We delve into the Gameweek 20 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s upturn in attacking potential arrives under analysis, whilst we also cast an eye over midfielders from Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal and Newcastle, before assessing Liverpool and Leicester’s threat in the final third.
Anyone slightly resistant towards selling Moreno considering that there could be a Liverpool DGW in only 4 or so GWs time?
Nope, easy to get him in 😉
No. Hes pretty useless anyway and so are pool
DGWs change things though
9 points from last 12 and 3 clean sheets. very useless....
Not selling. People on here just seem to have lot against Liverpool players in general. I wouldn't play him for the next two so better have good cover.
Exactly, wasn't so long ago he got back to back cleanies and now everyone thinks hes completely worthless all of a sudden
If he finally adds an assist to the rare CS most will be raving about him again
rare? quite the opposite.
About 3 in last 12 games I think
Suffering migs owner5 from 19 at quick glance
4 from 20 games for him
going on recent form though 3/4 (including tonight's game) is good esp against the opposition and with all the injuries.
That's true but I would say they don't look like they can be trusted to get CS when expected , more so with ever changing defence
Also think the last time they had three CS in close proximity they went dozen without one, and that was under the talent of Rodgers
Quite cheap also and has still that attacking threat I expect Liverpool to improve in the coming weeks. They also kept a clean sheet today.
He's high up the pitch, but hardly a threat.
He is a threat. Benteke is the one who isn't.
I disagree. He can't cross to save his life. Benteke isn't exactly setting the world alight, but the crosses he has to deal with are absolutely horrendous. Smith had more good crosses in his few minutes than Moreno has had in several games.
he is a threat, gets good balls in just Tekkers isn't up to it at the moment. Once Danny Boy is back he could get attacking returns.
We surely can't be watching the same games then, I have a complete opposite view of his crossing ability.
He's a keeper for me. 5m is about right for a Liverpool defender, and he's possibly the most attacking defender in the league after Kolorov.
Cheap option, nailed, quite attacking, could get a cs, definitely will have a dgw.
He's a must keep IMO.No
Pool will put together a great run eventually. I'm holding.
Really tempted by Rooney. Kane to Rooney might be too risky though.
Mental to sell Kane. My captain for the next two games, can't fathom why anyone would want to sell him before LEI, SUN.
Kane hasn't been good lately plus I don't think those fixtures are as good as they're made to look.
Was 1cm from getting 8/9 points in his last game, got 7 before that and hit a brace in the one before that. No rush to get rid.
His stats are just not as impressive as some other forwards but maybe that was the case last year as well.
I think stats are overrated by many on here, as long as he's scoring decent points most weeks its very hard to justify selling him IMO
You're probably right as he is such a good finisher. Would like him to spent more time in the box as that is where most of the goals are scored from.
Agreed. Briefly considered selling Kane for Kun but now I've decided it's either Vardy or Lukaku that gets the chop (selling the latter also entails a lot of hesitation).
Who are your other strikers Mahrez?Had Kane, Ighalo and Lukaku for about 2 months now, serving me pretty well, and feel no inclination to drop any of them in a hurry. Only one I'd drop for Kun is Kane but I see Kane matching him over the next 5.
Yeah, I agree, Vardy is the standout option to sell for Kun out of your strikersI have Vardy Lukaka and Ighalo - was thinking of getting Kane in for Vardy, though Costa is flirting with hitting some form, and If Kun could prove his fitness and find a bit of form I could easily afford him too. Think Kane just tops my choices though.
Yeah, Kane and Kun are the standout ones, I think Costa's lack of baps and tendency to get yellows can hinder his scoring potential quite badly, don't like him in FPL really.
Kun or Kane is so tough, I guess it comes down to what you'd do with the extra moneyUpgrade Payet to Sanchez would pretty much be the only move I would need the cash for. I have more money than I know what to do with tbh!
I have the same forwards as you and will probably keep also even with those red devil temptations.
Lukaku best of the three imo.
He suffers without Dembele. Alli isn't a great passer and Kane drops deep out of position in order to collect the ball, taking him out of prime goalscoring positions.
As a United fan, best to be sure that this is a purposeful change by LVG in tactics and not simply a one-off or two based on backlash on style following a string of losses and draws.
How does this look for next week?
Fabianski
Toby Azpi Wolly
Payet Ali KDB Ozil
Aguero Costa Ighalo
Mahrez Cresswell Smith?I wouldn't feel confident benching cresswell
Someone write something hot topicy, BTC, Balders and Jonty can't have them all
Writing something hot topicy is doable, getting it hulked if you aren't at least a member seems very rare.
