Would you get Aguero in this lot and how?

    Butland
    Walker, Bellerin, Wollscheid
    KDB, Barkley, Mahrez, Özil
    Giroud, Kane, Lukaku

subs: Hennessey --- Alli, Simpson, Moreno --- 2 FT, 3.9 ITB

    A) Barkley & Lukaku -> Arnautovic & Aguero
    B) Alli & Lukaku -> Gosling & Aguero
    C) Moreno & Lukaku -> Ward & Aguero

Well that's a possibility too. Nevertheless would like to keep Giroud for Newcastle match. Thoughts about Barkley -> Arnie and save FT this week (go without Kun)?

Actually tempted to get Courtois instead at this stage but the saves won't be as high going forward. Perhaps more clean sheets though

Anyone here ever trailed by 120 points in their ML at this stage of the season and overturned it? What are the proven strategies in successfully achieving this?

Getting a player they can't afford without major changes to their team... Aguero

I'm behind 58 points and he can't get him in easily

Just keep plugging. After today we have a solid gameweeks to focus on in early January. Plenty of points to be had, captain options galore

Captain picks let me down, which I'm sure is the case for many good FPL managers here. Luck has to change at some point, seems everything my rival does turns to gold!

Earlier in the season it took me 6 gameweeks to get from 949k to 1k. I'm sure there's going to be even more opportunities to gain ground once double gameweeks come around and people start using their triple cap, bench boost, etc.

Proven strategies probably aren't a thing as every season is different, especially this one.

You will need differentials eventually probably but there's still half a season left,. don't go crazy just yet. Try and nail those captains.

Still have double game weeks and chips to come. Plenty of time

I've been adding differentials into my team for several weeks which haven't paid off. My target is to claw back 15pts each week from next GW. Seems realistic but difficult!

Will be difficult but don't give up. If you pull it off it will feel great.

Differentials are tough right now, so many players are consistent and it's hard to break. You need to be brave and keep an eye out. Players like Lanzini and Payet coming back soon could help.

Maybe Hazard getting his mojo back, Sanchez returning.

Fair points Andy. My biggest weakness this season has been pulling the plug of poor performing players too early this season, then they perform. Could name over 10 players I dropped after 2 blanks in a row who have gone on to score big following weeks.

Patience is good FPL management IMO.

Ten points a week for 12 weeks. You've got 19 weeks to go. A good differential captain most weeks will help but in this season where it's so hard to predict that's not always an option. And him doing badly would help too.

    Butland
    Bellerin, Moreno, Evans
    Barkley, Mahrez, Ozil, KDB
    Giroud, Kun, Lukaku

    Hennessey, Ward, Simpson, Fletcher

0.7m IT. Thinking Payet for Barks once fit, and Giroud to Kane after the Geordies.

Going to Europe for my honey moon in the middle of September and I'll be doing a short stop off at Liverpool to visit Anfield.
Would it be possible for me at all to book tickets for a game or just don't bother? I hear it's quite hard.

Of course there is the chance there won't be a game at Anfield at the same time I'm there, but I'll also be in London so I'm sure at least one game will be available.

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Ward Dawson Moreno (Kolarov Toby)
    Mahrez Özil Ramsey KDB (Ayew)
    Vardy Lukaku Kane 1.0

Have 2FT and only wanna use one:
    A. McCarthy > Rudd
    pros: second playing keeper;
cons: boring move/ will most likely choose the wrong one from time to time

    B. Ayew > Arnie
pros: Arnie on fire/ more or less fixture proof imo
    cons: massive benching head aches

    C. Ayew > Stansilas/King
pros: money itb/ no benching headaches
    cons: boring

Ighalo, Mahrez and Arnatovic are not casual picks.
Ramsey,Yaya Toure and Hazard are casual picks.
Maybe I misunderstood the word casual and it means something different to people who take a casual interest in fpl or people who don't actually watch the games and judge their teams on the basis of how much they cost or how they did in previous years.
If you did watch the games you would see first set of players in fantastic form and want to get them in your team.
Pet peeve of mine on this site is people blaming the fact that good players that they have misjudged are performing every week and therefore it can only be luck of "casual" players.

      1. oghash
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

+100000 a casual player by default will keep players too long, miss deadlines and not take such an interest in the game.

A casual is not just someone who is doing better than you. In fact you'd also be inclined to say a better description of a casual is a person that goes on a website, posts their team every week and can't make a decision without passing the responsibility on. Therefore casually playing as not putting too much thought into it and letting others do the thinking.

        1. Knamloc
          • 10 Years

I wouldn't call anyone on this site a casual even if they do take too much credence in posters on here regarding their team.

I just hate the word casual tbh, it's a cheap way to act superior to players that are doing better than you.

Aye. Think in this context though "casual" means "looks at who scored well last week, or who's the top scorers overall in each position, and gets them in". Which often doesn't work, but this season has reaped rewards.

So...I have Walcott and Ramsey...watched Walcott miss chances while Ramsey barely got forward.

Last night's price rise means need a hit to get Ozil.

Would you take a hit or wait until after Newcastle?

Re-posting this at a more lively hour:

Has anyone done a fixture analysis for the second half of the season. First half of the season we had Everton's plum run of fixtures from GW11 (if I recall correctly).

I ask this because a lot of folk are waiting for the first DGW to use their Wildcard. However, if a strong attacking club, such as City (enter the Kun), features in that DGW wouldn't we want to use our Triple Captain Chip at that time?

I'm more inclined to use the Wildcard when fixtures turn so that I can set myself up for the final run of games.

Mahrez, Ozil, Aguero and Lukaku owner

I'm the same. He had so many chances. Should have scored at least three. I'll captain him again I'm thinking. But Ozil is amazing

Agreed with Ozil, if Walcott wasn't so wasteful he and Ozil could have had about 50 points between them

Although I can work from home it's only supposed to be used for emergencies so rather than take the mick I've come in today. Working up until New Years Eve then have New Years day off which is good.

Sucks to be back in work but at least I don't hate the job 🙂

Still have to fly out in a couple days to visit my future in-laws

Certainly eaten and drank too much but I guess that's pretty normal for Xmas! Break was good, fell nicely with the weekend straight after xmas.

Spent time with family and wasn't glued to my consoles so that's a good thing 🙂

    Hennessy/gomes

Whom would you get? I think Cresswell if fit.

    Ward
    Wollscheid
    Bellerin
    Moreno.

    Any recommendations for this shambles:

    Myhill McCarthy

    Moreno Kolarov Ake Cresswell Simpson

    Mahrez KDB Deulofeu Ramsey Walcott

    Vardy Lukaku Aguero

Obvious one is Ramsey/Walcott -> Ozil but would need to free up funds elsewhere for that. Any other advice is welcome.
