We delve into the Gameweek 20 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s upturn in attacking potential arrives under analysis, whilst we also cast an eye over midfielders from Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal and Newcastle, before assessing Liverpool and Leicester’s threat in the final third.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If we take it that Guardiola is going to Man City in the summer in light of his recent comments, How does Pelegrini feel?
If it is true it seems very disrespectful and could easily disjoint City's second half of the season, Why would Pelle care and it could filter through to the players, I'm aUnited fan and I like Pelle - I think he's a gentleman in today's game, and deserves a lot more respect than this.

I think so too if your balanced and fair toward Pelle.
The modern game is tough and expectations are huge, at the end of the day there are only so many trophies on offer and there are lots of big fish in that small pond.

Jaysus? The man is clearly a good manager? His age is irrelevant ? I'm a united fan and HVT is right I have great respect for Pellegrini. Outside of a managerial sense I agree with HVT again, the guy is a gent also.

I think he's a pro, don't think it will effect him

Also he's getting on a bit might be enjoying less pressure (as he knows he is leaving) before retiring

Id like to think he will end up at United but I fear the worst, United have been slipping as a powerhouse for years, SAF covered up the cracks so well.
Pep will either view it as a challenge to reinvigorate the club or a disaster waiting to happen, and maybe even a poison chalice.
City on the other hand have endless funds and ready made talent in the club with 5/6 players in, it may seem the path of least resistance for pep,
Either way I'm unsure as I'm not fully sure how his mind works.

Eh I think in Fergie's last few years we just were prioritizing servicing the debt. With the sponsorships Woodward has built up since then we are rolling in it while comfortably making payments. We won the league less than 3 years ago, we're literally too big to fail.

I hope your right but I still don't think United can compete with City financially, if they are not careful the gap will continue to widen.

Yea agree, he seems a good pro to me and I must say I like the guy for who he is and the way he handles himself, granted maybe City feel he has underachieved trophies wise but money doesn't always guarantee success as we've seen in the past Wakey.

I fully agree with this. Pelle will probably try as good a finish as he can, also to leave with honor and maybe glory as well. Not sure of all the players, although for their careers, too, it would of course be beneficial to play their best to secure a place in City (or elsewhere in big clubs) for the next season. The players who do not start regularly or are dropped may be the most vulnerable to the situation, knowing they don't have to to with the manager for long anymore.

Not sure if I should keep Dawson in for the long-term and Bellerin in for the short-term. Cresswell's attacking threat has looked great lately so I'm tempted to get one out.

I got a bit transfer crazy after the weekend (and a few beers) and have made 3 changes already this week, not sure whether it was the terrible GW20 score, a strange New Year itch that I just had to scratch or just plain stupidity...

    Butland
    Toby, Bellerin, Dawson
    Alli, Mahrez, KDB, Ozil
    Kun (C), Kane, Lukaku

    Hennessey, Stanislas, Moreno, Oxford

    0 FT
    2.9m ITB
    Currently on -4

    A) GTG?
    B) Anything worth a hit?

Yeah, I think I'm gonna leave Oxford in there as fodder. Having 4 fit, playing defenders is working out for me so far but I'm tempted to get rid of Moreno next GW.

I'd like to find a way to shoehorn Sanchez in when he's back too... thinking of KDB to Yaya and Mahrez to Sanchez but that depends on whether Yaya maintains his form and Sanchez finds some

Think its a stretch to blame Klopp's style of play on the hammy injuries - most of them have been center backs and they are not exactly part of the press.

Henderson has a chronic injury sustained last season
Coutinho is just back from injury

    Butland
    Smalling, Bellerin, Toby, Dann
    Ozil (c), KDB. Alli
    Lukaku, Kane, Ighalo

    McCarthy. Mahrez, Barkley, VVD

It came down to a choice between Dann, Mahrez & Barkley for my last spot & with Dann a chance of a cs surely he's the best chance for highest points. Thoughts & thanks.

What would you do with this lot?

    --------------Butland--------------

    --Wolly------Toby------Dann--

    Mahrez----KDB----Alli----Ozil

    Kane-------Deeney-------Lukaku

    Bench (Cech-Simpson-Dawson-Stanislas)

    0 FT 8.0 ITB

    >Getting Kun for Deeney (For a hit) would leave me with 0.1 ITB and not being able to get Sanchez straight away.

    >I would also need to fit in Payet after the next gameweek or so.

Decided to WC, thoughts on the below team? Could probably save some money in defence, but cannot see where the rest of the team could be improved in doing so. Removed Alli as a 5th midfielder as I dont want a benching headache. 0.1ITB.

    Butland - Hennessey

    Dann - Koscielny - Azpilicueta - Alderweireld - Dawson

    YYT - Ozil - Payet - Mahrez - Stanislas

    Aguero - Costa - Ighalo

You'll have to put it in the scoutcast questions 🙂

To be honest I think you'll get a fairly standard answer - keep for double game weeks unless you're seriously in trouble.

I have considered using it now and jumping on all the possible differentials early but it's super risky.

It's super risky yes but something has to be done. There is nice fixture swing, Kun is back, Chelsea are up in from, regular players that were producing seems on the down. Window of opportunity there

3 of CPLs next 4 'red' fixtures (up to GW34) are well covered by BOU. Only exception is the LEI fixture, which possibly may not still be red by the time it comes around.

Seems a quite a few are rolling with the Butland -Hennessy combo. I'd also look at Courtois and Lloris, as Stoke fixtures are tough after NOR. They are both reasonably priced now, could be bargains.

Well, question at this point is , will he really pick up more points than Lloris or Courois who're similarly priced? Especially Spurs' fixtures, but also Chelsea, hold promise of quite a few clean sheets. Butland is the GK bonus king, though.

Me too. What replacements are in your thoughts? I already have Butland, and annoyingly it's Stoke and West Brom who rotate quite well defensively! But I don't really want to gamble on who out of Foster/Myhill would get the nod

        1. Pompel
          • 12 Years

Not in the fortunate position to have Butland, so I guess it's between him, Courtois, Lloris and Fabianski to replace Myhill. If you have Butland, just get Hennessy or Rudd as cheapo back-up.

          1. Laporte In A Storm
            • 10 Years
            10 years, 3 months ago

I have cash to burn - I could bring in Lloris, and still be able to afford Kun and Kane/Sanchez in my team later. But I'm wondering if that money is going to my head and turning me mad, because my usual instinct is to keep my keepers cheap and not double up in defense (have Toby). I may need an intervention - would Lloris/Butland, with Toby in defense and tripling Spurs (if/when I bring in Kane) be utter madness?

            1. Pompel
              • 12 Years
              10 years, 3 months ago

Not in my opinion - doesn't really count as tripling up as you'll have two playing GK's. But Lloris/Butland don't rotate too well, and a tad expensice. Would choose one + Hennessy/Rudd