Got an example?
this deserves a hulk 😉
Pew Pew
What do you want me to write about? Ah wait.
Well you can write something, send it to me and I'll copy and paste it
Would you change the bench or starting line up of my defence? Put in Bellerin instead of Wolly perhaps?
DDG (new)
Dann (avl) Wolly (NOR) Toby (LEI)
Bench: Hennessey (avl) Bellerin (liv) Simpson (tot)
CheersPredicted points each PL team will get from now until the end of the season (calculated by taking each team's current points away from their current total season points spread market rounded mid-point):
Man C 38
Arsenal 36
Chelsea 34
Liverpool 32
Man U 31
Spurs 31
Everton 26
Southampton 26
Leicester 24
Palace 23
Stoke 22
Watford 22
Bournemouth 21
Swansea 21
West Ham 21
Norwich 19
Newcastle 18
Villa 17
West Brom 17
Sunderland 16I don't get it?
Liverpool 32 points
Villa 17 points
Erm...What's the problem? seems reasonable, bit high for Villa on current form but well do-able.
High on Liverpool too IMO, optimistic on Klopp.
Not sure - 30 points from their first 20 games which includes when they were awful under BR, so 32 from their next 18 doesn't seem too crazy. "Price" probably inflated a little by Liverpool fans bias-betting as well
clearly not crazy, but not where the betting line should be. What evidence is there that they have actually improved under Klopp apart from Mangala having an awful game? Add in injuries are piling up and well its about a win higher than it should be. Also spurs are too low.
I hate to be Ruth but Bookies want to make money not predict results
Don't worry, you're as far away from being as is probably possible. 🙂
*missed Ruth after being*
I got it 🙂
Oh ye, need that above sentence to be 5 paragraphs
😆
true, its why im projected 40% up on my end of season bets right now 😉
I just think this is worth chucking into the discussion here on FFS before people start over-valuing Liverpool assets.I agree, mainly because I hate when people overhype us and then the same people laugh at us, very frustrating
the proof is in the way the team plays and the fact Klopp has tactics and plans. Of course it won't work all the time as we saw against WH and Watford, but after the WH game you could see Klopp's outrage at the players not doing what he had wanted them to.
they are definitely playing with more of a purpose than under BR and individual performances have improved.
don't even get me stared on the stats for pressing, they are off the charts.
I don't think you can say the 4-1 win over City was due to Mangala having a poor game, that's really unfair and untrue.
I do agree that Klopp is far from perfect, as our Pool but I do think we have improved and I do see gameplans and reasons for doing what we do, i.e huge amounts of off the ball pressing, and zonal pressing.
A lot of our issues have come from poor dealings with crosses and lack of goals which should hopefully improve over time as Klopp begins to shape the team more and gets some players he wants. No doubting the pressing, but its not exactly leading to anything better in attack is it? big chances & Shots in the box are still dawdling along.
I agree with Balders, isn't klopps record worse than rodgers was? He seems to have them running more, and they had a bit of a new manager bounce until december, but now look more average.
All those tough away fixtures in the first half helps
You've not exactly done anything noteworthy in the easy home fixtures though. yet to win by more than a goal at home.
2 Bournemouth W1-0
4 West Ham United L0-3
6 Norwich City D1-1
7 Aston Villa W3-2
10 Southampton D1-1
12 Crystal Palace L1-2
14 Swansea City W1-0
16 West Bromwich Albion D2-2
18 Leicester City W1-0But IF we get going we don't have any tough away fixtures to kill form
yes but that IF is overstated looking at the betting line IMO. Also what's to stop the tough home fixtures killing form?
Again this is the bookies thinking not mine
well tonight is a prime example of what Klopp can do that BR couldn't. he got his team to do what they should have done at WH, and from his reaction after WH game it was clear his gameplan was not implanted the way he wanted.
against Stoke earlier Pool stopped crosses coming in and closed down crosses very fast and pushed Stoke central, something that should have happened against WH. The two goals were basic back post crosses that could have been easily dealt with.
Pool are showing signs of progression and learning, but under BR that didn't happen, his tactics were random. Klopp's aren't, and in time form will come.Shhh, I don't like hyping us up
You make good points but keep it quiet
Poole are better away than at home though, so I wouldn't say thats a good thing
So, Arsenal is the new champion one point ahead of City and Spurs 5 points clear above Liverpool for the 4th place?
