I always liked having him in my team, but he is somehow bad luck to me as he always ends up either getting injured or benched. Now that he is playing regularly, can recommend him and think will end up getting more points than Ramsey in the long run.

10 - GiroudFor those who are chasing significant leads in MLs (it seems there is a significant amount of FPL vets/FFS regulars in this category), Is it really the best tactic to wait for DGWs before playing the second wildcard? I am bad at expressing myself so hopefully this makes sense...
League leaders are very likely to wait for the same window to play wildcards and chips, and I think its safe to say they will be gunning for the same group of players. DGWs probably won't happen til GW28 onwards if any. Will it be too late to play catch up if the 2nd is played when everyone else plays it?
Or is it time to play it early, even now perhaps? It could be a great opportunity to reshuffle funds, double and even triple up on solid defences to start making 6-10 points on rivals for every clean sheet from say, TOT/CRY/STO/WBA. This, of course, is against 'FFS Philosophy' as many prefer to spread their eggs. But do we have a choice? Attacks seem to be converging on a core 5/6 players with 1 or 2 differentials - not good enough.
Is playing the wildcard early and going for an 'all-in' defense earlier rather than later a viable strategy? Start clawing back the lead bit by bit rather than hoping for explosive differentials come later in the season?I fall in this category of veterans that are starting to "panic". Chasing a lead of 60pts with half the season gone. Starting to change captains on Saturday mornings(Damn you Lukaku!) ending up on 11pts less... 🙁

with not even 2 GW comete i hav cut down lead on my main rival from 45 to 14pts with trusted Kane and KDB picks....if everythin works out, I will be above him after GW 20 too!the 50/50 fails are getting to me alright. Same story every week.
Every ML is different. I have a big problem since my ML leader owns the main players I also own:
Kane/Mahrez/Ozil/KdB/Lukaku/Vardy/Butland.
Only difference is at the back, which doesn't leave much room to make any gains. Bellerin/Dier/Myhill/Alli have scored him jammy points as well.

It feels worse than that season. Well that season had Ramsey Yaya and permacap Suarez. This season we have 6 suarezes as someone pointed out a few pages ago.
Stick to what you know and that is going for reliable options and playin WC before a DGW...fpl is finally normalizing with traditional candidates performing again...within 2 days I was able to jump to 250k from 650k and I hav no reason to doubt it will continue as the madness has little but settled
It's all about picking the right captains as well. Perhaps the age old "punt with players not captains" should be applied more rigorously

Last season all i did was go with top 10k template upto GW 20-33 with a single punt and built rank of 9k and them final 5Gws wildcarded and punted like crazy to finish at 1.4k...so for now no need to overthink and get cheeky...like this week many captained Rambo over Ozil...I know he has been good, but in such times even owning him is a differential let alone captaining!followed the same pattern as you last season to a 1k finish - and that's what worries me. I can see the leaders playing the same way I did last season and now I understand their frustrations....but amplified this season somehow because of the unpredictability.
Earlier seasons used to have only 1 Wild Cards, I believe the reason for introducing another one halfway through is to accommodate for changes in personnel due to January Transfer Window. So personally I think ideal time will be to use it once all new transfers have settled in like beginning of Feb, which still gives 3 months to make a difference
Its a good argument you have. My counter is be patient. Good players are good players and they will start to perform in no time. There will be a time when good differential attackers will show up. I'm currently contemplating on investing in Herrera/Mata/Martial for the next couple of United fixtures. They could have had 5 last night.

Depends on your team, how many changes would you make from the current one with a WC?
Pick the players you think will score the most points, if you believe a WC now altering your team will yield more points than using it later to maximise DGW players, then go for it.
You could WC now if your desired team is different enough from your current one and have a plan to bring players in for their DGWs- then I don't see why not. I personally think it's best to wait as the DGWs are still unknown to us and a WC in hand can help combat that uncertainty.

i think it really depends on your current team and how different it is from your rivals' teams. if you think you can get a whole lot more points over the next 4-5 weeks by making 5+ transfers then i think it's a good idea to wildcard.
it's not necessary to save a wildcard for a DGW. you can normally prepare ahead of time for a DGW using FTs.Would it be too early building a wc team based around chasing rivals ? That would be my primary concern. Boom or bust for sure.
i don't think so. you need to wildcard when your team needs a lot of structural change. as i mention in a comment above, you might like to use your DGWs to burn your chips (rather than a wildcard).

My poor cup opponent. Ranked top 1k. Been killing it with captain picks every week until this week. Had Kane last week, mahrez, week before, and ozil the two weeks before those, but this week left it on Kane and was brutally punished by my C on Ozil. Truly feel a bit bad for the guy he must be fuming haha.
Kane wasn't a bad shout given the form he's in. My gut feeling was Ozil and then changed to Mahrez. Luckily, I went back to Ozil and trusted my gut.

I ask this because a lot of folk are waiting for the first DGW to use their Wildcard. However, if a strong attacking club, such as City, features in that DGW wouldn't we want to use our Triple Captain Chip at that time?
I'm more inclined to use the Wildcard when fixtures turn so that I can myself up for the final run of games.
