always a chance that he'll go to save Chelsea while waiting, because Guardiola won't leave now. After all, he did not take a sabbatical, he got sacked (which is unbelievable, really). He knows PSG like the back of his hand, and is a familiar face at Chelsea already, one the players will definitely respect. It's certainly a possibility that he'd take that interim job to save Chelsea's season. To the detriment of all their rivals. At Betvictor, gives you back your stake 34 times.

Sabella. A World Cup finalist, that's some credentials for sure. And he's free. I see no reason why this couldn't happen. Betvictor, at 33.

Koeman. Doesn't look likely he'll do Europe next season with Southampton either, so why not to take a job at a bigger club and try to build there? Except for the chance of getting fired in the summer. But he can count that he'll have takers. Abramovich will know that Koeman can save Chelsea's PL season and every player knows him from there, plus from a pretty spectacular playing career, so would make sense. 66 at Sky, William hill only gives you 16 for this, so the Sky offer looks really worth the risk. I might put some money on this, but first I have to create an account at Sky.

De Boer. Has been doing solid job at Ajax, and is known to be looking for a change to bigger things and is in rumours every time a PL club changes managers. Would most certainly get another job in summer even if he failed to advance in CL with Chelsea, and has some European experience as a manager. Sky gives this at 66, again much more than anybody else.

Klinsmann. Why not, really? Only Coral offers this bet, however. At 33.

Emery. I think this is a reasonable chance. His season at Sevilla doesn't look quite as successful as the previous ones, tough CL group hurt his chances, but he's a top top manager who could stand a real chance to become a permanent manager. As a double recent EL champion, he is known to be trustworthy in big matches and in European football, and he might be willing to take the risk of losing his job at summer. Betvictor gives this at 33.

Poyet. A former Chelski man and a manager who can beat the relegation, at least. I think the Chelsea connection makes this a reasonable possibility, and Paddy offers it at 80.

Grant. Did it before. Why not now? At 50 with Sky and Coral, Paddy only gives 35.

Jardim. I'm quasi sure he'd take Chelsea offer without blinkin an eye, and with his relations and still a bit of reputation as well, Chelsea might just offer the job to him. I don't think anybody has anything to lose in this deal. Jardim is a proven manager, at least, in a tough situation in his current club, and would win a place in CL playoffs where he has created surprises with a weaker team. Sky gives your money back 101 times if this happens, Betvictor only 34.

    Outside chances:

Gullit. Chelsea ties speak for him, has charisma and despite poor last showings as a manager, he had a not awful record as a Chelsea player-manager back when Chelsea wasn't that big a club. Is free. 50 at Sky.

Laudrup. Does anybody have anything to lose with this? Known to be complicated person, but isn't everybody at Chelsea?

Terry. lol. I like the fact they offer this. Betvictor at 66.

Redknapp. Sky gives you your stake back 81 times if 'Arry comes to give the Chelsea lads a fecking run about. At least he has been a PL manager and a reasonably successful one as that.

Zola. Chelsea ties give him a chance, and although his track record looks pretty poor, you have to compare it to the level of the squads he managed. It doesn't look that bad then. And he's still young as a manager. Could he get Chelsea out of trouble? Sure. Could he win CL. Come fecking on! Still, Sky and Paddy give this at 100, and it could be worth a punt.

Shevtchenko. Another former Chelsea player, and there are rumours that Abramovich rates the lad as a future manager. Nobody offers this bet, I read the possibility from a paper and think it could be an outside chance worth a few euros, only because of the personal ties between him and Abramovich, which might just be the decisive factor in this case.

and that was already third: it's also ludicrous to say "who cares what odds they give on ANY of them" even if "80% of that list would be any where near consideration", because obviously somebody like Koeman or Ancelotti can be considered, and are valid betting options.

Your every single reply to my comment has been just moronic. If you have no interest in betting, I already said this is probably uninteresting and you'd do better just skipping my post.