No,
Arsenal
City
Spurs
United/Leicester(same points)
PoolFinal predicted top 7 by the spread-betting website (with final predicted points) is:
Arsenal 78
Man C 77
Spurs 67
Leicester 64
Man U 64
Liverpool 62
Chelsea 57City/Arsenal top 2 for sure
Spurs prob 3rd
Pool/Leicester/Utd battle it for 4th
Chelsea wont get Europe
Repost as kinda bottomed/blanked...
Is this Antonio chap for West Ham nailed on, and has he been playing well?I think he replaced Moses. Hard to drop him now.
Nice, thanks 🙂
Looks nailed, for now. I wouldn't back on it medium/long term.
Been playing very well. Definitely nailed in the short term.
Is Alli is a genuine replacement for Mahrez
Would be 4th MidfielderGet both. Selling Mahrez is tantamount to committing FPL suicide.
My problem is I don't think I could ever bench Mahrez
Selling him is like benching him every week.
So might aswell be rid
Really believe he will tail off badlyBench him then, then if it works out consider selling. But I'd be very cautious about selling, esp if you'd be losing around a million of value if you'd have to bring him back.
If he'd have hit the penalty better in the last game, he would have scored 11 points and you wouldnt even be considering selling him.Wise words
If you think that and you find a good differential then you get free points in that position where everyone else gets Mahrez's points.
It's just picking that player 🙂
Apart from when he scores back double figure hauls and you get destroyed by pretty much every other person still playing the game.
That's the real risk.
Who do you think will be the top 4 mids from now until seasons end?
Starting at nil?
Starting this GW at 0.
Sanchez, De Bruyne, Özil, and Mahrez.
Selling Mahrez doesn't work then 🙂
No, not for me.
Maybe people jump ship and he's becomes a bit less top 10k template who knows.Probably an injury is the only way he really decreases.
TM, I've been trying to re-post something from earlier but keeps cutting off the final paragraphs. Any reason as to why?
Using greater or less than signs?
Well a 😯 smiley follows the cutoff point, maybe that it's? Don't have any greater than or less than signs.
Don't know. Lose the smiley perhaps.
Alright, thanks for the help, TM 🙂
Too many removals 😡
Sorry about that 🙁
Seems it's every week. At least you put in the effort.
Yeah, I'll start posting it on Word to see if there's a formatting issue from now on. Thanks again, TM.
No problem.
Sanchez, KDB and Payet
Unsure on the 4thIf you can find 4/5 better than Mahrez then sell him. If you sold 3 GWs ago and got Arnie or similar in his spot, you would have made lots of ground.
Nobody would have sold him 3 weeks ago. One more blank and there will be an exodus
Villa around the corner.
Ozil, payet, oscar/willian, mahrez/alli, KDB/Yaya
Ozil, KDB, Sanchez and Payet
1.Mahrez/Ozil
3.KDB
4.PayetYaya, KdB, Sanchez &.......Eriksen??
Eriksen???
Yeah I know, massively underachieving.
The thinking being this is Spurs big chance to have a go at securing top 4 or better & they'll need Eriksen performing to do that, call it a leftfield punt. 🙂I'm not sure he has that points potential whilst playing left field 😉
Pfttt.:)
I don't think so.
He is a genuine 4th mid but no Mahrez replacement. KDB, Ozil, Mahrez are essential IMO but apart from those three I can't see anyone else that Alli can't challenge for the 4th spot.
Sanchez back soon.
Back soon but will need to prove himself first. I'm one of his biggest fans and owned him for the whole season until his injury. However, until he starts getting some consistent returns he won't be in my midfield. Anyway, it is likely Sanchez would challenge KDB's spot and not Alli's potential 4th midfield spot.
Doesn't need to prove himself to me.
Consider him to be like Aguero, once fit he's in my teamI used to be like that with Sanchez but this time will wait for one/two returns before I buy him. Of course he is a great player but at the same time I would be confident my own current players could also deliver.
As far as Aguero is concerned I'm with you.I will likely buy Sanchez before Chelsea at home.
Why the KDB rave? I don't think he is anywhere near essential
Complete quality player
Ticks along and also capable of a haulAgreed. But he is very explosive. I'd say he's a 180 - 200 player, which let's face it is very good.
if you bench him away and have say someone like Alli as your'e 5th mid you would be doing very well from that.
I For me he is explosive amd capable of great returns. I think by the end of the season he will be up there with the highest scoring minds. Of course you could question his consistency but I think those who remain faithful with him will get the most out of him. I don't expect him to get double figures each week, but I keep him because I know he can do it anytime.
*mids not minds.
Debuchy to leave Arsenal confirmed?
