Would you lose any of these for Alli for a hit?

    KdB - Ozil - Payet - Mahrez - Arnautovic

Leaning towards one of KdB or Mahrez...

But Arnie is also an option (although his fixtures pick back up soon) and I could always just go without Alli..

Great move for Naismith and for Scotland. If Shelvey is worth 12m then 8.5m is a good price for Naismith.

Proven goalscorer in the PL, Champions League and at International level. He also always gives 110%.

I've had a fairly long discussion on here about the corruption in football and in tennis just a few days ago. http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2016/01/14/the-scoutcast-episode-180-whistle/?hc_page=8#hc_comment_12413167
I started it with the statement that it's much easier, therefore it's happening more often, to bribe in tennis than in football (less number of people need to be involved and it's easier for a player to influence the game himself). On the other hand, Rhinos and Jedjohnson were there to say that I have "no facts to back my statement" and basically it was true, so I surrendered, I had no evidence. No then. And now we have this:

"The BBC has seen secret files exposing evidence of widespread suspected match-fixing at the top of world tennis, including at Wimbledon."

    http://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/35319202?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_sport&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=sport

I know corruption is happening in every sport, what I don't agree with is Rhinos' and Jedjohnsons' statements that it's no difference in football than in tennis, that both sports are equally corrupted. In my opinion bribery is a safer business in tennis and it IS happening there more often.

    Thoughts?

Also bear in mind that drugs testing in football is still embarrassingly weak compared to other exposed sports such as cycling, and was almost non-existent during the 80s and 90s whilst drugs use in some other sports has been shown to be unbelievably high. Football is a skill sport but those small margins in terms of fitness, speed and strength could be the difference between making it and not making it.

However I have zero evidence so I cannot accuse anyone of anything, but it does make the mind boggle! Same could be said of many other skill sports, notably basketball.

        • 10 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

That's a good point! In any team sports those tight margins in terms of getting to the ball first, scoring with a little more accuracy, might be crucial in a long run. However, I imagine that it's still more risky for anyone to bet on a game where so many people are involved.

I agree its obviously a lot easier to pull off in an individual sport. However some pretty shocking things have come out of Italy in recent years, and there's currently some stuff going on in Spain. I have no idea if the authorities have a grip on it over here, but it really won't shock me if/when a big scandal comes out.

Oh... The Italians. They are different in case of bribery, leave them alone. Italy is a separate topic. 😀

Almost any organization will have some form of corruption whether we like it or not

Now the extent of corruption and how many games are actually affected is a debatable topic

We 'could' have - but it's far from definite. If they lose their 4th round matches then they'll have a blank 5th Round weekend - so they will almost certainly play the re-arranged games at this point - I think this can safely be assumed.

KDB - his passing really is woeful at times yet he's playing in a team that quite simply scores goals, lots of them. I think he's the best City option in midfiled because of his versatility to play any of the three attacking midfield roles in Pelle preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. I honestly dont think you can say this with Silva and certainly not Sterling as a no 10.

Man City also have the kindest run of fixtures till the end of the season, the teams they play, in terms of average league position, is lower than any of the so called 'big teams'. Just some random Monday morning thoughts

What do I do about Sagna? With rotation I'm not sure he or Zabaleta are definite starters.

    Current GK & defenders:

    Cech - Hennessey
    Sagna - Alderweireld - Zouma - Simpson - Collins

Who do I bring in? Only have 0.1 in the bank, I could downgrade De Bruyne to free up funds.

Shine taken off yesterday with people getting Stoke/Arsenal clean sheets and having Gosling coming on for Ozil but otherwise decent enough - 74 all out.

Do we really expect any DGW25 matches? I'm not so sure. This midweek slot will be required for FA cup replays, so if any league matches are to be put there, the decision will have to wait until after the 4th round matches have been played. That only gives 10 days notice to arrange the matches. Is that sufficient time? Nor sure.
Having said that, the only other available slots are GW34 AND GW37 so there is a danger the FA run out of dates to rearrange fixtures, so they may want to get them in GW25.

Haven't looked at it, though I am assuming if there really is a shortage of dates in the coming season, they could well announce the game 10 days before. I am not sure though if it has been done earlier.

Willian to Payet sounds perfect, but I'm not sold on Everton's defence at all. We are really poor at the back, as shown again at the weekend, and though Jagielka helps, I don't think he helps enough to warrant investment.

Is it worth shipping KDB to make funds for Aguero?

Depends on the rest of your team.

    A) De Bruyne < Silva
    Sagna < Baines

    B) De Bruyne < Silva
Collins < Wollscheid/Ward (Have Hennessey, don't know if I should double up on Palace players)

Pure stupidity or an actual chance of working?

Toby and Ozil to Baines and Sanchez?

    2ft and have Lloris

      Could work out

Wait until the C1C games are played. Remember that every season there is a bunch of players who do well in the first part of the season (Costa, Fabregas last year) and then suddenly fade away for the rest of the year. This might be the case with Ozil. On the other hand many forgotten ones get back in form, and I wouldn't be suprise if Baines and Alexis did. So if you fancy these moves go for it.

Ozil has arguably been the most consistent player this season and Toby has the best attacking stats amongst defenders pretty much. These are my worries.

Understood. But don't be suprise if the roles change now. Nothing lasts forever.

Need to shed 0.4 off this. Which one would you lose?

    Toby - Bellerin - Moreno - Dawson - Simpson

The usual suspects are Moreno and Dawson. Not the best defences around, although WBA has Pulis and good fixtures coming up.

Need 0.4 to do KdB to Sanchez next week (at current prices)

I'd keep both Moreno and Dawson. Simpson to Targett

I don't think Targett is really nailed for the long run. Like all my squad nailed tbh

yeah he has done really well. I have had him before and just got rid of him around christmas. Frustrating to own.

It would have to be Dawson to be honest, Moreno has a potential DGW.

After Aguero rewarded me with 32 points, I'll show him how grateful I am and take the captaincy off him and give to Lukaku. Can't see City getting much out of West Ham, they usually seem to struggle against them.

The next two fixtures for Lukaku are just too good.
