Watford play host to Liverpool in the first of two Sunday showdowns. The Hornets approach this match-up in fine form, having recorded three successive victories. The Reds, in contrast, go in search of their first win in three following a draw against West Bromich Albion and defeat to Newcastle United.

Watford took a while to find their attacking groove in the top tier – posting three blanks in the first four Gameweeks – but are now firing on all cylinders. Over the past four rounds of fixtures, Quique Sanchez Flores’ men ranked joint-second for shots on target (25) and joint-third for big chances (nine). They’ve complemented their attacking verve with defensive resolve, too, conceding the sixth-fewest big chances (five) and shots inside the box (27) across that stretch.

Notwithstanding a blank at St James’ Park, Liverpool’s attack came up trumps over the last four Gameweeks, placing joint-fourth for goals (seven), third for attempts (62), joint-third for big chances (nine) and second for key passes (51). Although they conceded five goals in those four league clashes, the Merseysiders ranked bottom for shots inside the box conceded (16) and second-bottom for big chances conceded (three), which bodes well for their trip to Vicarage Road.

      Form means everything.

Incredible how a serious fpl player who obviously spends a bit of time thinking about the game doesnt get this.

Things my ML leader (first season in FPL) does:

Get the highest scoring players in (Vardy, Lukaku, Ighalo, Mahrez, Ozil, etc) each Saturday morning
    Score lots of points
    Laugh to himself

    Things he doesn't do:

Worry about how he's going to get Sanchez and Aguero back into his team
Keep an eye on price changes
    Know about this website

I have a lower rank than almost all of you because of, among many mistakes, my failed attempts at being too clever or ahead of the curve, but I must say that we all need to own our differentials or moves against form for what they are: risks.

The more risks you pile up, the more chances one might hit but the much more likely you are to lose overall. The noise on this site drowns out the more basic stats like probability for the more exotic ones like regression to the mean sometimes to our detriment.

That being said I will likely take a -8 to bring in Aguero if he shows any sign of fitness tomorrow.

True, but I wonder if our perception of the curve changes as FPL and this site become more popular. I rode Michu and Fellaini to my best ever season my first year visiting this site often by getting them a few weeks after they exploded, not from the outset.

I've gravitated back towards the higher owned players such as Ozil, KDB, Vardy, Mahrez, Lukaku, Kolarov and Toby as my core

Players such as Willian and Aguero are a bit maverick; I'm stuck with for now but they might find form

      1. tm245
        • 14 Years

That solid core allows for the maverick move or two, though. Could work out very well.

Another gameweek , another one where the same players have scored again

Vardy , Mahrez , Lukaku , Ighalo ....ozil still to come

    Just Butland failed

Get them in early and stick with them , not a season for Mavericks off differentials