Seems WBA are interested
Injury apart, if he will play regular football there looks a great option @5.1m
But he's not a centre back?
It's a loan anyway.
He'll probably play right mid
Who to Captain?
A) Willian
B) Kun
C) Ozil
D) Alli
PLEASE HELP!I'm going for Kun
Close to 800 qualified in LMS 😀
799?
796, good to see you involved 🙂
Did I survive
Planned on dramatic late entry to scare everyoneBeen going longer than three years has it not?
Your site says this but I thought I was in it 4 years ago3 years I think.
Ran other competitions but not LMS.
All good. OR means little as long as you pass the score. The longer you stay in now, the better your rank has to get.
Alderweireld still worth the premium price tag, considering his attacking returns and bonus points? Or just go with Walker?
Alder if you can. Everton game is a great guide to why.
And WBA.
Did he gets baps there too?
Got 1. But perfect example of how he can still grab open play assists, and great goal threat at set pieces too.
I have almost always looked into the cheaper route into buying defenders. For example with Tottenham rather than buying Toby I would normally buy perhaps a Walker or Dier. However, now I think I'm realizing that it really is worth shipping out a but more on defenders, as they often justify their price tag. I mean the gap between Toby and the next Spurs defender, even though they may have played in the same amount of games and got the same amount of clean sheets, is fairly big. So yeh, I'd do it, I am I think anyway.
On the Ozil will/won't reach 200 points argument. he's got to be injured or really crap to _not_ break 200 points.
He's already on 131 points so only needs 69 points from 18 games or 3.8 ppg. That's not hard at all. 84 players have a ppg of 3.8 or better so far this season. I would comfortably back Ozil to be in the top 84 ppgs over the second half of the season. If he misses 3 games in a short lay-off it changes to 4.6 ppg, a ppg which 31 players scored over the first half of the season.
IMO the conversation needs to be shifted to will he score over/under 230 points this year to examine whether he's worth keeping in our teams.Pretty much all players start on 0 now for 18 GWs. Pick the one you think will clean up.
yep, but I've seen the 200 point argument chucked around 3/4 times in the last day or so which is just, well, a rubbish one.
Quite a few on the way to breaking 200.
think Alli will break 200 TM?
No
havent been on in yonks or watched a game in a while.. turned into a full casual thanks to the new kid. hows this team looking?
butland
ivanovic koscielny moreno dier nyom
oscar ozil silva alli stanislas
aguero(c) lukaku kaneMissing the best FPL player in the game, but apart from that, its okay I guess
mahrez? yeah i guess it was a silly decision to get rid of vardy and mahrez but i did so only as a differential to catchup to my mates. was considering giving up once he got that hatrick!
Yeah I reckon Mahrez is as close as it gets to essential, but if you're not gonna have him in your team at any time, it may as well be for Spurs away.
Apart from that, I really like it, not sure that Stanislas is nailed though
Anybody considering siggy?? Stats are good, fixture v good.
Also anyone selling mahrez? Fixtures v bad. Iv already sold Vardy for kun.Vardy to Kun is fine, but I wouldn't lose Mahrez.
So with my only goalkeeper in big danger,again...
What gk to get for next month or so
Need to be nailed on,have ok fixtures
And be less than 5mil
???I like heurelho gomes
Or fabianski
Thanks man
Privably will go with Fab cause I already have Nyom=}
I think it's a solid enough choice, Swansea in great defensive form and just look at the fixtures, if you're looking for a sub 5m keeper to play every week, he's your manYeah he is a nice option
Thanks again
Hennessey. Other than him, Fabianksi or Schmeichel maybe?
Is Hennesy nailed on?
Yes
Gomes
Thanks guys
unrelated to fpl.... anyone a fan of the game fallout 4? seems like it would be a huge investment of time.
it is, and its worth it.
I just finished The Last of Us and it is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWESOME
one of the best games I've ever played, the whole package..graphics/gameplay/story/music
Given that Pool are down to 3rd strings at the back, I thought I'd try to see how I could take advantage with Arsenal attacking assets, while still sticking to the plan of Giroud->Kun this week. SO, how's this for a wild set of transfers?. Can do for -4
Giroud, Kane, Arny ->Aguero, Sanchez, Ighalo
But, Hen
Bell, Dann, G John, Moreno, SImpson
KDB, Ozil, Sanchezs, Mahrez, Ali
Aguero, Lukaku, Ighalo
0.8ITBBold definitely though I would advise against it. Calm down on Sanchez ATM. Arsenal won't hammer pool IMO, Klopp will have a trick up his sleeve. Giroud > Aguero affordable?
Arnie has Norwich at home......
would not loose Kane
Giroud could be better than Sanchez for next game anyway
I think all 3 of those moves are badYeah, your right, just playing around. 🙂 Yeah, Giroud->Aguero will be the transfer and I'll save the other
Not sure whether to prioritise Alli or Payet this week...
Alli ownership is beginning to concern me slightly.. 13.2 and rising fast
I'm waiting to see what sort of form Payet is able to produce when he's back.
Your going to miss out on a lods of points this week then 🙂 !
Alli. Payet has got an away game, has no form and has been out for 3 months - not even properly match fit yet.
All valid points. Thanks everyone.
he did look sharp against Pool but that's a hard game to judge him on because he didn't play many minutes and Pool were in shambles defensively, especially when dealing with crosses.
Away to Bournemouth.
Finally got fibre in my area, only few weeks till hooked up and get rid of this basic broadband.
Typed by John Terry's dog 1pm GMTNice.
Fibreuppercut
Better option for rest of season
Kun, Kane, Ali, arny
Or
Kun, ighalo, Sanchez, stanislastoo early to tell with Sanchez not playing yet but at the moment A is much better.
Rest of season, pretty sure you'll change it up. If you could slightly upgrade Arny soon, A definitely.
first one
Kun Kane Sanchez Stanislas
Could do that too but would
Mean no More kdb
A for sure.
Thanks heaps for the replies guys. I feel I might upgrade ighalo to kun after next week or soon, and if one of kaku, Kane, Aguero droop off can always get ighalo back in. Thanks.
Midnight question:
Would you do Vardy/Mane/Bertrand -> Aguero/Alli/Williams for -4?Not tonight 🙂
Let Aguero play 1st.Better get Costa and Alli this week and when Aguero hits optimal form then swap him with Diego
Tottenham deserve to play CL next season.
I'm afraid the only chance for Liverpool this year to get that CL slot is through Europa League Trophy :/ And then the 4th in PL is out, right?Spurs will probably get 3rd imo
Poor Leicester to miss out at 4th 😉 Liverpool won't win Europa anyway
Leicester won't finish in top 5 imo.. 6/7th place more realistic.
Thanks
Rangel nailed for the next couple?
Think so, wouldn't bet on it.
Been very busy with revision (exams next week) what are the moves people are making so I've been inactive. Who are the players people are bringing in?
Dele Alli and Sergio Aguero in.
Aaron Ramsey and Jamie Vardy out.Vardy -> Aguero
Ramsey / barkley -> Alli / PayetSame as me pretty much! Though I'm waiting on Payet and prioritising Alli this week.
Transfered Vardy out 3 gws ago and looking to bring Alli in as well
Alli Payet Kun in
Ramsey Coutinho Vardy outLiking those transfers!
Good luck
Save probablyThanks.
No problem, what you studying?
Thanks guys. My question made no sense. 😆
Which one long term, just planning?
A) kdb and iggy
B) Oscar and Kane
ThanksA), imo
Thanks jazz, Its to fit Sanchez in, will wait three weeks though after Spurs good fixtures
Yep 🙂
Right now, if you could choose 1 of Payet or Sanchez for the rest of the season - who would it be?
Payet
Payet, Sanchez needs no Giroud and Walcott playing to do well.
Fair point.
Payet no doubt
Long term Sanchez easily, I think he will be class on his return, but for next 3 payet as gunners fixtures look pretty poor and Sanchez slightly behind fitness wise
Only if Walcott is playing instead of Giroud.
Sanchez doesn't play well with Giroud.
A) silva Kane
B) Payet agueroB by quite a margin...
Agree with jazz b easily
Who do you bench for next game week in defence? will be playing 3
Sagna, Toby, Wollschield, (Bellerin, Moreno)
Leaning towards the 3 to left of brackets, as they are all home games - or should bellerin come in for someone??Ah, tough bunch eh. Think it's a Sagna v Bellerin decision for you. I'd probably opt for Bellerin. Tomorrows game should give you an insight of Everton v City.
Thats kinda what i'm thinking, Wolly is nailed on, and toby should be good against vardy-less leicester at home. Leaves Sagna or Bellerin. Life was so much easier back in the years where i had a junk bench!
Are other belerin owners like myself selling this gw?
And anyone keeping vardy just for the villa game? Why ship Bellerin? Decent enough fixtures coming up.
Nah, ive had him in since 5.5, so be too much to lose, woudnt get him back in, and I need arsenal cover, they will be pushing on for the title this half the season, and are looking solid (southampton aside!)
